I am from NYC.. but i think it is the manufacture.. for those of you who got the Mirena IUD did you get a card to keep up the appointments and reminders of when to check it? i have one and there is a number on it and a bar code.... i wonder is that the IUD # that was inserted in me.. or the batch number.. 5221609/1. I think we should get together and send a letter to this company! or think bout suing..

Ethi, That is the same number I have on my card up to the / then it is followed by a 2. I think you may be onto something here. Ladies, check your cards. Same numbers???? If so I think we have enough people on here between this board and the "IUD malfunction" board to start something. Interestingly enough, I have had a really heavy "period" after 6 weeks of feeling really blah with only an episode of very faint spotting prior, so I thought I was pregnant. Althogh my brain tells me no, because of the heavy bleeding, I still feel pregnant. I think the Levongestral, which is a synthetic version of the hormone progestrine is causing some of us to have these symptoms when we aren't pregnant. Although I do go to my midwife in a few weeks, I was told to wait 6 weeks as stated by the manufactuerer of the product to see if my symptoms resolve. Really strange, and for those that are coming up truly pregnant, that is too many in my opinion. Just the odds we all found this board together is amazing to me!

I am totally up for it.. I havent got my card but they did send my iud off for further a___lysis.

I'm from Scotland. It's obviously the manufacturing of the IUD. Women all over the world have had coil failure.

Unbelievable! I, too, thought the Mirenia was as close to getting your tubes tied as could be! I have had my Mirenia IUD since August of 2003 (already have 2 kids, ages 5 and 2)) and last week I had an almost nonexistent period. Even after headaches, and cravings, and constant tiredness, and breat tenderness (which is what prompted my google search), I thought, no WAY am I pregnant, but now I'm terrified! My soon-to-be-ex-husband does NOT want any more kids and I still have 1 1/2 years to go in college (guess I should have thought about that before a couple of tequila shots). Looks like I'm taking my rear to the store... Thank you everyone for your stories and good luck!

Hey, ethi i also have the same number except it is a 2 instead of a 1. i took two pregnancy tests around june 27th and they both came up negative. then i finally had my period a couple days later but havent had one since. and i still feel pregnant. i am always sick to my stomach and i keep throwing things up and i am always tired. all of these people getting pregnant is really starting to worry me. if any of you want to talk you can email me at berrysweetheather@yahoo.com

jist thought I want to let someone to know that I am pregnant with an IUD in place I have had paragaurd IUD in for about two years and just the other day something inside said go take a pregnancy test and i took three first response and they were negative a week later i was in the emergency room with flu like symptoms throwing hurting in my lower stomach with chills The doctor checked me out and couldn't find out what was wrong with me he ruled out being pregnant because I had the IUD in but my blood test showed no bacterial infection or anything then I mention that I took a hpt last week and it was negative he stated well less do another blood test to check for pregnancy little be hold that was the explanation,. I asked have ever seen anyone with an IUD in get pregnant he stated there are more cases of that being seen around he said I was the 10 person he has seen this with. I am really scared I am 24 years old with 3 kids. I tried to get the doctors to tie my tubes and they refuse to. I haven't told anyone I guess I am just scared of the out come. I intend to try to have the baby if possiable. before this I have not had a problem with my IUD I could't find the strings but my husband could. I would have recommended this to anyone but now I wouldn't recomend it to any one but the people who put it on the shelfs to take it off.

Lori How ar ehtings going? I Have the IUD and just found out that I am pregnate and boy do we have the same story. We have 2 kids and were ok with not having anymore and what a shocker it was when I showed my husband my test results. I am looking at you to see how you are doing? We have not been to the DR yet and don't have alot of info yet. Anything you have will be helpful.

My, oh my! Not sure what to think ladies. I didn't get a card with mine so I have no idea about the numbers. I took an HPT last week & it was negative. Although I am still feeling awful. With my 1st two children, my HPTs came up + right away, less than 2 weeks post conception. With number three, I had 2 negative HPTs and then later found out I was pg all along. I really don't think I am, but you ladies are making me think twice. I haven't had a period at all since I got it in Dec 04'). Just spotting the first few weeks and then spotting last month. I was nursing up until 2 months ago, so I expected not to get it then, but wonder if I should've had one now. Wishing you all the best, I'll be keeping up with your posts to see how you all do.

hey girls, I got a question for all of you that are pregnant, I also have the mirena IUD and don't know if I am pregnant but when I got the mirena put in my doctor told me that if I got pregnant I would have to have an abortion. Now I am terrified, if I'm pregnant do I really have to have an abortion. The only reason I agreed to it was because they said it was so rare to hear of someone getting pregnant on mirena. I am 22 and have a 3 and 1 year old both which were conceived on the pill so I didn't really see any other choices. I have had pregnancy symptoms for about two months but kept thinking it was all in my head. I've had morning sickness, migraines (which I had for both my pregnancies), fatigue etc and I haven't had a period since I had the mirena put in which was September 2004, my doctor said I was one of the lucky ones that wouldn't get a period. I stopped b___stfeed in March 2005 and had spotting for three days and nothing since then. I don't know what do now, I can't get a hpt until friday cuz my fiance is working out of town and he has our car. And if I am I don't want to call the doctor if they're going to make me have an abortion! Someone please tell me what I should do?

Jenny- no one can tell you what you should do but you and your fiance! One thing you can do in the immediate is collect all the information you can find on this (which you seem to be doing, having found this website). Then, as soon as possible, go to your doctor. Remeber, with important medical decisions, you should always get a second opinion before acting. Good luck

If you are pregnant they will take out the iud and sometimes removing the iud can cause a miscarriage as in my case..

I went to the doctor today and they wanted to take out my IUD but I have read a lot about this and I think my personal choice is to leave it in. I really don't want to have another baby but I say to my self this happen for a reason I try to make the best out of it all so now I am going to give birth to my fourth child. Another thing I am four months pregnant i was surprised to be pregnantbut even more surprize to find out how far if your spotting don't count that as your menstral cycle and if it is not normal such as mine lasted seven days it went to three days i have only missed one period 5 days late.

michelle, you said that you only missed one period but you are 4 mths preg, wow....my last period was june 30th and that one was 13 days late....i kept thinking that if i am spotting then i couldnt be preg, but after i read some of these i guess i was wrong...

These decisions are very hard to make...I was 3 months pregnant and had to terminate the pregnancy because of complications. It is really important to think about the children you do have and how much they need you...becareful and make sure you know about all the risks involved...I have heard alot of scary stories and positive one too...good luck! The hardest decision I had to make was to terminate the pregnancy and now it feels like a relief. I have 2 girls 2 and 7 and I needed to be here for them. I know how hard it is and the attachment you feel towards the fetus. I am so shocked at all the people in the same situation...yikes
