this is my 3rd iud, i first had a 2 year iud, then the 10year iud with those yes i bled alot the first few days, however with the mirena i bled alot the first day then nothing but now it is time for my period and i am flooooooooding.. it is my first period after a baby tho so that may be the reason, i am 11 week pp..

Hi all..I have never posted anything on these websights, but I have a question. I got the Merina IUD inserted last year, 1 year after I had twin boys. It has been great for me, however, I have had pregnancy symptoms lately, including lactation. I took a test, and it came back negative. I was wondering for those of you who have discovered they are pregnant while using the IUD..how did you find out? Did your tests come back negative? If so, did you wait a while and try the tests again, or just call your DR. for a blood test. I just don't want to be paranoid if there is no reason to be..any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

I have an IUD and it's possible that I'm pregnant. When I went to have it put in I read the pamphlet and the doctor stated to me that if I did get pregnant I could have it taken out or kept in. If it's kept in it should cause no problems if the embryo is not clase to IUD. Sometimes I worry if my IUD feel out and I don't anything about it. Are you sure yours is still in.

I tested positive at 5 weeks pg with the IUD in. I don't see any reason why a test would be negative just because of the IUD. I had the Paraguard and got pg. I then had the IUD removed right away and am now 16 weeks pg. Everything is going well. Sorry I have no experience with negative pg tests. Rocki

I have the Mirena IUD since OCt '04. After 3-4 mnths I stopped having my period. For the last few days, and a few days last week or the week before, my b___st have been sore. This was a pregnancy sign for me before. Because I havn't had my period in over a year a half, would I start bleeding if I was pregnant? I had never had any spotting at all with my other 2 children. I also have not been a very avid string checker (slapping myself now) and when I did check today, I really didnt feel strings, but more of a hard thing (dont know how to describe it). I haven't had any cramping but have had lower back pain (which isnt unusual). If anybody has had only sore b___sts or other syptoms other than bleeding and do not have periods with the Merina- are you pregnant? Have you taken a pregnancy test? I don't want to worry hubby if I dont have to :) Thanks

Hi, just found this site and Im so so so glad to know that Im not alone in this situation. I had my first child in October of 05 & got a Mirena IUD but now I think Im pregnant & Im really freaked out. I feel pregnant Im moody weepy no regular period & my b___st have swollen and started to leak a little. I was never able to really b___st feed my first, I had to have surgery & meds made milk dry up. So this is really making me anxious, has anyone else had this symtom? I go in the morning for abdominal scan & blood work first two hpt were negative!!

riwehr : You need to see your dr, sounds like you are feeling the IUD itself and that means that is it not in place and you could be pregnant.

It obvious alot of women are having the same concerns. My situation is that i've had my Mirena for three years and i too feel like i'm pregnant. I went to the doctors and have a ultrasound scheduled and he says chances are i'm not pregnant, most likely i have a cyst. I've been pregnant and i know how i felt then and i know what it feels like to pregnant. If you get pregnant on an IUD do your symptons consist of sharp pains in your lower stomach and pain during s_x. Maybe i can rule one or the other out.

I have mirean too my strings disappeared buy ultrasound confirmed it was in place. I have a 3 yr old and 18m twins that were conceived on the patch. I have been gettin sick for about 3 days and been tierd Im in denial until proved otherwise I am going to the doc tomorrow. if your iud is above uterus they cant get it out its suppose to be in the ca___l before the uterus.

Hey everybody! I had my IUD put in back in early July. I have had it for almost 9wks now. I have done nothing but bleed heavily and cramp (I have the Mirena). I am pa__sing clots at times that are the size of a golf ball. When I call my gyno, they keep telling me to give it another week!!! I have had horrible stomach pains, nausea and vomiting, and just not feeling right. I am still nursing my 6mth old son. I have a hpt, but haven't taken it yet. I cannot feel the strings to my IUD. Did anyone else bleed this much? I am so worried I am having a m/c.

Wow, now I'm really worried. I found this website because I just have not felt "right" the last few days. I have three boys and never had the traditional pregnancy symptoms, usually just feeling off. I had Merena put in after my third son, about a year ago. I was b___stfeeding, so never had my period. Now my baby has officially weaned and I still haven't had a period. I have a dr appt in a couple of weeks for my annual check. Has anyone else used this while they were b___stfeeding and didn't resume periods when they were done??

5months ago I had my baby.We decided to get mirena put in. recently I have had some symptoms simular to Pregnancy but my test came up negative. Is it normal to have cramps and jabbing feelings in my uterusarea? My last period (if you call it that) was about 2 weeks ago. I go to the bathroom several times too many. My b___sts have begun to leak again and I have not b___st fead in over three and a half months ago. I have a dr's appointment thursday but am concerned because I have a hard time feeling the strings. It is like they moved. Is this normal to have phantom symptomswith an IUD? I havebeen emotional again and My smell is stronger latly. If my tests were negative then is this really normal with an iud?

I have had the Mirena IUD for 2 years. I bled alot at first for about 3 solid months straight. After that I have had only 1 actual period. I wish I could say that it's the best, but the truth is it somehow tricks my body into feeling pregnant. Since I have had 3 healthy babies, I am aware of how it feels when I get pregnant. Since having the IUD - I have gone through at least 4 times where I would swear I was pregnant. Breast tenderness, mood swings, tired all the time, and strange as it may seem joint pain. Everytime I actually was pregnant I knew it. But I have taken 4 pregnancy test over the last 2 years, sure that they were going to be positive, thankfully all were negative. I have 3 great kids, and can not afford any more right now, so while it it comforting that I haven't been pregnant, it's really frustrating living with the question running through your head. I firmly believe that something in the IUD makes my body similate the same simptoms of pregnancy. I have even considered having it removed due to the mental strain. I thankfully check back here every once in a while and I am comforted that I am not the only one feeling this way. Hope this helps someone feeling similar.

I am so freaked out by reading these posts. I have an the Paraguard IUD for almost a year now (Oct. 31st will be a year). I have had regular periods and have just had my last period. But, I have felt so nauseous the past week. I don't know if it's a side effect or what. But, now I'm worried that I'm pregnant or I'm having an ectopic pregnancy. Should I be worried? I made an appt for next Friday to see the Dr. I have never been able to feel my strings....so I can't check that. Has anyone else had those symptoms?

I have been reading this forum for an hour, I have had my IUD in for a year and over the past few weeks the thought 'it feels like I'm pregnant' has popped into my head. I laughed it off, but I'm having a lot of symptoms that I can't ignore, and when I attempted to find my strings, I was unable to do so, my cervix was hard to reach and I wasn't able to really reach it. I have been able to find my strings previously and my cervix wasn't so 'high'. I have the Mirena and up until now I thought it was wonderful, I haven't had a real period since November of 05. I'm just in a panic, and I'm greatly relieved in a way to find other women who know what I'm feeling right now and what I will be going through if the test is positive in the morning.

I just had my ultrasound a couple days ago and I'm having another baby girl. After having my IUD since November 2003 I got pregnant in May. I had the IUD removed asap and now I'm 20 weeks pg with a little girl. Rocki
