I thought I was pregnant too. I had all the symptoms just like everyone else, so I went to the trusty internet to see what I could find, and i found this site. Now, I don't doubt that many many people HAVE gotten pregnant with the IUD in. But I would check this site many times a day to see who else was pregnant, because I was convinced 'If all those women are pregnant, than surely I am also!'. Even when common sense told me it might just be in my head, I still would check here constantly, as if someone would post the answer to my problem. I just want to warn everyone to use this site carefully. Take the test if you are not sure; or go to the doctor. But do something other than just checking this site - you will feel better when you finally do. Take it from my experience. :)

hi lori i am so happy you worte about this . as i read a sense of relife has come. i so happy that i am not alone and i am happy that i know iam not crazy!!! which two doctors actually try to diagonse me , and i am just pregant 17 weeks negitive pee test and blood work but my ultra sound came back positive. so i just belive god and everything that he is , and i just trust and belive my baby will be healthy. i still have my iud in , i have a doctors appt friday to see if we will remove it. may god bless you and your family .

MrsMartin... How many urine test did you take??? What kind of IUD do you have in, How long have you had it in and is it still in place????

Good news! I want to encourage those of you who are pregant with your IUD. I just had a healthy baby girl last week. I first wrote when I found out I was 8 weeks pregnant with my Mirena IUD in place. (I had my suspicions when I had pregnancy symptoms like throwing up. I bought a pregnancy test to rule out pregnancy and was shocked to see it turn out positive). I quickly had a blood test done (positive), ultrasound and the doctor tried to get the IUD out (the strings popped off). I went to see a specialist and they tried to get it out too but that was unsuccessful. I had a planned C-section last week (due to previous C-sections) at 39 weeks pregnant. The IUD was found implanted in my uterine wall (the muscle wall) and it had to be dug out. My baby girl is completely healthy and weighed over 8 pounds. I was on edge the entire pregnancy wondering if the baby would be OK. I am so relieved. Now I have 5 children and my oldest is 4 years old (I have one-year old twins). I am my kids mom. It sure is busy around here. I would never trust an IUD ever again. My pregnancy was nerve wracking wondering if the baby would be carried full term, and if the IUD would cause any abnormalities. It was also very difficult being pregnant with 4 under the age of 5. It feels great to finally not be pregnant!

I had a new mirena coil fitted 10 weeks ago, but have had pregnancy symptoms, I took a test today and it is positive could there be anything else that could give a positive test. I feel sick and very worried.

Wow...I have had my mirena for four years and I think I might be pregnant, too. Two negative tests, but I took two negative tests when I was pg with dd#2. All of the signs are there...are there newly updated failure rates for this thing??

Hi ladies, WOW still cant believe how many of you are preggers with the IUD. I have been feeling pregnant as well (have 2 boys already). I had the Mirena implanted in July of 05 and have had normal periods since. About a week ago i started feeling pregnant but was relieved when my "period " came, however the period was extremely light just a little brownish stuff on the tampon and lasted just 2 days. A day later im still growing more nauseous, more so at night and woke up one morning with pain in the nipple (feeling very sensitive) so after a week of wondering my husband is finally going to the store to get some pregnancy tests. Ill post again to let you know what happens! As for all you other ladies out there experiencing this my heart goes out to you.

I guess I am looking for advise from other women who have been in my shoes. I have 2 children under the age of 3. I am currently 3 weeks late for my period. I took a Quanat_tive HCG which was negative but my score was a 2! I went in today to get urine done and the test is still negative but I know what being pregnant feels like and I feel that way. Any suggestions?

I have been checking this thread for a couple weeks now. I have had the mirena Iud since december 06. I have had a regular period since I have had it up until last month. I missed it totally. They did tell me that they could completly go away. But I suspected I was pregnant. I waited until last week to take a test and it was Neg. So I am not sure. I was going to wait and see if I was going to start this month. Im not supposed to start until the 19th. And I just started spotting.. It is just a light pink and hardly anything there. Its weird. I have had many signs of pregnancy. Fatigue, hunger, sore b___sts, Heightened sense of smell. Could this be my period stopping. and if i missed my period last month could that be why i am spotting early now. I just feel so dumb going to the dr. suspecting pregnancy. I dont know what to do.

wow, this is crazy. i had no idea so many people got pregnant on the IUD. i wish they had warned me!! i've already had 3 abortions, that's why i wanted something "foolproof". now a year later, my period is several weeks late. i thought there was no way i could be pregnant but i guess i should test myself. the only problem is i don't know who the father would be -- could be one of two people -- and either way i don't want to keep it. that's why i got this thing, so i wouldn't have to worry about it any more!!!! i can't believe pregnancy is so common on the IUD. i had no idea!! one of my other pregnancies happened when i had used a condom, so i guess i must be super fertile. i don't have any kids and i can't keep one right now so i'm just hoping my period is just late or something... thank you for all your posts, at least i know i'm not alone.

Lori, no one should be faced with these deceisions. I am afraid I may be pregnant and I too have a Mirena IUD. I have two children and know the symptons quite well, however the home test says otherwise. Did you find out with a home test or was blood work the only positive?

Just curious?????? How many of these pregnancies are ectopic? Getting pregnant with the IUD usually caused higher chance of ectopic pregnancy. I think I may be pregnant also and all of you keep saying you may be also and I would like to know the outcome. Thanks.

I wonder how many of these "I think I am pregnant" posts turned out to be real since not that many people came back to post. I wish we knew to have a better understanding of the odds we are facing. Here is my story. I have had the Mirena for over 3 years and I have loved it and I was their biggest spokesperson. Well, for the past 2 months I have felt "pregnant" and I even said "I would be I was pregnant if I did not have an IUD." Well when I went to my doctor for my yearly she said that they cannot find my IUD. They have me going in for an ultrasound and xrays tomorrow. She is worried that I may be pregnant even thought the test showed a neg. My doctor said in all of her years she has seen this before but only on a rare occasion. I know I will have to have labroscopic surgery to remove the IUD once it i found (from my doctor). They just have to make sure I am not pregnant first! They did a urine test now they are doing more. Please let me know if this sounds familar to anyone else! Thanks!!!

Reading Shannon's story about being pregnant and her husband felt the sharp poking during s_x...well my husband has felt that too...and I wondering myself here in the last few days if I am preganant..this was back in 2005 all these readings I am reading today..so I am looking for recent problems..thanks.
