I was not pregnant in the end but all the symptoms were there bad enough for me to take 2 test and got to the doctors, my test were positive and to scary for me, but i went to the doctors and had a blood test that she said was 100% positive and that looks like the case but there is something in the mirena coil hormone that gives a positive reading because i am not pregnant, but very relieved, I love my children but another a 40 would have sent me over the edge hence the contraception. Good luck to all of you that are and are not pregnant it is a scary time for all of us as reading this page can tell us.

so i have been having awful cramps for a month or more now..a month ago had a urine pregnancy test done..but I wonder now should I go and have a blood test done?

Hi Lori, I, like most of the ladies on here, stumbled across this website via google. The only resource I have found on the IUD and pregnancy so all I know is what I read on here. Did you spot at all? I got my IUD in 6 weeks PP in June 07. I bled for like 3 months then regular for the last four. my last period was Dec. 13 then I had my first light spotting the 25th (my most likely O day was the 29th) then was fine until yesterday I spotted again. That along with some increased cervical mucus, frequent urination, cramping, and nipple tenderness I'm a little concerned. I checked my strings last night and they were where they should be...then I bled a bright red after that...just a small amount. I have talked 2 nurses today and they are going to call me back... They didn't seem too worried...Sorry I couldn't help you, but I was hoping you could help me....Thanks!

I wrote back in January of 2006. I still think about the experience I had. I had an IUD placed without the doctor completing a pregnancy test. Well, I was pregnant when the Mirena was placed. After a few weeks I began having symptoms of pregnancy along with no period. I took a home test and it was positive. I went to the doctor (who got me in the next day) The confirmed the pregnancy and went to remove the IUD. The strings could not be found...so they sent me for an ultrasound...they located the strings which were out of reach. They tried getting it with forceps and such but could not get them. During the 2 ultra sounds I had that day the baby was well. I began reading about options and risks of carrying a baby with an IUD. I made an appoinment with a local abortion DR to discuss options if they had seen similar cases, not to necesarily have the abortion since my doctor and the others in the practice had not seen a case like mine and could offer no help. When I went in they did an ultrasound and found the baby no longer had a heart beat (I had began bleeding the day of my previous dr appoitment). So of course I went ahead with a D&C so they could also remove the IUD. This was extremly traumatic to me and after consulting a few lawyers I have basically learned that due to Abortion laws in NYS they don't put any value on an uborn baby's life so they was not much I could do. If anyone out there ever needs someone to talk to, I am here, and if you could offer me any advice, that would be great also!!! Take care all of you!!!

Okay...I had my Mirena IUD placed in September. I haven't had a period since just lots of spotting. I have started to feel nauseated and my b___sts are sore to. I have a 14 month old son...i think im going to buy a HPT on the way home from work after reading theese posts :( If I am prenant i will very disapointed since my doctor said for all the years he has been inserted the iud not one pregnancy .....odd that there is so many people this happens to then.

i have the ParaGard iud and i am late i have been extreamly tired ,irraitable ,my appitete has increased alot ,my b___st are tender to the touch some of these things i think could be caused by this bad cold i have but i am unsure i have a 3 year old now and me and my husband both decied we dont want any more kids but we are young and still want to have the option to decied later if we want more or not n e ways i am very scared i really am not ready for another one and i am kind of scared to go to the doctor to find out what do you think i should do please help

Hi, I am 23 years old and I have had the Mirena IUC for 1 1/2 years now. I have almost no s_x drive, and my periods last about an hour and are very light when I do have them. I took two pregancy tests this morning and they were negative, but I don't know why I am staying tired all the time, I feel sorry for my husband because between our three year old and not having s_x he's getting pretty tired of these "symptoms". I have an OB appointment on Jan 25 and I'm hoping to find some answers there but I would like to be able to explain to him that I'm not the only person going through this right now. Also, I went for my annual pap last August and they found cancer on my cervix, they completed a LEEP and were able to remove all of the cancerous spots so I'm thinking that is having a lot to do with me just not wanting to have s_x...I don't know! If anybody knows anything please let me know! Thank you!

c_mudd23, I seen your post that you just put in and i figured your's was one i should reply too. :) I am 23 also with some problems with the IUD... Although, i don't have kids so i figured that was the reason. I too have lost my s_x drive since getting my IUD i got it about 14 months ago. Since then, I have barely any care, want, or need to have s_x period. Like you, it has put a damper on my relationship, but we are working through it. I'm actually going to be getting it removed very soon and hopefully then my s_x drive will return. My periods are usually just the opposite of yours they are very light, but they will last up to 2 weeks. It gets rather annoying. I hope this puts your mind at ease so now you know that you are not the only person having problems with the IUD. If you have anymore questions that you would like to ask or what not, I have it set up where it will notify me when someone post to this forum. I hope this helps. Heather

HI LORI- MY NAME IS CHRISTINA..I TOO HAVE AND IUD IN..THE 5 YEAR ON IN FACT...AS IM READING THE FORUMS AND TOPICS. IM GETTING SCARED MYSELF..I GOT THE IUD PUT IN THIS PAST SEPT AT THE SAME TIME TAKING THE 10 YEAR ONE OUT BECAUSE MY PERIODS WERE EXTREAMLY HEAVY..I STARTED SPOTTING ON XMAS EVE AND IT LASTED A WEEK AND WAS SUPPOSED TO GET MY PERIOD ON THE 4TH(YESTERDAY) AND IT HAS NOT COME YET...WHAT "FEELINGS" DID YOU HAVE WHILE ON THE IUD AND GOT PREGNANT...I DONT KNOW IF ITS ALL IN MY HEAD BUT DONT WANT TO SCARE THE HUBBY BECAUSE I WAS TOLD THE IUD WAS A SURE THING AS TO PREVENT PREGNANCY...WHAT ARE YOUR SUGGESTIONS? just wanted to let you know that i decied to go to the doc and they did blood work the test came back neg so i am really glad bout that hope you are doing okay let me know if you need to talk

well heres my sitch. i am 35 have 2 kids boy 13 girl 9. my husband suffers from a chronic illness and is on some pretty heavy duty drugs, one in particular is a chemo drug and when he was diagnosed and prescribed these medicines we were warned not to get pregnant, which suited us down to the ground anyway. i asked for a sterilization and was refused on the grounds of my age (33 at that point) and was advised to get a mirena fitted. because it is a hormonal IUD my husband was really wary of it as i had a very bad time with Norplant 10 years ago, but i went ahead and had it fitted. my periods have been sporadic and usually very light. but for the last 3 weeks i have been sick every morning, my b___bs are achy i feel like crying constantly and now i have started being ill in the evenings, exactly how it was with both my pregnancies. frankly i am Sh***ing myself at what my husband is going to say. there is no way i can have this baby if im pregnant. apart from the fact its DNA may have been changed by the various medicines i have an extremely ill husband 8 months out of 12 and 2 kids who dont get enough of my time as it is. i feel really bad but i willhave to have an abortion if it turns out i am pregnant. god that all sounds really self pitying doesnt it? i'm not usually like this but it hasreally got me down and i have no-one to talk to about it. dont want to tell hubby yet as he is only just getting back on his feet after his last flare up, 2 of my friends are trying for a baby, 1 is extremely pregnant and my best friend is going through some emotional stuff at the mo! :-(

Wow. I am 22 years old, have a boy who just turned 4 and a girl who is about to be 3 in february. I had the mirena placed in April of 2005 and haven't had a period since November 2005. I have had symptoms of pregnancy twice in the past, both of which tests proved negative and the symptoms subsided. The past few weeks I have been feeling pregnant again with nausea, occa__sional heartburn, constant fatigue and headaches, my b___sts are very tender and I'm having a lot of stomach flutters. I took a HPT last week which came out negative, but reading quite a bit of these experiences, I am worried that I might really be this time. My symptoms before subsided after about 3 weeks. It has now been about a month and a half that I have been feeling this way. I don't have health insurance anymore and can't really afford to see the doctor on suspicion right now. I have had issues with cysts since getting the IUD, but this feels much different. Should I take another HPT, suck it up and make a DR appt...I'm kinda stuck in limbo right now and am not sure what to do. Any imput would definitely be helpful. Thanks.

I AM 19 YEARS OLD...I HAD AN IUD INSERTED AFTER MY 2ND SON WAS BORN AYEAR AGO..I HAVE BEEN IN SO MUCH PAIN WITH CRAMPING AND I FEEL AS IF I AM PREGNANT AS TO I HAVE HAD ALL OF THE PREGNANCY SYMPTOMS...I DUNNO WAT I WOULD DO IF I AM PREGNANT AGAIN..I ALSO HAVE NO INSURANCE!! WAT SHOULD I DO B/C MY HPT CAME OUT NEG..HELP!!
