I was diagnosed with a miscarriage last Sunday. My hcg level went from 556 to 321 to 188 every two days. Then a week later its only at 164. Now I am worried why. I have had some pain in my shoulder/neck/arm but thought it was from sitting at my desk and holding that damn mouse all day. What does that shoulder pain feel like and where is it located if the pg is ectopic. My doctor has talked about possibly giving me the methotrexate shot but I am concerned what side effects that will have on me and my next pregnancy. Can anyone pass on any info? Much appreciate.

Hi there, shoulder pain is definitly something that comes along with an ectopic pregnancy, I had an ectopic pregnancy last year, i did not have shoulder pain that i new of, my shoulders always hurt because of my job, I have tendonitus in my arms and shoulders. They took my hcg all the time, I also had some brown spotting before I new I had an ectopic pregnancy. 1st they diagnosed me as having a miscarriage and then when I went back in 2 days for them to take my blood, the levels came back lower they then gave me a v____al ultrasound and they found the baby in my left tube I was 7 weeks pregnant. They gave me the methotrexata shot. As far as I know it will not have any effects on future fertility, from what they told me the shot is a mild form of kemo therapy, very mild the only thing you have to do is stay out of the sun. I hope this has helped a little any other questions please ask I may not have covered everything.
