Jennifer- the best progesterone supplements on the market is called, "Crinone" you can get it in 4% or 8%... Its a lot better than the pill because its a gel you insert, so it goes straight to your uterus and keeps your lining thick so you don't m/c. My sister had the same problem that I do (luteal phase defect) and the progesterone supplements she took saved her son's life. My level was 19.1 when I started taking the supps. 2 weeks later it came back 19.2. So, I know if I wasn't on the supplements it would be sustaining like it is. Anyhow, yea... anything over 13 in the first trimester is pretty good. And taking the supplements cant hurt, only help. Sounds like your doing great.. Since your HCG hit over 2000 you can see it on ultrasound now. :)

Daniella- yea the doc just decided to put me on the prometrium and he said it is very contraversial from doc to doc on whether or not it actually helps sustain the pg, but since it is a natural hormone it doesn't hurt anything to take it. My sis-in-law also took the gel supp after 7 yrs of infertility and came out with a beautiful little girl, so I guess it does work. It is just nice for the piece of mind! My first ob appt is Nov 3 and I think we are scheduling an ultrasound then. We have to wait cause my husband just switched jobs so we have a lapse in insurance right now which sucks because i could see the baby now!! But thats okay. by then i should be like 9-10 weeks and it will be guaranteed to see something instead of the maybes, so it'll be ok! But it looks like all is well with this pg!

Jennifer- Well, good luck! Keep posted on what they say when you finally get in.

This site has gave me some hope...I took a pregnancy test 3 weeks ago this coming Sunday. My last LMP was August 16th...so I should be 7wks and 6days this Monday, but I had some bright red bleeding this past Sat., I am so afraid that I have m/c. I was supposed to have my 1st appt w/ the dr today...I had to go early (Monday 10/3) because of the bleeding. They immediately did an u/s and said that I showed that I was only 4wk & 6days...they checked my hcg that day and it measured what they told me was ?600,000 and they said that was correct for 4w6d...the dr said since I was bleeding they would do another hcg test on Wed (it seemed like it would never come around!)...that test showed ?800,000 (I don't know why the numbers are so different from the others I've seen on this forum)...anyways the dr said that although it went up, it should have doubled and I go for another u/s on Mon. The bleeding continues, but is brownish, so it is old blood which is good I was told. I don't know how I should feel...this is my first preg and I have only been married for 4mths...I had been on Yasmin birth control and went off of it and I only had 1 period after that before I became pregnant (could that have anything to do with my situation?)...I am sooo sad and confused :(...my husband is so supportive and loving...I am thankful for him...I know all is in God's hands and I trust in Him...I need some support from anyone who has a similar experience...does anyone have any thoughts for me?

Natasha- Sounds like we are somewhat in the same boat. My lmp was august 1, but I am only 5 weeks along instead of the 7 i thought i was! Strange how that happens! Now as far as your #'s go, im not sure those are right. Mine was 4600 this past wednesday, and i am almost 5 weeks along. Is it possible he said 6000 and 8000? and not 600000 and 800000? The HCG levels are supposed to rise by at least 66% every 48 hours which lets you know things are progressing along properly. As far as the bleeding goes, Im not sure what to say. Some women spot all throughout their pregnancies and never have problems, but others may not be so lucky. Are you sure the blood is not in your urine which would indicate a bladder infection? I had that in my first pg with my daughter. I thought i was spotting every time i wiped (TMI sorry) only to find out it was just a bladder infection! But I also had a miscarriage this past april and that was totally different then the other. I had spotting for about 3 weeks before i finally miscarried. It was the hardest thing. Are you cramping at all or have you pa__sed any clots? Do you or did you ever have symptoms? I lost my symptoms with my m/c about a week before it pa__sed. I was at 9 weeks when it happened, but they think the baby pa__sed on a few weeks before and it just took my body a while to expell it. I would just suggest taking it easy. Dont do any strenuous activity and definately NO s_x!! I know being newlyweds thats hard and all, but that is always the first thing my doc says when i think i might have a complication. But until you get another blood test done to find out if your #s are rising properly, try not to stress yourself out about it, i know easier said than done. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers!

Jennifer and Natasha, every clinic, dr. office, hospital labs are different... That is why you can't have your HCG drawn from one lab, and then get it drawn from another to compare. So, if hers said that her numbers were correct for 4 1/2 weeks, then they probably know what their lab should be at. But, I will say that they should "at least" double every 48 hours in the beginning.. Mine actually tripled. 134 one day, 46 hours later 370, etc. Although, they say once you hit like 20,000 or something.. they double every 3 to 4 days, so I dunno. Basically after 2000 (where they can see on ultrasound) it all really depends on the ultrasound. Best of luck!!!

Natasha - October 7

Jennifer and Daniella-Thanks for your thoughts on my situation. My tests we're drawn at different locations, but the same lab did them. Jennifer-I haven't had any pregnancy symptoms really, no morning sickness (just slight queeziness), my b___sts seems a little fuller but not tender. On a good note, I haven't had any cramping (well at least not even close to period cramping which has never been that bad for me anyways) I have just felt some fluttering feelings in my uterus. When I found out that I was pregnant, I had been using a steroid cream for a rash, but discontinued it's use after I learned I was pregnant...I hope that didn't cause any harm. My husband and I are not having s_x right now...another thing that scares me is the sat I had the bleeding (bright red) we had intercourse the night before...I have heard it is ok, but if it is so ok why do they tell you not to once you have complications? My bleeding is still dark, so I guess that's better than red. Mon seems like it will never come (my u/s), it is so hard carrying on normally everyday (work, etc.) with all this going on, thanks for keeping me in your prayers, you are in mine and all the others are also!

Natasha - October 7

Jennifer-I meant to tell you I hope all goes well when you go for your u/s, I hate that you have to wait because of the insurance situation...at least the baby will be further along!

Daniella - October 7

Natasha- Are you pa__sing any clots at all... or is it just blood on the tissue? As long as you don't pa__s anything you think is odd, then it could just be the bleeding that a lot of woman get while pregnant. Like a "fake" period. lol.... I sure hope the best for you!!

Natasha - October 7

Daniella-I forgot to answer the question about the clots...there is less clotting than what I would have in a period...it is brown string-like tissue that is about as thin as a needle and 1/4 of inch long or less...real tiny little peices. I don't think that it is blood from a bladder infection...my urine is always normal looking and I would think it would be a little bloody. I was really stressed sat(10/1)-wed(10/5)(wed was when I had the 2nd hcg test) so I am hoping that all the stress and anxiety I had up unto that point is what caused my hcg not to go up like it should (as long as it didn't do any harm to the baby). When I go to the dr mon (10/10) I should be showing as 5w6d along...I hope that will be the case and my hcg has went up...I need to have them check my progesterone or at least tell me what it was if they already checked it! I really hope all turns out well for you and Jennifer! God is great no matter what our outcomes! I will have to remember what you said about the Crinone when I go to the dr...maybe I am to far along though...you and Jennifer keep me posted!

Daniella - October 7

Natasha- stress will not affect your HCG. There is nothing you can do about that one. Also, yea... at this point there really isn't anything progesterone can do if you started to m/c. IF not, then its probably not a factor. I had to take progesterone the day I found out I was pregnant. After 6 weeks, its pretty much going to make it or not.... but, taking progesterone if it already decided it wasn't going to make it, can only prolong the inevitable. I surely hope that isn't your case though. Please try not to stress too much and keep posted on how the ultrasound goes. Best of luck!!

Jennifer - October 7

Natasha- I sure hope all goes well with you! I am so sorry you are experiencing all this. But you know what, enjoy your baby while you can. Things may progress along just fine and you may not have any more complications. I would try not to stress yourself out too much unless you start bleeding heavily and cramping. This may just be the way your body reacts to pregnancy! But I will keep you in my prayers and wish you the best of luck! Let me know how the ultrasound goes!

Natasha - October 10

Thanks Jennifer and Daniella, I go to the dr today at 4 and I will let you both know how everything went. I still had bleeding over the weekend, but thankfully no clots or cramps. I was emotionally better over the weekend also. Thanks again! I hope all is well with both of you!

Daniella - October 10

Natasha- Hope for the best but be prepared for the worst! I pray the best for you. If they happen to say that you did start to m/c ask them to follow your HCG down to 0. The week it hit 0 is when you ovulate again and are most fertile. Lets just hope that you didn't lose this and there still is hope. The bleeding could just be from something else. Please keep posted! Good luck!!!

Jennifer - October 10

Natasha- Good luck with your appointment today! Hope all goes well! Let us know what happens! You will be in my thoughts all day long!

I am sorry to hear about of all you. My husband and I just went though our ten IVF and my first hcg leve was a 51 at 13 days. on 15 day it was 62 level, day 18 it was 86 level. my dr says he has patients with lower level have normal healthy babies. They have schedule me for a u/s at 28 days. they won't do any more blood work. But number 8 IVF was successfull, I have a wonderful baby girl who is 2. Miss carried 1 set of twins and 3 other pregancies. It nice to beable to talk to some one, who is in the same situation. good luck to you all and thanks for listening
