I have had 2 children 7 years apart, one when I was 21, gave it up for adoption to a couple trying for 10 years, and had my son as a single mother by choice at 28. I am not in a great relationship at 38 and we are trying for a baby. missed my period, took hpt and it was negative. a week later I took hpt and it was positive... very excited 2 days later start bleeding, went to the doctor, she said that I was bleeding from a polyp on my cervix not "from my cervix and everything was closed up tight. She did an ultrasound, and said there is no way you are 6 weeks, if anything you are 2 weeks. Had a HCG done on 6/1 was 130, a second one done 44 hours later and the level was only 146. I am reading all your posts and I don't know what to think. If I wasn't 6 weeks I could only be 13 days pregnant on the 1st because my fiancee works 2 weeks out of town every month. They have scheduled another blood test but not for another 4 days, should I go in and have them test tomorrow? Why wait? I am feeling SO pregnant..but am afraid that I am just being psycho-symantic. I appreciate all your posts, because I thought I was the only one that is going crazy with the not knowing. The doctors are concerned about the probabiltiy of ectopic...which scares me, but I think some of that is because of the bleeding but the doctor that looked said it was coming from the polyp. Have any of you had problems with polyps on your cervix? thanks for the posting...it is nice to know I am not alone! you can email me if you like cris99518@yahoo.com

Well, I am about two weeks pregnant. Took HPT on 5/31 and got a positive. I started bleeding brown on 6/5. Went to ER and HCG level was 189. Cervix was closed. Then went to Dr. on 6/7 and levels were 231. They were from two different labs and they don't like to do that. So, it is going up and I am getting more blood drawn tomorrow. Should I be concerned? Is low but rising levels good?

they say that every 48 hours you hcg levels should double.

I have learnt alot from this board, Thankyou Laurie for starting it. Tiffany I was wondering if you could email (mandy12345@gmail.com) me the name of the specialist you saw (in case we live close by). I have had a stressed week like so many others on the board. It all started last week when I did a hpt and it was +. I was so happy as I had my daughter through many tries with ivf. I called my OBy made an appt for this last monday. Went in and she tried to do u/s she didn't see anything. Told me to do hcg. The #'s were low 631 as by my calculations I should have been about 6 weeks. At first she was saying I may have miscalculated and may not be that far along. So had to do another 48hrs later this time 711 the # had not doubled - she said there was a problem probably ectopic. She sent me to radiology. The u/s showed nothing, nothing in uterus and couldn't see tubes. She advised me how dangerous a condition (ectopic pg) I maybe in and wants me to get the injection to kill the cells. Did another hcg this afternoon # is still going up but at a reduced rate 861 - the jump is bigger than 72 hrs ago. The Oby has made it quite clear that I either have the injection or get a second opinion or she will not continue with my medical care. But, I don't know who to ask? Where do I start? I just have a gut feeling that having the injection may not be right - especially after seeing Tiffany's story. I'm in northern california and would appreciate any help.

Tracy - June 10

Mandy; if I were you I would get a second opinion!!!! I was told that you can't see anything in the uterus until your HCG level is 1000. I would just call a different doctor, and explain the whold situation. I would rather be safe then sorry. Also I would pray about it, and follow your heart. Good Luck. If you would like to email me my email address is tracya@ventlab.com. I was the tracy on here that had slow rising HCG #'s.

I went to doctor on 6/7 and my test was positive and my hcg was 359. I went for a blood work on 6/9 and it dropped to 314. Today I went for my third blood work. Hopefully, everything is ok.

lakitsha - June 10

felicia, everything will be okay, hopefully!!! i just want to try again and this time succeed at getting pregnant.

felicia - June 10

Thanks Lakitsha! I also went through two ectopic pregnancy. The first was three years ago with IUI. They gave me methotrexate injection and to come back in three days was blood work and my hcg was still climbing so I had to take a second injection. My second ectopic was early this year. As soon as I found out I was pregnant I starting bleeding and cramping. That's when I decide to do IVF. And everything went smoothly with the retrieval and transfer. I keep you in my prays!

lakitsha - June 10

Felicia, how long did it take you to get pregnant after your second ectopic pregnancy? becaude i am having the same symptoms i was 3wks ago when i had an ectopic pregnancy, but i took a pregnancy test and it was negative. i'm just so hurt becauce i thought it was going to have my second child and to find out it was ectopic really did hurt. So guess i'll keep trying. If you wan to e-mail me directly you can at lakitsha.rogers@nch.hma-corp.com. thanks for listening...

felicia - June 10

It took about three months. I didn't have a period right away. So they put me on BC and then I started the IVF.

Hi, My levels are low as well, 3rd test after 6 days only 216 from 146. Had a second ultrasound, doctor says she can't see anything abnormal with ovaries or tubes, and she explained the shot, and it sounds like it has alot of side effects. She said it is the same medicine they give cancer patients (chemotherapy) so we are waiting for another blood test on Monday so see if the levels will go down and it will take care of itself. She is also concerned about ectopic, but feels it is better to wait then to jump into the shot due to side effects. SO I don't know if this helps or not, but make sure you find out the side effects before you rush into a medication. I just wish my body would figure out the pregnancy isn't viable and get on with it, so I can try again.

I am 6 weeks pregnant and my HCG levels are 7300. I had a test 1 week ago and they were at 3200 so they are not doubling like they should. I am pretty worried as i have also had spotting since i found out i was pregnant. Just wondering whether anyone else has experienced these things. thanks
