The answer of "your baby could have brain damage" is a judgemental and an uneducated guess, though likely has good intentions behind it. No one wants to see an avoidable birth scenario. But it's best to speak with a medical professional. Even very healthy non-smoking, non-recreational drug users, and non-drinkers still have babies born with brain damage.
