A couple of nights ago, the guy I'm dating casually told me, "I hope you aren't pregnant." I asked why and he said because he was a little late pulling out, but he didn't seem to mind. WELL I MIND!! I already have a daughter and she's 5 and if Mirena is supposed to be 99.9% effective and all these women are feeling these symptoms of pregnancy...I'm not likin this thing. It's already been 5 years for me and I'm supposed to change it out in October. I am not ready to have a child. I don't think I want another child. This is why I have this, but I'm getting some weird symptoms like I am pregnant and I'm afraid the chances are getting slimmer. Not what I signed up for.

I have had my mirena in since July 09... Lately I feel extra tired, then I can't sleep then I go back to extra tired again. I have a lot of your same symptoms (metal taste, cramping and strange looking spotty periods) I have not had a 'normal' period since April this year. I am extremely, i guess the word would be sensitive, to alcohol the past month and a half. Everytime I drink I vomit perfusly for at least a day. This week I had a sip of a drink and have been sick with pains and cramping going on 5 days. I have taken a test... ladies for the past 2 months they have been negative. I decided to go to my Gyno, but as always he is out of town. I have a really close friend that is an RN who suggest I see a dr immediately. I suggest if you are nervous to do the same.
When I told my Gyno earlier this month about all of the symptoms u guys are having and me, he just explained the mirena again as he had when he inserted it. I have a friend who was 4 months prego with similar symptoms before she went to the dr and found out she was pregnant. I don't want that to be me or pregnant at this time. Dr's do sign different agreements when they receive contraceptives.
The mirena is designed to terminate an early pregnancy... I feel we are all prego and the mirena is in overtime to get rid of it. I know my body... have been preg a number of times, just with no kids.

Are you serious! I know that I just kept feeling pregnant! I mean to the point where I went to the hospital and still they said no negative! But I had 3 babies, I know when I'm pregnant, I took a bunch of tests month after month and negative was the result. I am happy to say, I got it removed! I am so happy and I feel great! If I get prego's oh well b/c I can't take feeling that way all the time! I've already lost 3lbs and its only friday! I had it removed monday! Don't wait until you have to have a procedure with an IV and all that like I did b/c they couldnt find it. Let me know what you find out! I say a prayer for you

well today my general doctor confirmed I have an ovarian cyst. It is causing my pain and nausea. I beg u guys to go get a check up with your doctor. She refered me back to my gyno and suggested i have it removed and stick with the pill. I plan on taking her advice

I've been on this thing since the end of Nov. 09' and in feb. was my last actual period! and now im bleeding no cramping, car sick, engorged b___sts, and garlic makes me sick :(

I have a question. I had my son September 19th, 2009. I had mirena put in about 3 months later. I had little to no spotting (very random). Never anywhere near my normal pre-pregnancy flow. Now as my son is almost 1 year old, (in 1 month) and after having Mirena in almost 8 months, I just started an almost normal flow. Not really heavy. But defiantly not just spotting. I am having cramps, side aches, and headaches. I don't understand what is happening. Is this a sign of pregnancy? I am not ready for another child. and getting pregnant on Mirena could mean the loss of the pregnancy, or loss of fertility. What do i DO? i'm terrified to take a pregnancy test....

Well you could be pregnant but chances are it's just the mirena doing what it does..I had a period for a whole year then it just went away...then some months I would have one others I wouldnt its crazy but take a test if you really think you preggers!!!

Hello my name is Felicia. I have had Mirena for about 2 yrs now and every since i have had it in, I've had spotting and heavy bleeding ever since. I went to my doctor like 9 months after i had it put it in and talked to him about the bleeding so he checked to see where the string is and he couldn't find it so they did a ultrasound and it's in the right place. He asked me if i wanted to change birth control but i was to scared of trying something different cause i can't take birth control pills (they make me sick and i forget to take them)and the patch makes me sick... so i have delt with the bleeding. I would stop bleeding for a couple of days then start back but now i have stopped for 2 weeks now. I don't know if I'm adjusting to it or I'm pregnant. I've felt tired for the past 2 days and i think I'm eating more and i feel bloated. I took a pregnancy test yesterday it said neg. I just feel like I'm pregnant. I don't know maybe it's getting to my head. lol I'm just worried if i am pregnant will there be any danger to the baby?

There could be danger but many women have had healthy babies with the mirena still in because the doc were unable to remove it. Honestly I worried myself sick thinking I was pregnant on that thing for almost 2yrs and after testing every month and getting negatives I finally realized that it is the mirena..It makes you feel pregnant! You get all the symptoms without the baby even the weight gain I've lost 10lbs since I've been off of it! Feeling preggers all the time really made me realize that I do want another child and after that I'm having my tubes tied and I will be done with child bearing and birth control forever! I will never ever recommend mirena to anyone and I hope you find the answers you need also..I found out form a girl who was preggers with mirena that all her tests she took at home came out neg but she demanded a blood test from her doc and after it came up pos and a ultra sound they confirmed she was indeed preggers. So sometimes home test wont work! She is now 7 months and doing well they were able to remove the mirena and she will deliver fine! So good luck to you and if you research pregnant with mirena you will find many stories of women who were and are pregnant with the mirena still in. Hope that helps!!

Well I am preggers so that doesnt really help. Some women say that if you had it in for 2yrs or more that the symptoms continue a while afterwards but do gradually fade.

I had my Mirena IUD placed in 2007, I would have my period every 3 months, they were light,minor weight gain and did not have any weird taste in my mouth as some have described..but I did have severe cramping and acne for the first time in my life..after three years in May of this year I was fed up with with the cramps and acne and got rid of it and went back to pills... I am now having symptoms that I could be pregnant, my periods are spotty at best the last two months and now this current..just curious if I may be pregnant,..however If I was pregnant it would be from April while I was still on the IUD (no there was never a missed dose of BC going from Mirena to pils same day I had it taken out my doc told me to start my pills)...I took a test last month and nothing even showed up..I just figured well Ive been under a lot of stress etc,,but now that this period was two days late.....prior to the IUD placement 3 years ago my periods were very regular and heavy.. been on birth control ten years now...anyone have any suggestions for me?

Give it a week test again if you dont get it and the test is neg ask for a blood test

LOL I ended up starting very heavily a few hours after I posted this so strange.. :) *few* Ive done everything in my power to make sure I do not get pregnant, I have health issues and flat out very content being an Aunt to my wonderful nieces and nephew.

Well, I'm glad you are doing well right now and happy everything is going as planned it can be a little scary when you have health issues and even when you don't! lol
