Need Info On Delayed Birth

I have a friend that is 7 months pregnant and isn't even showing yet. The doctors say that the baby is rather underdeveloped. If it hasn't grown enough by her due date, is it possible for them to delay the birth until the baby is safe enough to emerge? If so, how long?

I have never heard of delaying a birth. Have her call doc and ask to get an ultrasound just to make sure. Maybe the dates are off. Have her check that too. Write back and let us know if anything has changed.

I believe that after a certain point the placenta starts to deteriorate. This may prevent them from delaying her birth. Good luck to her.
