I'm overdue by 8 days and will be induced by Tuesday if labour doesn't start. This hs been the longest week of my life and despite all the material I've read concerning post mature babies and induction, it's not comforting me at all. Has anyone had a similar experience and maybe offer some reassurance? Also what could be the reasons for this? I've had no complications up until this point.

First let me start off by stating that I have never personally been induced....however I have heard some major horror stories of extreme, intense pain or it ending up in c-section. I know there are women out there that get induced and have no problems whatsoever, but I am not sure I would want to risk the alternatives. Trust me I know how uncomfortable you are, I have given birth twice and anticipating a third, but I would try to just let the little guy come out when he is ready, unless it is a risk to either one of your's health. Good luck.

MY QUESTION IS HOW DOSE A BABY LOOCK WHEN YOU ARE SIX DAYS PREGNAT

I've been induced on my first 2 pregancies and will probably be induced on this third. I was overdue 15 and 14 days. The inductions (pitocin) caused very strong contractions with few breaks. I don't know if it feels the same as regular labor. I asked for an epidural as soon as I could get it. After that all went well. I had fantastic births..no tears very little pushing. The babies did fine. Although on the first kiddo they broke my water and then put water back in as well as a fetal monitor on her head as extra precautions. I started induction at 7am with the first and had her at 5:09pm the second 8am and had her at 3:15pm. It's your choice. I had a very positive outcome as well as a positive experience.

Don't worry you have no concerns. I have being induced three times 10 days over each time. I'm from Australia and how it works here is if the baby is due on a certain date and your 10 days over they don't let you go anymore days so induction happens. My reason was because each baby wouldn't engage properly they weren't down enough for a natural labour and I went over my due date. They put the gel in and it took me three days before they realise the gel wasn't working and they had to brake my waters. The contractions are quick and strong but labour is alot quicker. I had pethidine straight away and gas. Just one precaution though if the babies head isn't down enough after the gel you will have a complication because the cord could come first before the head very dangerous but you will be rushed for a c-section. If baby is engaged enough and they induce you because your over due date no problems whatsoever.

THIS IS MY THIRD BABY AND I'M 8 DAYS OVERDUE AS WELL. HANG IN THERE, I'M IRRITATED AND FRUSTRATED BECAUSE EVERYTHING IS ON HOLD--INDUCTION SCARES ME--MY DOCTOR SAYS IT'S WISE TO JUST LET ME GO INTO LABOR NATURALLY BECAUSE THERE ARE LESS COMPLICATIONS LIKE HAVING TO GO THROUGH A C-SECTION. I THINK AN INDUCTION WOULD HURT MORE BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO PUMP EVERYTHING IN TO YOU TO START CONTRACTIONS--WHICH IS IS NOT NATURAL!

I feel for you dear my first baby was scheduled to be induced just like you and i went into active labor the night before my scheduled induction although i wouldn't dialate past 2 so they ended giving me pitocin anyway my labor was 24 hours and then 3 more of pushing it sucks but there is not much you can do. I am now 5 days over due with my 2nd baby and i'm only dialated a centimeter. So it does happen. I have however heard that some women tend to carry their babys for 10 months and I am starting to think I'm one of those lucky ladies. So hang in there I'll pray for you

No matter how many pregnancies and how you give birth (induction or not) you will worry and have concerns. It's only natural. I've been induced on all three. My third they induced me at 38 weeks..the first two were induced 14 and 16 days past my due date. I was induced "early" on the third because of baby size concerns. He was born 8 pounds 3 oz and would've been upwards of 10 near my due date. I'm tall, but the doc still didn't want to take chances. When baby stays in too long there is also a chance the placenta stops giving as much nutrition. Again, I had no complications with all three of my babies and still was induced. I could have chosen to wait a bit longer, but I did not for two reasons..big babies and impatience. It can't hurt to ask your doctor to wait another week before inducing. My inductions went well and my placentas looked like they could have provided nutrition for at least another week if I hadn't been induced. I was just glad to have the babies out and safe.
