Pregnancy After A Myomectomy

Hey girls, how is everyone doing? I am 25 years old and 8 weeks pregnant. I had my myomectomy Jan. 9 and got cleared to ttc in late Feb. I only had to have one fibroid removed so that may be why he didn't have us wait too long before we tried. Good luck to everyone. I will keep you posted on how the pregnancy goes.

MsMonet: It finally happened, didn't it. Twins are always a pleasant surprise, and especially when you get both (boy + girl). You will soon find out the gender(s). I meant to ask, did your insurance cover the IVF ?

It seems that the posting stopped after June 28, 2007 but I'm hoping people are still out there "talking" about myomectomies!! I am trying to decide if I should get one and am glad that this discussion list is available. A little history about me...I'm newly 35 and had a complete molar pregnancy in 2005. Discovered the mole and the huge fibroid at my 10 week OB visit in 2005. Took 15 months for the molar preg to finally leave me system. Now its July 2007 and my husband and I have been trying to get prego since March 07 (when I got the all-clear that the molar was gone). Unfortunately, I've found out now I'm not ovulating and my fibroid is now ~10cm (was 6.7cm in 2005). I'm heavily leaning to myomectomy and really just need to keep hearing positive stories. Are there any others out there that had trouble with ovulating due to a huge fibroid? Its obvious that with the molar pregnancy and the fibroid, my hormones are COMPLETELY screwed up...I must be very heavy on the estradiol. Any comments anyone can offer about fibroids and ovulating? Thanks!!!

MSPOSITIVE-How are you? My insurance covered almost 95% of my IVF. Thank God! Also, this includes the medications. Everything went by so fast.

Hi everyone! Welcome Cupcake. I'm sorry to hear about your troubles..but you are in the right place if you want to hear about MYO. My answer to you would be yes..get that d__n fibroid taken out..but thats just me..if you read all the previous post you can see that I am bias towards those things. In my opinion..this is what you should do...go see a specialist..and have them do all the test to be done..1st thing you need to know.. is this 1 fibroid really causing you not to ovulate or is it something else..hormones? doctors will tell you that a single fibroid usually does not complicate pregnancy...but it all depends on the size and location of the fibroid. Yours is big...in medical terms..but if it is just one shouldn't cause any complications..unless it is in the wall and is distorting the shape of your uterus which would make implantaion difficult or lead to pre-mature labor. The other thing you can also consider is..other types of fibroid removal..you may be able to do some type of out patient surgery. Please go and see a specialist and get more info on your overall health and get more than 1 opinion. What did your previous/current doctor recommend after they discovered the fibroid..did they seem concern or recommend any treatment? Keep intouch..I may not post everyday but I check just about everyday to see if anything new has been added. We can help support you through this. MSMONET! How are you doing? Cupcake is right...where is everyone?

Hi Cupcake... I agree with everything Joker posted to you... a second opinion will help you feel more informed and confident about making a decision. I was totally confused when I was diagnosed with my fibroid and advised to get it removed prior to conceiving. I didn't have any major symptoms related to the fibroid, but after having a second opinion and doing my own research, I realized it was the smartest thing to do. I had one large fibroid which was distorting my uterus. I was ovulating, but because of the location of the fibroid, implantation would be difficult and if I did conceive, the chances of miscarriage or pre-term labor were high. I had my myo in late January 2007 and now we are very actively trying to conceive. Keep posting with any questions you might have or use the board as a sounding post. There is a ton of great information on this board! Good luck to you. Ms. Monet, how are the twins?? Juliane

MsMonet: 95% ??? Wooooww!!! You certainly made optimum/maximum use of them for a good cause. When you talk to most first-trimesters, their major pet-peeve is the "excessive-saliva-metallic-mouth" syndrome. Are you there yet, and what else are you feeling? Me? I'm making arrangements to see the endocrinologist who stood side by side my surgeon in the "cutting room". I figured, why not check in once more with the one who supervised the re-arranging of the parts back inside.

Ms Monet!!!! Congrats on twins!!!!! I am so very, very happy for you. I have such a smile as I write this and I will keep you in my prayers! :-) Sorry I've been out of touch---I wish I had some good news to report but I don't unfortunately. Things are still a bit difficult for me but I'm trying to keep busy, staying focused and remaining positive but it's hard. :-( But when I have my "moments", I always remind myself that God doesn't give you a heavier burden than you can carry, and that this too, shall pa__s. I KNOW it will but in the meantime, it sucks. hahaha!! But I am soooo happy for you! Please accept my congrats and my prayers! :-)

Hello Everyone!! Sorry to have been so long since my last post. I closed out the email account linked to this site and finally was able to find it again. First off - Ms. Monet - Congratulations!! What wonderful news!! I quicky read up on what you have all been up to and am so amazing by your positive outlook. Wishing you so much happiness. Melissa, Hopeful, Neenka - Congrats to you. Hope you are all feeling well and wish everyone very uneventful pregnancies. You all deserve much happiness. Joker - it's almost August - I wish you so much luck. You have definitely given your body suffient time to heal. My thoughts are with you. MsPositive - not sure where exactly you are in the ttc process. Cupcake - I agree with the others to get a 2nd opinion. Personally, if it increases your chances of getting/staying pregnant, I am all for having a myo if fibroids are preventing it. I have another positive story to add, had my first Lupron shot 2 months to the day of my Dec. 2006 myo. IVF early March and now 19w6d pg with twins! My RE was very aggressive with limiting the wait time as I'll be 43 next month.
