Hey everyone. Things are going pretty well. I will be 20 weeks next Wednesday. We find out Tuesday what we are having. I cannot wait. I am finally over the morning sickness, but honestly I feel better than I ever have. Graycat, my doctor told me the best time to TTC was directly after my myo because as he put it, I was completely cleaned out. So far so good, the fibroids haven't returned. Hope everyone is doing well!

Hello Ladies - I posted once a while back. I'm glad to hear that everyone is doing well and moving forward. I have a question about post myomectomy symptoms...I hate to take everyone back to this time. However, I'm a little worries. I had a robotic myo on July 20th and was sent home that evening. Well, almost 2 months later and I still have some discomfort. I feel swollen at the end of the day, little twitches here and there, and I have a stinging sensation after emptying my bladder (I'm sure it's not a UTI b/c I've had one before). Are these things normal? I plan on calling my dr on Monday. I appreciate any comments. Have a great weekend!

Hi praying80..I really can't remember much after the surgery because I was sedated..but I know a month after the surgery when I returned to work I did feel a little bloated but it wasn't anything major..and I did have some weird pulls and stings..but I think that is just your body healing..I also had a epidural with my surgery..so I don't think I felt as much as other who didn't..I honestly had little or no pain and my biggest discomfort was just having to move at a slower pace..i had to remind myself..before my body did that I just had surgery..the bladder thing..I had a problem peeing the 1st couple of days after the surgery but after I drank lots and lots of water whatever the problem was got flushed out. I don't think there is anything to worry about since you just had your surgery in July. Let us know how it goes at your appointment..I'm wishing you the best. MSPOSITIVE...where are you? haven't heard from you in awhile. Hopeful! I'm so happy for you..yea you are at the 1/2 way mark now..we will be here counting down the time with you. Keep posting.. Take Care everyone

hello everyone. so, i'm scheduled to have a myomectomy on the 26nd at 10:30am west coast time, any positive thoughts and prayers are more than welcome! i have me pre-op appointment on the 19th so hopefully i'm know a little more about how exactly the procedure is going to go. i do know that i don't get the luxury of having it done laparoscopically, it's pretty much going to be a big ol' incision. i'm a bit sad to think that i wouldn't ever be able to have a natural child birth, i've always dream about a home delivery but as long as i can have a baby, no matter how it gets here i'll be thrilled.

Hi Graycat!..that was fast...well, th eonly thing I can recommend is ask about getting an epidural..it really helped me..I didn't feel a thing! That is completely up to you...the only other thing is walk..before my surgery other told me how much better you feel after walking..and I can tell you from expereince you feel a lot better. I walked a little the dat after the surgery and I just stared to feel alive again..laying in bed..fluid tend to build up and you just feel tired..but once you get up for a short stroll..your body starts to feel better..your lungs feel cleared and I think your body starts to really heal itself because it is a sign you want to get back to normal! You will be fine..you will be nervous and worried..but don't beat yourself up about that..those feelings are natural..except them and don't fight with yourself..but at the same time understand that although fear is natural you can't let it control you..it won't go away but you have to be stronger than that..and to me once I accepted that I was able to just do it :) I wish you the best of luck and a speedy recovery..keep in touch.

it was fast wasn't it? my husband and i are trying to wrap up all my business obligations, get my house and yard cleaned up and stock pile things for me to do like reading, knitting and catching on some tv series. i need to make sure i don't get cabin fever and start climbing the walls. when i was at the book store i found this book, Fibroids: The Complete Guide to Taking Charge of Your Physical, Emotional and S_xual Well-Being by Johanna Skilling and started reading it last night. anyone here read it? so far it's been really informative. it's shocking to find out that there hasn't been any really good research until some what recently especially since it's so common so. what's even more scary is that if you don't want children that the most common answer is to just remove the uterus all together, just like you don't need it any more! the other thing i have been reading allot about is acupuncture and traditional chinese medicine to help keep the fibroids from coming back after the surgery and also to help with fertility. anyone here experiment with that?

by the way, praying80 how are you feeling? what did the doctor say?

Hi Graycat. It's Sasha here (a newcomer). I wish you the best with your myo on the 26th! I am sure all will go very well. As far as not being able to have a natural birth in the future...I'm in the same boat but just like you said, as long as the baby gets here healthy, so be it for natural. I will definitely have a c section when the times comes to deliver. I am four months post my myo and have to wait two more months before ttc. It's all I think about! :) I am so glad I found this message board. Others are good too however, this one speaks directly to pregnancy agter a myo.

Good evening ladies - I hope everyone is doing well, feeling good, and moving forward. Graycat - I called my doctor late afternoon; however was unable to get in touch with him. I'm expecting to hear from him tomorrow. I'm feeling better and think that the side pain I was feeling was my normal mid cycle cramping. I hope that the swelling is also normal. I'm glad to hear that your doing research and learning more about myos. I'm certain that everything will go well with you Graycat and Everyone else on this board. We have such great stories here. I feel support from everyone here and those who have achieved the ultimate goal (Pregnancy) give me great hope! May everyone have a good evening.

Hello everyon! I am so happy to find this website. I had a m/c 2-07. Originally I was told not to worry about the fibroid. Found a new doctor who told me to have it removed. I had it removed on 8-24-07 and I feel so much better. The surgery went smoothly with my loving spouse on my side and was told by my doc to give it at least 6mnths. I think having the surgery was the best option for me bcse the fibroid was the size of an orange . Its a relief to hear that you can get pregnant after the surgery and this website has given me so much hope. Thank you all!

Thank you Joker. I'm going to see my doctor next yr 2/08 to make sure my uterus is ok before we ttc. Something I learned from reading this website. One thing I don't understand is why isn't fibroids more of a serious topic? I have met women who told me that they had fibroids and like me didn't know much about them. I had an awful doctor at first who constantly told me not to worry about the fibroid. Although, it was a size of an orange. When I became pregnant and m/c, the only option I was given was to take a pill to make sure everything was out and try again. My husband became upset and found a well known fertility doctor in WI who told me to get it removed. I'll be 35 in Oct and also feel like I have to get pregnant soon. I pray the other ladies are ok.

Hello all! I am glad to see that pregnancy exists after myectomy! Congratulations to the ones who could get it and good luck to the ones who are trying! A little background, l live in Uruguay, South America I am 33 years old, and I had a myectomy on August 11, 2007. I recoverred pretty quickly and now I am waiting for the doctor´s green light to start trying to get pregnant. I haven´t tried before the myectomy, I knew because of previous tests that I had fibroids so when we started thinking of having a baby the doctor checked the fibroid size and oops surprise! it grew and also multiplied so I had to go though an abdominal surgery. They removed 2 intramural fibroids sizing 4 cm of diameter and 4 "subserosos" (the ones that grow outside the uterus, don´t know how are they called in English). The doctor told me that the tubs are well conected, that I should start trying four months after the myectomy. But the truth I am afraid to start so quickly. I would like to wait six months, I am afraid I can have a miscarriage if I start too quickly, on the other hand the fibroids can return ( they are like Jason in those terror films). I am still taking Yasmin next month I have to stop taking the pill and start with folic acid. I want to know how much did/do you wait to get pregnant after myectomy and what are the possible complications during pregnancy. The doctor had told me that most complications happen at the time of conceiving and not during the pregnancy. What were your experiences?
