Hi Im new here in July 2007 I had my 3rd mc. I found out in Janurary that my fibroids had got bigger and were in the uterus. So I had them removed in April. The doctor said I had to wait 6 months. I went to the fertility doctor at the beginng of this month and he reminded that there could be uterus complications from the surgery. Which is concerning my DH. Has anyone who has gotten pregnant had any complications after having a myomectomy. I am going to be starting clomid on Saturday.

Hi KB and everyone else~
KB, I have had IVF recently. One unsuccessful with a BFN and then one sort of successful with a BFP but it ended in a 5 week miscarriage. I had an abdominal myomectomy a year and some months ago in May of 2006 for those of you who are asking about pregnancy after myomectomy. KB~ my husband's insurance covered the first two cycles. We will have to pay out of pocket if we decide to do another round. Tasjac0~ what exactly did your doctor think in regards to uterus problems? Does he think potential issues due to scarring? Does he think your lining won't be thick enough? What exactly is he saying? Is he thinking you should go directly to IVF or start with IUI? I know you've had 3 miscarriages and I am so sorry to hear that. I just had my second. Here's my latest story and next steps...It's been a few weeks since my last miscarriage, I am actually taking a little break from IVF for about 3 months to do acupuncture, diet modification and chinese herbal medicine, I've been checking in on all of you guys and I've been so happy to hear of pregnancy news and not giving up news from many! DH and I spoke with our doctor two weeks ago and his thinking was that we should seriously consider using DE but think hard and long about it first. He didn't recommend us going into a third IVF cycle so soon knowing that we would have to pay for it ourselves. Insurance covered the first two cycles. If we use DE, we have a lot of time to consider it - I'll be 43 in April of 2009 but can use DE for the next 2 - 3 years. In the meantime, I started seeing an acupunturist on a weekly basis and have changed my diet drastically. I am also taking krill oil, royal jelly and prenatal vitamins and will begin chinese herbs shortly. I have read many success stories with women undergoing acupuncture. I feel like I need to work on improving my egg quality as well as my uterus. Getting pregnant is obviously not an issue for me. I had one pregnancy in 2006 which ended in miscarriage at 10 weeks and then one pregnancy with my second IVf cyce a few weeks ago which too ended in miscarriage at 5 weeks. My doctor thinks it's an egg issue. That's why he feels I shoould consider DE. I am thinking that with acupuncture, the egg will be a better wuality egg and will hopefully implant and stick better with a better uterus. There have been many success stories even with 42, 43, 44 and 45 year old women becoming pregnant natuarlly with acupuncture. In any event, whether natural or with IVf, we are going to give it a few months and probably do another cycyle of IVF with my own eggs in the early new year if I'm not already pregnant and if that doesn't work, we'll consider another IVf cycle using DE or go to adoption. Has anyone here had any success with acupuncture? Thanks! Sasha~

Thanks Sasha,
I'm really sorry to hear about your miscarriage. Did your dr suggest the herbal diet and accupuncture or did you do that research on your own? Sounds like your dr is really giving you all of the information and taking the time to talk with you which really does help. I think that my dr spent 2 seconds with me during this last visit and referred me to a specialist. His words were... "wow, we didn't see any blockage in that tube during the myomectomy... oh well, I'm referring you to a specialist and hope to hear good news". That was it and he sent me on my way. It's a week later and I had to call my dr back and ask him to refax the info because the specialist never even received it the first time. I've had 2 pregnancies and the one tube was fine and completely open prior to the surgery just 4 months ago. I know that anything can happen but it just didn't seem like the dr cared that much and he didn't even acknowledge that maybe just maybe something could have happened during the surgery to cause it to close. I desperately want to get a second and third and fourth opinion until I can find a dr who genuinely seems concerned but this is costing me so much money. My copay is $50 per visit and my insurance doesn't pay for any type of infertility treatments including the tubal procedure so I'm going to have to come up with $3500 for the hospital fee (it's an outpatient procedure) and $450 for the dr fee. Fortunately the hospital said that they would approve the procedure and file paperwork with insurance anyway because they should pay for the HSG part of the procedure then bill me for the rest so at least I don't have to pony up all of that money before I can get anything done. I've seen different things online like herbs and etc that's supposed to open up fallopian tubes but on the other hand I've seen other sites that say surgery is the only real option that works to open a blocked or damaged tube and you don't know whether its blocked or damaged until surgery is performed. There's so much conflicting information and it's all very confusing and overwhelming. I'm sad that there are so many of us going through these infertility issues but it helps to know that I'm not going through it alone and others understand.

tasjac0 ~ I had a myomectomy in October 2007 and I got pregnant our first try in March 08. I am now 32 weeks pregnant, due in December. No complications due to the myomectomy, knock on wood! I miscarried once in March 07 at 16 weeks due to fibroids, so I know how you're feeling. Feel free to read my backstory in this blog as well as the Part 1 blog. I hope all goes well for you, as well as all of you. Hang in there, ladies, and keep up your faith!

Hi all!! Federica was finally born on october 20. No fibroids on the western front at the c section, everything went well. The only thing the doctor said is that the placenta was too sticked to the uterus and I can have problems with future pregnancies. Hope not!. The baby is doing very well, she weighted 3.080 kg and measured 45,5 cm ,uh huge! My message to all of you is to have faith you will make it.

I hope that I'm submitting this correctly. I am 31 and had a myo in summer of 07--been ttc since feb 08--no luck--I wanted to join this site to keep me encouraged. -been married for 8 years--was shocked that I had 16 fibroids, so decided to have surgery 1st---waited such a long time and just never thought that I would have any problems once we were ready-- only immediate family knows about myo and surgery and difficulty--they would be very negative as my family can have kids, just by thinking about it---so I'm still dealing with the "why me" piece---hubby is positive but he doesn't like to talk about my fears about not being able to conceive. I know that all of you understand what I'm dealing with.

Hi reallyready,
Yes I think that the majority of us can understand what you're going through. I've been encouraged by this site and hope that it does the same for you. I haven't posted in a while because I was dealing with all of the emotions of finding out that both of my tubes were closed after the myomectomy. I was able to get pregnant twice before the myomectomy but both pregnancies ended too soon and I was left without any babies. So, on Tuesday I had a procedure called a fallopian tubal reca___lization which opened up both of my fallopian tubes. I'm super excited and scared at the same time. I pray that I get pregnant this month and that it's a successful pregnancy and that I have a happy, healthy baby to show for it in 9 months. It's been a long time and a lot of heartache so I just hope that it's my time now!!! Keep your fingers crossed for me. KB

Hello everyone, I had a miscarriage in 2005 due to fibroid tumors destorting my uterus. I have 5 to 7 fibroids that only cause heavy bleeding during AF. After three years of trying off and on, I decided to go to an infertility doctor. On Nov 1, she started me on 100mg Clomid on CD 5-9. I experienced symptoms such as hot flashes and headaches. I was taking it during the day for the first two days, then I read that it was better to take it at night to bypa__s some of the symptoms and it worked. I had a few hot flashes through the night but it wasnt bad at all. I had blood work done on the 3rd and 10th day of my cycle. I had my next appointment with my doctor on November 13th. My doctor said my blood work was normal. She said if I do not conceive on this cycle of clomid, I need to call on the first day of my menses to schedule a hysterosalpingogram(HSG) and a pelvis ultrasound. These test will determine the exact location of my fibroids and will also detect if the fibroids are causing blockage to my fallopian tubes. If they are blocked, we have discussed maybe having a myomectomy. I am both excited and afraid of having a BFP because of a possible miscarraige. So, I'm just waiting from now til AF is due to roll in

Good Luck Denice! I'm awaiting a BFP too and I'm nervous, excited and frightened all at the same time. I'm 6 days PO and although I know that's still very early, I don't have any symptoms of a pregnancy so I'm already feeling that doubt creep in but I also don't want to think so positive and get too excited then have my feeling hurt if it doesn't happen this month. This is such a rollercoaster! Baby dust to everyone. KB

News... Ok ladies I may be jumping the gun here and I really don't even want to speak it because I'm so unsure of the results but I think that I see a very, very, very faaaaaiiiiiint BFP!!!! I am 7 dpo today so it's still so, so early but I ordered a ton of the ultrasensitive pregnancy test online and just out of my inability to be patient I took the test last night and left it for about 15 minutes (the test says to read it after 10 minutes) and I can't guarantee it but I really thought that I saw a faint line. I held the test up to the light and I showed DH and held a flashlight underneath it!!!! He said that I was crazy and that he didn't see a thing. So I tested again first thing this morning and saw only one line so I thought that maybe I had just jumped the gun but after 15 minutes I came back and saw that ultra faint line again! I tried taking photos to rea__sure myself but the line is so faint that you can't decipher it on the photo.
Sorry for the long post but I want to recap my journey for those who are new to give you some hope because I didn't have any for such a long time and I just want to share my joy. I have no living children. DH & I had a 6 wk m/c in 05. We didn't try again until 07. We tried for 6 months with no luck so Dr. ordered an HSG. The HSG showed one tube closed and one tube open and I also had 3 fibroids. DH & I got pregnant the very next month.
I carried my son for 21 weeks and went into preterm labor due to degenerative fibroids and lost him at home on March 7th 2008. I had an abdominal myomectomy in June 2008. We began TTC'ing again towards the end of August of 2008 with no luck. So I went back for an HSG in Sept. of 08 which showed that both of my tubes were closed. I went in for a tubal reca___lization procedure to open up my tubes the first week of this month (Nov) and was told to begin ttcing immediately so I charted my ovulation and ovulated on November 13th and BD'd the entire week!
Again, I may be jumping the gun but I just can't imagine seeing two very faint lines on two different test and it not be true? I really hope that this is true. I would absolutely love to have morning sickness right now to confirm my hopes and dreams. As of now I'm not having any major pregnancy symptoms just my normal aches and pains so I'm confused and nervous and just pray to God that I'm not imagining things. KM Williams I wanted to especially let you know because you always have such positive things to say! I wanted to give some positive news and hope for others. Baby dust to all of you and me too!!!! I will keep you posted. I went online and ordered 10 more test just so that I can keep testing til the line gets dark enough for a real confirmation!!!!!
