Pregnancy After Tubal Ligation

Can we afford to lose our one or both of our tubes? Not to sound dumb, but what happens if we do?

Yaya Rodriguez - July 29

Nicole- If we lose both of our tubes we would not be able to conceive naturally, thus the use for IVF can be used to try to conceive. If we Lose one tube then our chances are still good as we can still try to conceive naturally, but I don't believe that our chances are that great as if we were to have both of our tubes. OTHERS- Please elaborate as this is just info that I have researched and have up in my head.

I had a tubal ligation in 5/99 after the birth of my son. They were just crimped and not cut. I look like I am 6 months pregnant. I have had my periods all along. I have only taken 1 hpt and it was negative, that was because a woman asked me when I was due. I have gained 20 lbs since march. I feel movements but I blame it on gas. I went to the Dr. she wouldn't check me for pregnancy. But she gave me a perscription for lexapro and told me to do sit ups to get rid of my fat belly. Then sent me on my way.

Confused1, What type of mess is that? I have never heard such a thing. Did the Dr. tell you the reason for the weight gain? Are you depressed or what's going on? Please go to another Doctor or go back and insist she check you for pregnancy, menopause, or something!

My dr. said that I gained weight from being depressed. I have suffered from depression before and never gained weight from it. But the Dr won't look further into it to. I had a tubal ligation and I have been having periods, so she says it's very highly unlikely I would be pregnant. I have gained weight in my belly, hips and b___bs. I'm 30 years old, I hope it's not menopause. My friends and family said I should look for another Dr.

TO Confused1 - go to another dr. immediately. Don't ask for a blood test to test for pregnancy INSIST upon it. If the dr. gives you any flack tell them that they get paid either way so what is the harm in putting your mind at ease. Besides plenty of women have been pregnant and had a period the entire time. It isn't unheard of. Besides it is two seconds out of the nurses day to draw your blood and send it to the lab. And if they don't you could have the right to sue them if you are pg and they never checked and something happens to the baby. Please go to another dr. right away. Remember they work for you...not the other way around.

Ok here it goes i could really use some help i'm losing my mind. My tubes have been tied for 3 years. This month i took an hpt. Faint positive. Also i am on the pill to regulate my cycle. So anyway, had a faint positive. My period came a week early, and i've now had it for 2 weeks. But i have once during the day then it's gone. Now i am getting pregnancy symptoms, fatigue, hungry all the time, peeing a lot, mood swings(bad mood swings) so i took another test, this one came up fainter then the first. Is it possible i could have been pregnant with twins and lost one, but i don't know if my hormone levels would drop and then rise again. Can anyone help me plz?

MG it could be that you are just pregnant. When it is earlier in the pregnancy it barely shows up but the futher you get pregnant the more pink the line becomes. You can still have a period and be pregnant. The risky thing is that, it could be a ectopic pregnancy if you had a tubal. Go to the doctor asap so they can check. If you wait it could kill you. I'm not trying to scare you and hope it is a pregnancy in the uterus. It's better to rule it out than wait. Keep us posted!

To Everyone: Ok here is a question that I have been pondering on for just a little while now. Why we are wondering when we should get the tubal reversal done in order to have more children shouldn't we have the men in our lives get a s____n a___lysis? That way we can rule out the fact that if we aren't able to conceive that we just didn't spend a good chunk of change on something that won't happen because of our significant others inability to reproduce? I know that this sounds off subject, but I am thinking that this is a very important step in the process of deciding to have a tubal reversal. Has anyone else had their spouse get a s____n a___lysis????

In March 2003 my husband had a vasectomy- we had 3 kids and were done- May 2004 found out i was pregnant (Thank God for his lil miracles) After i had him Jan. 2005 i had my tubes tied Now other than the normal bleeding after delivery i haven't had a period since April 2004 and now my lower belly is hard and puffy and i have slightly crampy feelings i do nurse so that might explain the periods although i nursed all my kids and got my period back by the time they were 3 mths old- but what are the odds of both my husband and myself being "fixed" and us having more children?

if it is an ectopic would the pain start suddenly or just keep getting worse. And if i am pregnant, why would my second test be lighter than the first, it should have gotten darker. Though i would love to have another baby.

Hello everyone.. I need some opinions from anyone that is willing to give one!!! LOL.... I have not had a period for 6 weeks. I missed my last one of course and I am about to miss my second one. My tubes were cut and sealed at each end 7 1/2 years ago. I have missed periods before sue to a hormone imbalance but .. never like this.. I took 2 hpt.. 1 was negative and the other was negitive for about 10 min. and then turned a extremly faint positive. You really had to look to see it. I have all the symptoms of pregnancy... Here is the kicker though.... My b___st are leaking milk!!! They are swollen and tender. I called my doctor.. he said that I am probably not pregnant.. because my tubes are tied but I should still come in for a visit. What else could cause your b___st to leak milk besides pregnacy???? Any help would be greatfully appreciated! What is the chance of being pregnant??? Also.. I am having like menstrul cramping off and on??? BUT NO PERIOD! HELP ANYONE!!! PLEASE....

Gina~ update sorta - August 2

Well I had an ultrasound and they saw a gestational sac(nothing else). I was 5 weeks then (thought I was ten but June 17th I had a weird period..). I go back for another ultrasound this Thursday to see if there is a heartbeat, yolk sac, etc. They did a beta HCG and my numbers did double as they would in a healthy pregnancy.... This is all still soooo weird to me. I will post here when I find out some for sure answers.

kim - August 5

did everyone here still use birth control?

Paula - August 5

To Kim...why would we use birth control? According to the chartsin dr's offices everywhere, once you have a tubal ligation you will NEVER BE PREGNANT AGAIN. So why wouls we bother with the ha__sle of keeping up with birth control when we took the step to control births with the procedure...or so we thought.
