**VERY IMPORTANT PLEASE READ**
To all those who are asking about ceasing the progesterone supplements:
I've been reading about this for sometime now, I've also talked to other women on progesterone supplements, the advice is DO NOT stop taking them until at least 12 weeks, some actually take up to the 3rd trimester.
Progesterone in the natural form (prometrium/pessarys/suppositories) will not harm you or your pregnancy, it's natural, it's not a synthetic progesterone.
Another thing:
When you cease the prog supplements, you shouldn't cease it at once, it should be a gradually process, sort of like weaning yourself off it.
These are only my findings from personal research, I am not a doctor, I'm just a woman obsessed with reading about progesterone support...lol
take care all, wishing you much success with your pregnancies,

I agree, the placenta doesn't take over until week 12 so the supplements are necessary until then! Why risk it now after taking it for so long?

So what is the verdict, do drs normally stop progesterone cold turkey or do they take you off slowly. Ladies, how have your doctors handled this. I am curious also. What week normally do they stop the hormones.

I went to the doctor yesterday and I asked about the progesterone and she said it is ok to go off of it at 12 wks. She said my numbers were "through the roof" it was at 30 and she said it was way above normal. The placenta at 12 wks takes over. She said it is ok to go right off of it, because the body is then producing enough. I asked about going for another blood test to make sure it stay high and she said it was not necessary, that the #;s go up and down all the time and that is would only cause me more stress. I really feel it works because last night I heard the heartbeat at 14 wks, if it wasn't for the extra hormones I would not be pregnant right now. It is really sad that all it takes is one simple blood test and so many women would not have to experience a miscarriage. I wish everyone good luck.

Hi Susan,
That's excellent. Happy and Healthy 9 months (or less now i think) to you.. I've just started on the progesterone but I won't be testing with HPT for another few days. I feel tired though and I'm only taking the suppositories during the day, do you feel tired to.. or anyone else?

Just wanted to give all of you who have been following my posts an update. Today I am 12 weeks pregnant. My obgyn checked my progesterone levels yesterday and they are up to 31.3 so I can FINALLY stop my suppositories. However, contrary to other posts that I have ready, my obgyn told me just to stop the 600mg "cold turkey" and that there is "no need to wean off". I guess different doctors have different opinions. Hopefully everyone is doing well!

Happy 4th!! I have a question.I'll be 11 weeks tomm But my doctor weaned me of the progesterone last week. They told me the placenta will be fine. I don't have to be 12 weeks I hope she is right considering everone on here goes off at 12 weeks Wondering why she stopped me at 10 1/2 weeks anyone else stopped sooner than 12 weeks??
