I've been reading the posts on this site constantly and am finally ready to share my own story. I started prometrium at 7 wks when my progesterone level was low at 13.7. Since I miscarried this past summer, my question is, why didn't my OB check my blood levels right away when we said we were going to start trying. I read all these posts and many of you had blood work done early on, and ultrasounds so early. I'm finally getting my ultrasound at 10 wks- My only experience with an ultrasound was so, so sad. I really hope and pray that this is the opposite experience this time. I've noticed that we don't hear many follow-up posts whether or not women who shared their worries on this site made it past their first trimester. I hope things turned out fine and that is why they didn't return to the site. Thank you to those of you who have rea__sured us that supplements DO save a pregnancy. Every ounce of a__surance is comfort medicine in this hard time.

Heather O.- First of all, congratulations on getting this far in pregnancy. You may already know but your chances have increased to 85% chance of having a healthy pregnancy. I have had two misscarriages and am now 6 weeks pregnant and on progesterone so I know how dreadful the "first trimester wait" can be. You had mentioned that your doctor didn't do an ultra-sound right away. That is a little strange. My Doctor always does an Ultrasound on the first visit(provided you are 5 weeks or more so there is something to see)She verifys that the embryo is in the uterus and of coursed pinpoints the due date. Did you know it is your right as a paiteint to request an Ultra-Sound? At any time of Pregnancy? Of course your insurance may not pay for Ultrasounds that aren't medically necessary but if you want one for piece of mind, just tell your doctor you would like one. Good luck and let us know how it goe. Oh, yeah, I have had success on 2 other pregnancys with the progesterone, the time I didn't take it was when I misscarried. Hope this helps. Let's cross our fingers for both of us!

Becky,
This is the Michelle who asked how you have the strength to go on. I know that it has been awhile since you answered me, but I wanted to thank you and give everyone hear an update. My preganancy ended up being a tubal. I have a wonderful doctor who was able to find it the day after I last logged on. I got methotrexate shots. There was no physical pain, but my body did react to the shot. Lots of nausea, vomiting, and generally being out of whack. I was very very fortunate in that my tube did not rupture and the fetus dissolved on its own. Even though no baby came from it, the doctors don't think I have permanent damage, and the tube should work again. I tried very hard to find some good out of this, and I did. I found out how much my husband loves and supports me. I also found my faith in humanity. So many kind words from people I didn't know who have been through this. I do have hope now. The new lady at my job had one, lost a tube, and now has 3 children. She started at age 36. My grandmother revealed to me that she had 5 miscarriages in between giving birth to her three 'miracles.' So, if anyone out there is thinking of giving up hope, please don't. I'll do a better job of checking on all of you. God Bless, and know that I get on my knees at night thinking of all of you.

Michelle, I am so sorry about your tubal. I have to say that although I know there is nothing I can do to help ease the pain you are feeling. I think your att_tude is wonderful and you are not alone-my girlfriend also had several mc's and then several tubals which left her with one ovary and finally after alot of praying and trying she conceived and gave birth to a boy. I will be praying for you as well. Keep us informed of how you are doing. God Bless

I'm so happy to find out I'm not alone. I'm about 5 weeks and my progesterone is 4.1, but my hcg is 14,463. I've been put on prometrium 200 mg 2x a day. My question is, is my hcg normal. All the sites I've checked show that's the level of a 6 week old. I'm so scared. I had a m/c around this time last year. Any advice or support. God Bless.

No dear it is not OK, u should go to your doctor and she will advice you progesterone suppostories or progesterone cream to apply,it will help u to keep your pregnacy, else the lack of normal progesterone level can end in misscarriage.

Thanks Nasira. I am currently on 200mg 2x a day of prometrium. I was curious about the hcg levels. Mine is 14,463 and all the sites seem to say that is too high for about a 5 week pregnancy.

I have been reading here for the past 5 weeks. I had a m/c last October at 6 weeks. I had my first AF, then got pregnant the next month of trying. I began spotting at around 4 weeks. I had an u/s done and my dr saw the sac and said that it was still too early to see the fetal pole. She told me that my progesterone level was at a 6.27 and that I was to remain "cautiously optimistic." She prescribed me 400mg of prometrium (suppositories), and told me to come back in a week. I went back 1 week later to see a small embryo. Another week pa__sed and I began bleeding one afternoon. I had bright red blood and cramping. I waited, expecting the worst, and went to see my dr the next day to find a growing embryo and a heartbeat! All the while I had continued taking the progesterone. I am now 11 weeks and just saw the fetus 2 days ago. My little noodle was waving his/her arms and legs. I even saw these tiny little fingers! It was amazing. My dr. told me that I can stop the progesterone this week, but I think that I will continue for 1 more week until I am 12 weeks. I truly believe that the progesterone saved my pregnancy. I have seen and read others stories on here and it helped me to remain positive. I'm not quite out of the woods yet, but I am definitely becoming more sure that I am going to have a healthy little baby in my arms in August!
Stay positive everyone.

It's good to see stories like yours, Andi. I pray everyday that my baby will be fine. I don't know if I will survive another m/c. It takes me so long to get pregnant in the first place ( I only have one functioning tube). Congratulations, Andi and I will keep all of you in my prayers.

Andi, I am so happy for you and I also want to thank you for posting your story. I am about 6 1/2 weeks pregnant post m/c and I am taking 200 mg of prometrium(progesterone) a day. So far everything is going good but there isn't a minute that doesn't go by that I am not scared. I do have alot of abdominal pain. Do any of you other women have abdominal pain with pregnancy's. I seem to recall I had this when I was pregnant with my two boys but is has been so long I don't remember. Anyways, I have an appointment next Thursday-I waited to call because I wanted to be sure that the first time I had a looksy that it wouldn't be too early. That just makes time drag on. By then I will be almost 8 weeks and if everything is okay, I should see a heartbeat! Your story really inspired me, Andi and I have you in my thoughts and prayers.

Hello, I am 20 weeks pregnant, and my doctor gave me some natural progesterone (Utrogestan) when I was 8 weeks pregnant and told me that I should take it until 30 weeks. He didn't test my progesterone level, probably because we don't have such a test in Romania. Could anyone tell me if such a long period of time of taking progest could harm my baby? Thanks.

At 4wk4d hcg was 500 at 5w0d it was 2000 and at 5w2 day my prog was 8. At 5w3 day hcg was 5300 and U/S showed sac but no fetal pole. Dr. put be on 200mg vagia___l suppistories 2x daily and said we would see what happens, she told me to come in for another u/s in 1 week. I had an u/s yesterday at 6w3d and saw fetal pole and heartbeat. We are hoping that this is a good sign.

Bethany- I would not worry too much about your HCG levels being high. Maybe you are having twins! :)
Ileana- I would not worry about taking the progesterone. It will not harm your baby. I took progesterone with my first pregnancy because it was low and she is now a healthy, beautiful 19 month old. I am about 8 weeks pregnant and am using progesterone suppositories again. They did not even test my progesterone level. They just said it won't hurt so let's do it again. I have my first ultrasound scheduled to see the little one at 10 weeks. I like the rest of you hope that all goes well.
To those of you who are worrying about your progesterone levels being low even though your HCG levels are high...Good things still can happen. Like I mentioned above my first baby is proof of that!
To those of you who are still spotting while using progesterone. Maybe you have a cyst on your cervix that is irritated and bleeding. That happened to me. Not all bleeding indicates miscarriage! In fact, I know numerous people that spotted and have had normal healthy babies!
Good luck to all!

Hello everyone- I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to post tonight but I think I will feel better if I talk about it. I had an ultrasound today and I should have been 7 weeks along. There was no embryo in the sac, so I probablly have a blighted ovum. My doctor said it is possible I am just not as far as long as I think I am and we will do a repeat in one week. I feel so depressed and I can't stop crying. This will be my third misscarriage, my second in a row and this time, I never had any indications that anything was wrong, No spotting, no cramps just pain in my ovaries which wound up being cysts. I can not go through this again. I have been praying so hard that maybe I am only 5 weeks instead of seven but I used an ovulation prediction kit so I know exactly when I ovulated. Anyways, I don't know that I will be posting for awhile. I am real depressed but I do still want to know how all of you are doing so I'll still scan the site every once in a while. Good luck to all of you. You are still in my prayers,

Hey everyone, I just stumbled upon here and though this may not have much to do with the topic at hand, I'm desperately looking for someone who can give me any kind of helpful information. I was 3 weeks pregnant and started bleeding alot just this past thursday and friday. The bleeding has slowed today but I'm extremely worried. I'm only 17 but me and the dad have every intention of keeping our baby. I went to the doctor to find out anything (because I'm so very afraid that the bleeding symbolized a miscarriage) so she gave me a urine test and told me I wasn't pregnant and that I probably just had a miscarriage but beyond that gave me no details or anything (so obviously this visit wasn't very comfoting at all). Anyways, I'm not ready to accept that I've lost my baby already - and I'm looking for any shred of hope for a reason for the bleeding other then a mc. The bleeding isn't like a normal menstral cycle - its like red water, there's a lot, and it was consistent. I asked the doctor that gave me the urine test for a blood test and she said that it wouldn't do me any good - that I wasn't pregnant (alothough I had already been told from another doctor prior to this visit that I was) Please, if any of you know anything about this or about other things that it could be then a mc I'd greatly apprechiate the info. Also, could it seem to a urine test that I'm not pregnant bc my hormone levels are down due to the bleeding? or is that not a possibility? Thank you so much
