For those of you who are hesitant about the supplement, I would say, stay pretty inactive till at least 4 months because progesterone is what helps your placenta form, until it is fully formed you are very high risk

Sandra & Others. I'm so sorry to hear about your dropping HCG levels. I have had 2 miscarriages, and am now 10 weeks pregnant. My doctor had me start prometrium (200 mg) as soon as I thought I conceived this time. At my 6 week checkup my progesterone level was 40.4! We just did an ultrasound yesterday and the fetus is 6 weeks 1 day! I don't understand how this could be since my pregnancy test was positive on Xmas eve and my last period was Nov. 29, 2004. They couldn't find a heartbeat which really has me scared, but they're saying I could've conceived much later than originally thought. I just had bloodwork today for an HCG and progesterone level and am axiously waiting for the results. If all is well, I was told that any progesterone level over 12 is fine and that I'd need to stay on the supplements through the 12th week of pregnancy. Hope this helps, but please pray that this pregnancy is viable!

Stefani & Vanessa, your messages were a comfort to me. The waiting is stressing me out, and I really want to be a mom! But I am rea__sured by your words that God is in control and when it is meant to happen, it will happen. I will try to stop worrying and let go of my need to be in control!

Amber- The same thing happened to me. I had an M/C in October, got pregnant again in December and even took an ovulation kit to find out when I was ovulating. When I went to the doctor for my first check-up I thought I was almost 7 weeks and thought we should see the heartbeat on the ultrasound. There was only a sac and no baby and I bawled thinking it was a blighted ovum again. My doctor said the same thing as yours, that I probablly conceived later than I thought. They said my hormone levels looked so good that she felt everything was okay. I made an appt. to come back in one week and we saw a healthy embryo and heartbeat and I was in fact a week off on my due date so please hang in there. I don't know how it happened but at this point I don't care- I just want a healthy baby so good luck and remember my story. I will be thinking of you!

Hello all I havent left a message in a while. just wanted you all to know that my wife had a beautiful little girl Jan 10, 2005. My wife was only 32 weeks but due to high blood pressure, the baby had to come 8 weeks early. All is well now...and hopefully our little girl will be able to come home in about 2 weeks. She weighed 2lbs 13oz on arrival...but now she is 3lbs 8.5 oz. We are hoping the best for all of you. AND....this is the alpha and omega...we dont want to ever go through this again! :) One miracle is good enough for us!

Amber - February 8

Becky, thanks for your feedback. It definitely encourages me! I don't really know how I could be 4 weeks off since I didn't have a period in December, but I'm not going to worry about it anywmore. They are checking my hormone levels again in 2 days, then they'll compare the HCG levels to make sure they're almost doubling like they should be. So I'll know more at the end of the week. Thanks for everyone's info; it's all very helpful!

Hey Everyone! I'm relieved to find out that a low progesterone level is not always bad news. I found out I was PG last week.I am 5 weeks now. My husband and I were very happy. I had a miscarriage last Nov. I've had bleeding since Friday which really worried me. I went to the Dr. today and they told me my HcG is low (97) and my progesterone is low (4.2 ) for being 5 wks. PG. I'm trying to stay optimistic but it's hard. Especially with these low levels and the bleeding. My husband has been very supportive and no matter what happens we will keep trying. This is our first but not our last. God will bless all.

Sandra - February 8

Amber- Good luck to you! I know what the waiting game is like. Let us know how it goes. My prayers are with you! Congratulations Ray!

sounds like, you need to be put on progesterone ASAP. Here's a little of my personal story. I'm 28 yrs. old with two beautiful daughters. No complications with either pregnancy. Then in August 20004 I found out I was expecting again. The pregnnacy ended in miscarriage at approx 8 wks due to low progeterone which I found out about afterwards. Now I am pregnant agin and began v____al suppositoires 100mg 2x a day at 5wks. I'm now 7wks.3 days according to the u/s although my doc says I should be 8wks5days. Baby has a healthy heartbeat and is growing but I've been spotting and cramping on and off for about five days. Just cross your fingers and be PROACTIVE with your dr. Wishing you the best.

Sandra & others - Things aren't looking so good. I just had my second blood test and got the results from Tuesday. The HCG level was 21,796, which is very, very low. 4 Weeks ago the HCG level was just over 16,000 and that number should double every 2-3 days during the first 2-3 months of pregnancy. I am going to a high-risk pregnancy specialist tomorrow. I think it's time, especially since this will be the 3rd lost baby. We'll see what he has to say, but it does appear that this baby stopped developing 3-4 weeks ago. I'm hoping I don't have to have another D&C, because it involves anesthesia, expensive medical bills and missing more work than I'd like. Maybe once I stop the progesterone supplements my body will miscarry on its own; but the fact that I haven't had any bleeding or cramping at all may mean that I'll have no choice and will need the D&C. Please keep me in your prayers!

To Amber: You should wait to let your boby do the right thing, years ago women did not have the technology we have today and things worked out. I had a miscarriage in Nov and the Dr wanted to do a D&C and I said I wanted to wait. So I waited about 3 weeks and my body finally had the miscarriage. If you want to wait ask the Dr how long is safe to wait for a natural miscarriage. I too had no cramping or bleeding prior to the miscarriage but it was going to happen anyway because the numbers weren't increasing like they should and when the sac should have been 8 weeks it only measured 5 and a half. It is hard to wait but it was totally worth it. Good Luck to you and God Bless.

Sandra - February 10

Amber-Your story is very similar to mine. My baby stopped growing at 6 weeks. My heart aches for you having to go through this 3 times. How stressful and traumatic! I am glad that they will be sending you to a specialist. I do not blame you for not wanting another D&C. Of course you have the expense, but man that anesthia really sucks! I stopped taking the progesterone and soon as I found out I was going to miscarry. I had hoped that I would miscarry on my own. I started to miscarry the night before my scheduled D&C, but I didn't manage to do it. I still had to have the D&C. I actually started to miscarry before the doctor thought I would. It was about 6 days after I stopped using the progesterone. You could ask your doctor about giving you cytotech to induce miscarriage. It is a lot cheaper and works well for many women. You are in my prayers. Please keep us updated. I joined a site (recommended by Andi) at ttclounge.com. There are a lot of women to talk to about pregnancy, miscarriage, etc. It seems to be a good support group! Take care of yourself and God bless!

Amber - February 10

Thanks, Sandra! I sure do appreciate everything you said and I'll ask my new OB about the cytotech. I'll keep you in my prayers, too!

I just wanted to let everyone know who is currently taking progesterone....My levels were way low with my daughter and I took the supplement prometrium (pill) for the fist 12 weeks with her I was bleeding very bad and having horrible cramps too, even after taking the pill for about two weeks....She turned out fine she is a year and 6 months old now and she is very advanced and I had no problems. I am currently prengnant agian and on prometrium agian but this time I took it sooner and thankfully there has been no problems.. I just wanted everyone to know that in my case It has helped me not loose my baby's. I don't know what I would do with out my daughter. My doctor also said this form of progesterone you cannot have enough. If you have any more questions please let me know if I can help.... God bless everyone :)
