I just wanted to let everyone know who is currently taking progesterone....My levels were way low with my daughter and I took the supplement prometrium (pill) for the fist 12 weeks with her I was bleeding very bad and having horrible cramps too, even after taking the pill for about two weeks....She turned out fine she is a year and 6 months old now and she is very advanced and I had no problems. I am currently prengnant agian and on prometrium agian but this time I took it sooner and thankfully there has been no problems.. I just wanted everyone to know that in my case It has helped me not loose my baby's. I don't know what I would do with out my daughter. My doctor also said this form of progesterone you cannot have enough. If you have any more questions please let me know if I can help.... God bless everyone :)

Angel-Thanks for your response. It offers me a glimmer of hope. I am currently on the progesterone suppositories and have been having some bleeding and cramping but the u/s looks good. I sooooo desperately want to have this baby. I have two beautiful daughters 7 and 5 who have been begging my husband and I for a sibling. I already had one m/c in August 2004 and do not want to go through another one. Thanks for spreading your optimism.

It's comforting to know i'm not alone in this. I am currently 7 weeks along and my doctor called with my blood test results which indicated I had normal HCG levels (58,000), however low progesterone levels at 7.5. I am starting the progesterone suppositories today. I'm praying everything works out. Do the v____al suppositories typically work at raising progesterone levels?

llison-According to what I've researched and heard every person responds differently to the use of progesterone. Some have significant increase in their numbers and some have barely any. I know what you must be going through. I'm on the suppositories 2x daily . Your HCG numbers are great though!! Haved you had an u/s yet? I went in for bloodwork yesterday and my doc says that if my numbers are still low then the u/s will take precadence because so far the fetus looks good with a nice heartbeat. My fingers are crossed for you. Keep in touch.PS -my dr. has also put me on bedrest till I reach 12 weeks. I'm almost 8wks. along

I am so relieved to have found this site too! I have been on an emotional rollercoaster! Thank you for sharing your stories.. it helps to know that I am not alone. After many years of trying and multiple IUI's, I found out that I was finally pregnant 2/3 (during a blood test prior to impending surgery!!!!). They said my progesterone was on the low side at 8.4 and HCG was 15... since then, I have had blood tests every 48 hours and my HCG is progressing normally, but progesterone is teetering from 8.7-10.1.. yesterday I was prescribed progesterone suppositories of only 50mg once daily. According to my IUI date, I should be 5w2d today.. My HCG was 550 yesterday.. Do these numbers sound low? I have not had any spotting or cramps and still have the same pregnancy symptoms as last week. Everyone seems to be on higher levels of progesterone than me.. I am starting to feel like I should take more than 1 per day, but don't want to go against my MD's recs.. I am scared.. this is my first pregnancy after such a long journey. If anyone can offer advice, I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks..

There's some information about natural progesterone cream at this site, which I used during my first trimester as soon as I found out I was pregnant and had no problems. Some good information is here: http://www.minntaccdp.com/lou/5preg.html I found the cream at a nearby health food store. Best wishes to you ladies!

Dear Stephanie-I am in a similar place. My Dr. told me on Friday that my level was 9.9, no explanation provided. He put me on a natural progesterone supplement and told me to call Monday. This is the longest weekend ever…I am sorry to say it but from what I read so far the chances that our babies will curry to full term are slim. If any one has encouraging words for me please do. My hopes and prayers are with you Stephanie and your baby.

Hello everyone, I hope you all are doing well. I am currently 9 1/2 weeks along and so far, everything is going good. I wanted to share with all of you the best thing I think you can do for yourself while you are pregnant and worried about the health of your baby. I rented a fetal doppler for $25 a month from bellybeats.com I had to work at it for a few minutes but I was already able to hear my baby's heartbeat-160 per minute!! It was so thrilling and so relieving and not having to wail for my 12 week visit to wonder if I will hear that Heartbeat or not is the best thing for my nerves. I totally recommend this to any of you. I will gladly pay $25 a month for piece of mind. It says you can hear the heartbeat as early as 8 weeks. Anyways, if you want more info go to bellybeats.com Good luck to all and all of you are in my prayers

I had the same problem and they put me on progesterone pills twice a day. I started these as soon as I found out I was pregnant. Now I am at 19 weeks and I have a healthy baby boy on the way! I have also spotted some along the way.I went in to see my doctor and had another sono. My doctor said everything is fine. Don't worry. It will all be fine!

Roxi - February 15

Hi ladies... Just looking to you all to share some insight on this whole progesterone thing. I am about 7 weeks along w/my 2nd one & on Fri 2/11, the stupid med a__sist for my OB/GYN calls & says in a rude, psychotic tone "Roxanne you must take these pills immediatly 2x daily or you will loose the baby." I'm staring @ my phone like what? she proceeds to tell me my Progesterone level is low. Ok, that's it? Can I speak to the MD? he was not available. Boy, I was under the impression that in this country it is illegal for an unlicensed person to give medical advice. I started the pills that same day & all of a sudden fell ill. I ended up in the ER w/103.9 F fever. Coincidence? I'm still taking those pills because I am waiting for that office to switch my records over to this new OB I found. I had it out w/that same lady on Monday & told her she had no diplomacy whatsoever. She told me she is an OB in her Country, well, we are in the USA not there & she is given too much liberty in her workplace. I don't understand any of this. From what I have read here is even if I take these pills I can still m/c? what does D&C stand for? Please Help!

Dear Roxy- I am sorry you had to go through a bad experience but also relieved to hear you story! I also had a call from the nurse, and I was pretty confused. I had a million questions she couldn’t answer. some general some specific to my medical history. I inquired about the Dr. and she said I should just take those pills through the v____a (wasn’t sure what she meant but hey in my condition I will try anything) and that the Dr. had no need to see or speak to me. My husband called and got to talk to the master himself which basically provided no other significant information. I was so angry but I also doubted myself for the right to be so. I felt that the Dr. should have been the one to tell me that face to face giving me the chance to ask questions and providing any explanations. But I was also angry at the world for sending adversities my way so early in the pregnancy. And so I wasn’t sure that that anger was not being transferred and confused between the two. What do you ladies think? Do I have the right to be angry? Should things have been done differently? My other question is regarding the pill administration through the v____a…I called the same nurse (is the Dr. ever there?) to say some of the substance was coming back out the same way it went in! She said to shove it deeper. I tried and had no significant change in the results. Should I take it orally? I am finally meeting the Dr. for another blood test and a sonogram on Thursday morning; should I just continue what I am doing and wait it out until than? I will let you all know what happened on Thursday (I am hoping for heart beat or some good news-so I can finally breathe and sleep and…) I would like to thank you all for you support during this difficult time. Reading your stories has been a real life saver for me, Thanks!!!

I TOOK A PREGNANCY TEST IN IT CAME BACK NEGATIVE BUT MY PERIOD IS A WEEK LATE.DO YOU THINK I SHOULD TAKE ANOTHER TEST BECAUSE MY PERIOD NEVER RUNS LATE.

wendy - February 15

Dear Hadas, Reading your story makes me feel very sad. I do not believe that anyone should be treated that way by their Dr. You should go get a second opinion and find a nicer Dr. Alot of Drs these days have their nurses give help and news because they are busy with other patients BUT if you are not comfortable with that then let him or her know that you need more attention and if they don't give it find someone who will. You need the support of your doctor at this time to help you through everything. It is a confusing and upsetting time and if they can't understand then leave. With the pills that you need to insert some times they will have some come out but maybe you should ask about the supposotries they are in liquid form all ready. I had to take them and it was great. Don't be angry because it is out of your control and it isn't healthy you or the pregnancy to be angry. Keep the Faith. Good Luck

Does anyone know what your normal progesterone level should be before you get pregnant? I've been trying to get pregnant for a year and I just had my prog level measured at 9.4. My doctor said that is "ok" but not great. What does that mean?

Natasha - February 15

Michelle: The doctor says that your progesterone should be at least 10 when trying to get pregnant. But, your levels should not be preventing pregnancy because I am 6 weeks and before I got pregnant my prog. level after ovulation was 7.2. Keep the faith and God Bless!
