Michelle: The doctor says that your progesterone should be at least 10 when trying to get pregnant. But, your levels should not be preventing pregnancy because I am 6 weeks and before I got pregnant my prog. level after ovulation was 7.2. Keep the faith and God Bless!

Zee-Thank you so much for the info. I started the v____al progesterone suppositories on Friday and my first ultrasound yesterday. Fortunately, I was able to "see" a very strong, positive, fluttering heartbeat. (A great V-day's present!!) My doctor's office has since called and increased the progesterone suppositories from 2x a day to 3x. I have another round of blood work scheduled for tomorrow. I'm hoping my levels have increased. I hope everything works out for everyone!!

Hi Everyone! Just wanted to check in and report that the progesterone suppositories seem to be working (or my body finally decided to cooperate!)..My progesterone went up to where it should be and HCG is still doubling!! I have my first u/s Thursday too! I am excited, but also anxious to find out if everything is going as planned! Roxi- sorry to hear about your MD situation..my MD told me to take the supositories at night when lying down to prevent loss of substance..It seems to be helping! Thanks to all for sharing your stories and Good Luck!!!

Hello ladies-Roxi, in answer to your question, D&C stands for Dialation and Curretage. They have to dialte the cervix and then currate or sc___pe the remaining misscarriage out. For all of you ladies who are taking the v____al suppositories, why don't you ask the doctor if you can take the oral progesterone. I know that the v____al ones are supposed to be absorbed quicker but really, once you get started on your dose orally, it doesn't matter how fast it is absorbed because the level eventually is maintained in your system. Also you don't have to worry about half of the medicine running out which could put you in danger of decreasing your progesterone level. I am taking 200 mg of progesterone, orally, each day and my spotting has stopped and my levels are at 28!! They are working wonderfully. Anyways, you are all still in my prayers. Take Care!

Hello all!! I'm having really BAD problems when it comes to progesterone. My dr put me on clomid 50 mg a day. When I did my blood test, it was 4.35. So i then went up to 100 mg clomid a day. Next blood test, which was friday, my progesterone level was way lower, .39. What can I do to try and change it? Thanks for you help!

I want to share my experience and advice to other people with low progesterone. At 6.5 weeks I had spotting. I went in and had an ultrasound with good fetal heart tones (136 bpm) but very low progesterone 5.1. I started Prometrium suppositories (200 mg 2x a day). This helped with the spotting and within a week my levels when to 11.1. When I returned to the doctor a week later, fetal heart tones were still good but the baby was small for date (CRLs were off). I knew something wasn't right. I ended up miscarrying at 9.5 weeks. My advice to those contemplating on whether to take Progestorone supplements is to take them. They are not going to work miracles and save a fetus from miscarriage. However, if the baby is healthy and normal and your body lacks prog., they may help. It is worth trying (and some piece of mind). My second piece of advice is if you don't like what your doctor is saying or how you are being treated, find a new doctor. During this time you need a doctor that can answer your questions and give you some comfort during this process. Finally, find an office that has a formal ultrasound procedure. That means a radiologist looks at the ultrasound and will alert the doctor if the sac is too small or the crown-to-rump lenths don't match with the dates or previous ultrsounds. Good luck and don't lose hope!

I just would like to share my story with everyone who is going through the same thing I am. I previously had a m/c in November. The doctor told me at 8 weeks that the baby died around 5 weeks. There was nothing mentioned to me about progesterone and I figured that it was "meant to be". Well I am now pregnant again. I started spotting around 5 1/2 weeks. I went in for an u/s and blood work. The technician said that we were not able to see anything since I was still so early but she did show me the yolk sac. She measured me to be one day short of where I was at the time but she a__sured me that everything is where it needs to be and everything will be okay. At 6 weeks I received a call from my doctor and they informed me I need to go on progesterone suppositories (100 mg), they did not explain to me why and didnt give me my progesterone level. After reading everyone's stories on this site, I called back and asked for my progesterone level, she informed me it was 11.7. So, I am now taking the suppositories and everything seems to be fine. I am now 6w 5d and I go to the doctors in two weeks for another u/s. Please keep us in your prayers, as I will do the same for all of you. Thank you for listening.

I alos have a low progesterone count. It was 15.6 at 4w6d and hCG was normal at 1877, a week later the hCg had raised to 12,000, and I did not get the progesterone levels back but I have been on 50mg 2 suppositories a day and the cramping is gone.I went on Monday for an ultrasound and baby measured right on target to the day. I was 7 weeks and 3 days, exactly what I should have been according to LMP.
The heart rate was nice and strong at 146 and everything looked good.
I have an appt to go see my OB on 2/23 for the round of blood tests and cervical tests.
I want to read a story in which hCG levels were normal and progesterone was low but they had a perfect baby.
I lost my son at 23 weeks due to placental abruption(possibly poor implant because he had suffered severe lack of oxygen, it was apparent when we saw him that he would have been severely retarded, but all tests came back normal, no chromosomal disorders, no infections. I now think that I had low progesterone and it caused a poor implant.
I also noticed ever since I started taking progesterone, my cramping is gone. I had terrible cramping with the last pregnancy and mild at the begining of this one. Since I started the supplements I have developed sore bbs, morning sickness and so tired. I never thought it would feels so good to feel all of these symptoms, but I just can't tell you how reasurring it is.
Ihope the best for all of us!
~Renee

I am 7 weeks and 5 days today - I have an appointment this morning for my second ultrasound and hope all is still well. I have endured 3 miscarriages over the past two and a half years. This pregnancy is the first in which low progesterone levels were mentioned (it is now believed this has been my problem in the past). At 6 weeks I had an ultrasound - because I was worried - I was having a good bit of cramping. A heart beat was visible but not audible yet. (Yeah!) Today I hope to hear the heart beat and see more growth. My last baby was born with gastroschesis - so I will be up for an amnio in a month or two. My prayers are with you all!

Okay, Guys. I am 4 weeks pregnant and received my progesterone test results today. I was told that my level was 45.4. I asked what the norm was for 4 weeks and was informed that normally it's about 18. I was then informed that I may be having twins. Hope the progesterone level info helps. May god bless all of you and yours!

Martha- I discovered my progesterone levels were at 7.5 at 7 weeks. I was told by my doctor that it should be at least 15. I have since been on v____al progesterone suppositories 2x a day. My levels have risen to 22.8 a week later. I can most certainly attribute it to the suppositories. Perhaps you should discuss with your doctor what level he/she thinks you should be at and whether you should be taking progesterone supplements. Hope this helps. Take care!

I am about 4 1/2 wks, my prog level is 7.7, my Dr says not to worry at this time. I have to go for more blood tomorrow but will not find out results until Monday As a precaution, she gave me a prescription and told me to start taking it after the test tom. and continue to she tells me that my levels have increased. She said my levels should be at altleast 11. I am a little nervouse bec. we have been trying for over a year and I am almost 34. Two years ago I had a large fibroid tumor removed just like a C-section. I too read the artilcle about timing of the blood tests and whether you have been fasting or not. I took the test immediately following lunch. Tomorrow I will take it in the AM and let you know if it made any difference.

I went to the dr at 6 weeks and had some bleeding. Progesterone level came back 10.4 and hcg was 214. Both were extremely low for how far along I was. The Dr. put me on prometrium (200 mg twice a day) and I went back a week later and progesterone was 78. I am now almost 24 weeks and we are expecting a baby boy in June. I just wanted to let you know that my Dr. said that if the progesterone level is the only problem then suppliments will usually work. Keep the faith.

I am almost 8 weeks and found out that my progesterone level is only 14.5. My doctor wants to put me on Prometrium for the next three weeks. I hear that manufactured progesterone can cause birth defects. Has anyone else heard this?
