Hi everyone. It it has been a while since I posted anything - wanted to give an update. Went to the dr. today for a checkup. I am 8wks. Baby's heart rate at 6wks was 112 - today it was 175. My progesterone level was 16.2 is now up to 19.7. The dr. (specialist) thinks things are going so well according to what he saw on the U/S and the increase in my numbers over the two weeks, he is going to send me back to my regular OB. I am to see her in three weeks. Although I am still nervous and scared, this news kicked me to cloud nine for the day! I just had to share. :)

Cindy-YEAH!! Sounds like things are going great and I am sure happy for you and your hubby. You both deserve good news after all the things you have been through. I am now 16 weeks and although I am a nervous wreck as well, everything seems to be going well for me too-just found out I am having a girl!!! I have two boys and both of their pregnancies were very stressfull for me(lots of fluctiating progesterone levels, cramping, spotting etc.) so although I have done this three times(with two misscarriages in between) I feel like this is my first pregnancy and every little twinge scares the heck outta me. I don't know if you read my post a while back about renting a fetal doppler but I tell you what-it was the best thing I could do for myself. In the back of any baby magazine you can find info on how to rent one-I only pay $25 a month and being able to hear the heart beat whenever I want-especially if I am having cramps or am particularly worried-it is so calming and rea__suring. Good luck to you and keep us posted!

Add-in response to your having a D&C first of all let me tell you how sorry I am. I have been through 2 misscarriages and they are horrible. In my opinion, you should let your body take care of things naturally. I had a natural misscarriage and the second time I had a D&C due to hemorraging problems(not by choice but by emergency necessity) Anyways, the D&C was horrible, painful and much harder to deal with mentally than when my body was able to take care of things naturally. If you are not having serious health problems because of the miscarriage, then I totally recommend a natural course. From the time I found out the baby had died to the point where I actually started bleeding was about 1 1/2 weeks. The bleeding was like a strong menstrual event, somewhat uncomfortable at times but after stopping bleeding(about 10 days)my mind was already accepting the fact that I had misscarried and I could concentrate on getting better and planning my next try. With the D&C one day I was pregnant and the next I wasn't-so hard for me to accept mentally and the actual procedure was painful although most of the time, you are put under general anesthesia so you don't feel anything-mine was an emergency situation so I only had a local on my cervix. I was viciously sick after the surgery and I still have trouble coming to grips with going through that type of misscarriage. Although I am into my 16th weeks of my subsequent pregnancy, I still mourn the loss of my last baby. Good luck with all and do what is best for you and your body.

I experienced some bright red bleeding around 5 weeks and due to the very low progesterone lvl (4.3), my doctor and I a__sumed I had miscarried. Well, I went to see the Dr. last week and lo & behold, there's a baby in there! My progesterone has only doubled so I've started on Prometrium (100mg). I'm terribly worried that I will lose the baby and hope to see & hear some positive news at my next visit in three weeks.

What should your esterogen levels be when you first become pregnant

Here's what I have found: 1st trimester for a single pregnancy has a range of 9-47. By the 7th week, the doctor hoped I would be at 18 minimum.

Wow...until a couple days ago, I had no concept of the importance of progesterone during pregnancy. I have had two miscarriages, and just learned on Friday that we are again expecting. We just started trying this month. The doctor had suspected that I didn't ovulate as my progesterone was low. I was going to start Clomid as soon as my period arrived. When it didn't arrive after almost two weeks, I found out that I am pregnant. If my progesterone was low a week and a half after ovulation, does that mean it is still low? I called the doctor today, but won't get a call back until tomorrow. I am six weeks today and haven't observed any bleeding yet, but that didn't happen with my other two pregnancies until week 7 or 8.

Hi everyone, my last post was in february. Shortly thereafter I miscarries dspite taking progestreone suppositories 2x a day. I already have two beautiful children with no problem but have since miscarried in 8/04 and 2/05. My dr. advised me to start taking progesterone starting from ovulation. After being disappointed I vowed to wait a year and give my body a rest. But low and behold I'm pregnant again after less than six weeks after miscarrying. I know my odds aren't great and I didn't plan this. I recently lost my mom and during a moment of vulnerability with hubby we forgot teh protection. However, I've coem to some conclusions. I will take the progesterone but I am aware that if the pregnancy is truly doomed , it will miscarry. I refuse to let teh dr.'s cripple with bedrest, no s_x and all the other mumbo jumbo that will not sustain the pregnancy anyway. If the problem is truly hormonal then that stuff won't work. To the ladies concerned that prog. prolongs bad pregnancies I am proof that it does not. I miscarried after taking it for a month. Good luck to everyone and pray, pray, pray!!!

Just 7 1/2 weeks pregnant, many m/c in the past, followed by two healthy babies. We decided to go for #3 and HCG is going up, but Progesterone went from 17 to 19 dropping to 13, then 12 in a matter of 3 weeks. Never had a progesterone problem. 100mg of oral was prescribed today. I feel great, no spotting, slight cramps (which I think is normal just from the pregnancy). Does anyone know why progesterone falls? To those of you on weekly blood tests - when has your HCG levels leveled off. Mine use to double every 48 hrs, now it just doubled in 5 days. That concerns me, even though the dr. is not concerned cause he sees an increase. HCG doesn't double as fast after 6,500 (so he says) Just scared, can't sleep and love any support I can get.

I'm 4 weeks pregnant and I went to the Dr. last week. He did an ultrasound and found a sac and pole and movement. He drew blood and my progesterone level came back at 10.6 he started me on 200mg of progesterone suppositories at night and wants me to come back again this week to have another ultrasound and more blood work. I'm terrified. I tried to get prego for 2 years and finally got prego and now this low progesterone stuff is freaking me out. Are my chances pretty good of saving this baby?

Hi ladies! I hope everyone is doing well. It's been a while since I posted, but I just wanted to update with a positive progesterone story.
I am now a little over 21 weeks. We just found out we are having a little boy, and he is VERY active already! I'm finally starting to show. It is just so exciting!
Progesterone, I believe, is what saved this pregnancy. I had a m/c in October 2004 and got pregnant the following month. I spotted at 5 weeks and was put on 200mg prometrium suppositories when the dr found that my levels were at around 6.
At 6w4d I had a huge gush of red blood with extreme cramping. I thought for sure I was miscarrying. I went in the next day to find that I still had a healthy little baby with a beating heart!
I was supposed to be able to go off of the progesterone at 10 weeks, but each time I tried, I spotted. Finally at 13 weeks I was able to stop taking them. (What a relief)
I have had no problems since stopping the progesterone. From all perspectives I am now having a normal pregnancy.
I really do believe that progesterone helped me. So for those of you starting this, hang in there. It can work. Good luck.

Zee-I also got pregnant about 8 weeks after I misscarried and I am now 17 weeks pregnant, on progesterone and have had no spotting with this pregnancy. You have a great att_tude and I totally agree with you-if the pregnancy is meant to fail then the progesterone will not stop that. I am sorry about your mom-hopefully this little angel inside your tummy was sent by her! Good luck and take care.
