I am reading a lot of the messages below and the women are on the progesterone pills or v____al suppositories, but not reading much on the shots. Does anyone get the progesterone shots. I get them twice a week a shot in each cheek every time. I went from a 11.1 to a 13 in 3 weeks. Don't know if good or bad, but at least I am increasing and not decreasing. I am not reading much on is there evidence of delivering a healthy baby with a low progesterone level. This is my second pregnancy and with my first they did not even test my progesterone so this is new to me and it worries me. I am now 9 weeks along. Thanks for your help and it is great to read about others situations even though not a great situation to be in.

Angie M-YEAH!!! I actually got teary-eyed reading your post! A little girl, I am so happy for you and I will a__sume from your enthusiasm that all is well with her. Thank you so much for your comments on my testimonies-it is a two-way street though. Reading about your worries and everyone else's really does help me get through the days and it is also so wonderful to know that someone else knows exactly why you are so scared. There hasn't been a night that I haven't mentioned you and all the other women on this board, in my prayers-please keep in touch throughout your pregnancy. I think you are only two weeks ahead of me and I think it would be great to one day read how you delivered a healthy baby girl after all the problems we have had to endure. Take care Angie, and again, god bless everyone else!

Hi new here. I have to start suppositories tomorrow. I am nervous after reading that your tummy b__ws out. Is this true for everyone. I had a m/c on 2-22. I am just 4 weeks. My level was 13. I dont know what my hcg was I did not ask. We think this is why I miscarried last time. SO many of you say you were dizzy from this stuff. I guess they are 50 mg, I jsut called. Will I feel funny from these? I am nervous..... Gina

Renee - April 21

Gina, I was on 50mg 2xd and it just made me tired for the first couple weekd, my progesterone level was 15.6 and never went above 18 even with the suppositories being increased to 3x a day. However, I am now 17 weeks, feeling baby move more and more everyday and feeling wonderful.I have been off for 5 weeks and progesterone level is now a 42 so that is a huge change, the placenta has taken over production. Im finally getting excited, though I have not pa__sed the milestone of my last loss at 23 weeks. So I am still walking that fine line! I think we all will walk that line the entire pregnancy, just the maternal insticnt wanting to protect I guess. I wish you the best of luck, keep us updated! Take care, Renee

hello my daughter had a miscarriage at 10 weeks last aug. and she is preg. again and she started spotting at 6 weeks and the dr put her on 100mg. promentrium a day andshe has been taking for last 3 weeks and stopped spotting instantly like next day ,ok what i want to ask is she did an ovulation kit and it showed her ovulating march 1rst and that would put her at nine weeks and 5 days but had two us and baby measures 10 weeks today but the first day of period was feb. 4 and that makes her 11 weeks and one day and the dr told her to stop promentrium next week and i am scared she will not be 12 weeks yet even if her men. shows she is what do you think

Becky - April 23

Cindy-I also took an ovulation prediction test and when I went in for my first ultrasound, the doctor said I was off by about 1 1/2 weeks. I am now almost 20 weeks and everything is going good and although I don't understand how I was wrong I guess that it just happens that way sometimes. Anyways, if when your daughter stops the prometrium and starts to spot again, call the doctor right away and he will put her back on it. I had to stay on it until 16 weeks gestation so just keep the medicine handy and if she starts to spot again, she will have time to start the medicine again without completely misscarrying. Hope this helps.

thank you very much she has one more refill but she wants to do what the dr. says but i will get it filled for her and tell her if she even starts cramping to start back on promentrium right away but so far so good why didn't the dr. prescribe this the first time of course she changed dr. because the first one kept telling her cramps and bleeding is normal and some is but not without testing to make sure (it was if he exspected her to micarriage and didn't care) but she has got a great dr. this time

My wife and I did Artificial Insemination last Monday (April 18th) due to my low sperm count. She went in today to get a blood test to see what her progesterone level was. Her doctor called her a few minutes ago and said her level was at 14.5 and that she was going to put her on the suppositories. Should she be worried? Is that a low # after 1 week? Just wondering

Becky - April 26

Matt-First of all I wish you and your wife the best of luck with your Artificial Insemmination procedure. I will be praying for both of you. In answer to your question, check out the post from "annonymous" on the 25th of February on this board. He obtained some levels of a woman's progesterone and the parameters and posted it on the board. From what he wrote, in the first trimester, a woman's progesterone should be from 9-47 in the first trimester so it sounds like your wife is at least inside of the parameters. I know that in your wife's case, they will want to keep it as high as possible to help insure the best implantation possible for the embryo. Hope this helps and great luck!

hi there, I am new to this thread/forum...I am wondering if those who are more experienced in this area could give me some insight? I had a m/c on 3/27 and D&C on 3/28 and am now 4 weeks past, awaiting my af or BFP SOON so that I know where I am at and can move forward. my doc has told me that in order to test if I have low levels of progesterone is to wait until my 2nd af cycle after m/c and detect when I am ovulating and one week from that day to come back in and get tested, if low they will put me on progesterone. i am trying to be as proactive as I can to prevent another m/c from happening but want to knwo if I were to find out I was pg can they test my levels and put me on pills/meds at that point? HELP!

HELP - April 27

has anyone ever stopped prometrium at 10 weeks of pregnancy and had a full term preg.without anymore trouble

Becky - April 27

Staci-in answer to your question-yes, if you become pregnant and your levels are low, they can start you on progesterone and even if you have been pregnant for 4-5 weeks already before they find out, the progesterone will still help. Your first indication that the levels may be low would be spotting and alot of women, myself included, started spotting and then started progesterone and went on to carry their baby's full term. At your first pre-natal visit, when they draw blood, this is one of this things they automatically test for anyways, All your hormone levels, pregnancy levels, blood iron count, blood sugar-everything, is checked with that first blood draw so don't worry about them not catching the low levels on time. One thing you could do to ease your mind is once you are tested for progesterone levels which they usually do 2 cylcles after a mc, is request that you be put on progesterone supplements before you actually conceive. This is what my doctor did for me-I started the progesterone when I thought I was ovulating, if I started my period I knew I wasn't pregnant and would stop taking the supplement until my next ovulation. If I didn't start my period, I was probablly pregnanct and I was already on the supplement so I didn't have to worry about my levels starting out low. Hope this helps and I am really sorry about your mc-I have had two and I know how sad you are feeling. Hang in there!

I just found out yesterday that I have miscarried at almost ten weeks and I was on the progesterone shots twice a week. My doctor has schedule a DNC for next Thursday, but I am scared that it is going to happen naturally before that. Can anyone tell me the usual procedures after you know your baby is not alive inside you? How long before the natural process starts to happen and is it painful? This is my first m/c and I have a healthy 2 year old. Thanks

I am abuot 7 weeks pregnant. This is my 1st. I have had infertility for 3 1/2 years and we ended getting pregnant on our own. We are so excited. My progestrone is at 11.8 and I am on progesterone 3 times a day now. I am spotting more and it scares me. I go back on the 5th of May for another ultra sound. I just hope I am not losing the baby. I have no cramping. I am glade I am that I found this web page because reading everyone stories makes me feel safer. Should I be worried?
