According to all the stuff our Dr. Has told us...Your progesterone...for lack of a better explanation...is like super glue. It helps Hold the baby where it needs to be while it grows. Some people need more progesterone than others. My wife and I lost our first baby in May...and are now 10 weeks Pregnant. We got our results back today, and he progesterone was 12.8. She had been taking a supplement, but he took her off on monday and tested her on wednesday. so the 12.8 was the result of her own Progesterone level. We are very nervous...I am a Youth & Children's Minister and she is a Nurse. We want a child so Bad...but this Progesterone level stuff scares me. Can anyone give me an encouraging story about a low progesterone level...and stuill having a healthy Baby????????

Ray, I am the one who wrote above as well. In regards to your question, I had a friend who had a progesterone level of 4 at 5-6 weeks. Her HCG level was very low too. Well, she had a healthy baby girl. From what I understand, the mother's body makes the progesterone needed for the first 3 months, and then the placenta takes over after 12-14 weeks. I'm not a doctor, I was just told something like that. If I were you, I would want her to take it until that point, just to be safe. I go to the doctor on Monday to see if all is good with me. So far it seems to be. My progesterone was 2.2 at 6 1/2 weeks. My HCG was good at 12,000. Best of luck to you. Go to the site below to see a chart of where the numbers should be:

Hi guys
I am 5 wks 4 days and my blood test came back saying my progesterone was a little low it was 23 and it should be 30, however after reading all your stories I have optimism that this reading is not too bad. My baby already has a heartbeat - I had my ultrasound yesterday.
Hope everyone goes along just fine with their pregnancies.

Thanks Kathy for your time. We have our 4th sonagram tomorrow afternoon, our Dr is Great...we are just so nervous because we lost our first one. We are believing the God has it all under control. My wife has had no spotting, no discharge, her b___sts are still sore, she still sleeps all the time, and still has WIERD cravings. Other than the low level of Progesterone...everything looks great. She is the most wonderful Wife...please keep us in your prayers. THX.

Friday I went to the Dr for my first Ultrasound. I was 5wks 3 days and we say a yolk sac but no heart beat yet. My HCG levels have varied. Starting at 1275, then went down to 761 then went back up to over 4000. After a very disapointing day on Wed, my Dr dr told me on Fri that things still look ok. When I asked about the low HCG level she said that all women have different levels of all hormones. But, she also had said that I may have been preg with twins and lost one. I have some "free fluid" in my abdomen that they saw on the Ultrasound so she thinks that may be the case. I get another blood draw tomorrow and another ultrasound on Thurs. Thsi is so nerve racking. I really wish all of you the best and you are in my thoughts.

I wanted to tell my story so that you would all know that there is hope. read my story above first.
Since that post I started on a progesterone supplement and my level has gone from 4.3 to 26. Also my HCG level has gone from 136 to 22,000 in 12 days. I had an ultra sound yesterday at 6 weeks exactly and they found a heartbeat and said everything is prgressing just perfectly. So, for all of you on those supplements, hang in there!

I lost my baby. It might have died when my spotting started. Also, my progesterone was low maybe because of that too, but we tried supplements just in case, since it was too early to see the heartbeat. This is my 2nd miscarriage. I am sad, but know that God has a plan for us. I'm having some tests done on me to see if we are missing something in a couple of weeks. D&C scheduled for tomorrow.
I wish the best for all of you. And, we, too, will have another child in the future hopefully. I do have a 2 1/2 year old boy, he's a doll.

Kathy, My thoughts and prayers are with you. I know how difficult this is and I wish I had words that could make it better. Give your little boy a big hug - children seem to know how to make you feel better at your worst of time.

Kathy, I am so sorry for your loss. I will be praying for you and your husband during this difficult time. I understand what you are going through since I also had two miscarriages before God blessed us with our little miracle.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you have written here. I am blessed to have found this information. I am about 5 weeks and my progesterone level was 10 and they are putting me on a supplement which I am worried about. I had a miscarriage in January and don't think I can go through that again along with my husband. I would love to hear any positive news from any of you ,, it is rea__suring to know this is more common than I thought. Diana

Thanks everyone for your comments. The surgery went very well, despite what it was. I am recovering quicker this time. My doctor is running some blood work when I got back for a checkup in 2 weeks. We are also going to check my hormone levels as soon as I get pregnant next time. I'm going to focus on my son now and being healthy for antoher pregnancy. We will try again early next year most likely. I want time to heal, since I've been through this 2 times since Feb. God bless all of you!

This seems to be a more widespread problem than I first thought. I am currently 5 weeks 2 days pregnant. Have been spotting since day 1. (Very light pink, and some brown.) I had 3 misscarriages in 2003, each one before 6 weeks. Doc decided I have APLS. Was taking one baby aspirin every day, but Doc advised me to stop once I started spotting. Am currently taking 100mg of progesterone 2x a day. It seems to be helping, but am wondering if I should be taking more. I seem to start spotting right before I take my pill, like it is wearing off or something. Anyway, I (like many of you) have put this in God's hands, and am praying for the best, but ready to accept the worst. My friend Rachael spotted throughout her first three months, and had a normal healthy baby girl. Miracles do happen.
