Shawn, No I did not have any signs of miscarriage before that. I had a little cramping one day about 4 1/2 weeks, but never had any bleeding. Good luck to you at your next appointment! When is your next u/s?

Shawn-When I concieved this time, I used an ovulation prediction kit. When I went in for the first U/S I was still 2 weeks off. Now I am 32 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby girl so just hang in there. I couldn't understand how I could be off after using a kit but like your doctor says, it does happen. Keep your chin up and I will be thinking about you.

After trying to reach my dr (or nurse) a whole day today..Left tons of messages and not getting a call back I finally called the emergency number and had the dr call me back. I took a blood test on Thursday and wanted to hear the results. I was exactly 6 weeks on thursday when they took the test and he said my progesterone level level is 6.5 and HCG level is 674. He did not mention anything about misscarriage or problems. He just said I should take progesterone and take another blood test tomorrow. I am extremely nervous? I had a miscarriage exactly three years ago and have been trying to concieve since then.
What are my odds?? I know its different by everyone but the way the dr spoke he didnt seem very concerned. He didnt mention anything about coming in to the office or taking an ultrasound.

call me really silly, but can someone please tell me what is HCG level? Is this the blood quant?
I got my progestrone levlel tested and I am told it is at normal.
I had two miscarriages due to low in progestrone level.

Aimee-HCG stands for Human Gonaditropin Hormone. It is the hormone that is released by the growing embryo when you are pregnant and you will only find this hormone in your body when you are pregnant. That is what gives you a positive reading for a pregnancy test. This hormone should steadily increase along with the growing embryo. If it does increase you can be pretty sure that the baby is also growing. If it does not increase(at least double almost every other day) then that means the embryo isn't growing and you probablly would misscarry. When they refer to the HCG level in your blood they are measuring how much of the hormone is found, thus being able to somewhat (although not with complete accuracy) calculate how far along in the pregnancy you are. Hope this helps and I wish you the best of luck!

This site is great. I am only 3 wks and 4 days and my doctor started me on Prometrium 200 today. I miscarried 3 months ago and he is being careful this time. He said my level was 8 but they like it to be 11. I am so nervous and scared. We have a healthy son who is 3 years old. THat is the hard thing. We had NO problem with him and waited to have another and now...... I wish everyone the best of luck!

Kellie-Good Luck! I'm in the same boat you are. I have a little boy that just turned 4 this weekend and I had no problems with that pregnancy until the very end. I had pre-eclampsia but that didn't come on until I was about 7 1/2 months. I didn't even know ANYTHING about progesterone levels...because obviously mine were fine. And then we started trying again a few months ago and I got pregnant! I was so excited and figured everything would be fine just like last time. But then I found out I had low progesterone levels, and I ended up miscarrying at 8 weeks. It was pretty devastating but I'm trying to look at the positive and can't wait to start trying again! Good luck with your pregnancy...I'm sure everything will turn out fine since you started taking all of these precautons so early on.

Amber, Thanks for your response. I wish you the best of luck too. I am glad ot know someone else knows how it feels. Our son was the text book pregnancy until 35 weeks when he tried to come early then he delivered on his due date. I NEVER dreamed of having problems. I am the same as you... We waited and were so excited. I never dreamed of miscarriage. I am really glad to have a doctor who is one step ahead. I NEVER knew about progesterone either and my husband is a pharmacist! I just a__sumed we would get pregnant, be sick, and have a baby! I am so glad for a site like this. It makes you feel so not alone. No one understands the loss until it happens. Keep me posted on your outcomes. I will pray for you!

I had problems with progesterone with my third son, although I did not have any with my first two children. At 6 weeks, he told me that my progesterone levels were too low to sustain a pregnancy, and if they didn't increase, I would lose him. He prescribed some progesterone pills that I had to take daily for the entire first trimester. Now I have a healthy (although he does have astham) 6 year old. Your doctor knows what is best for you, so I'm surprised that you didn't mention him prescribing you anything for your condition. If I were you, I would get a second opinion. Good luck, and I'll be praying that you have a healthy pregnancy and baby.

Hi
Ah, it's frustrating. I know. I am in a similar boat, now 7 1/2 weeks but progesterone is 15.2 and they feel it should be higher. My dr is increasing my progestrone pills to 3x a day! I had an US though and everything was fine and we saw and heard the heartbeat. We are praying this works? I read that 15 is ideal but anything can happen...

Thank God I found you all! I am 36 yo with a 4 yo son. I became pregnant with him on our very first try. We have been trying for about 4 months now, and I think I may have been pregnant this month. Then, of course, the Bloody Curse came. Looking at my monthly charts, I noticed I am having a luteal phase of 10 or 11 days. It made me wonder if this could be why I am having probs conceiving. I know, I know, not enough time to really know. But I really do think I was pregnant this time. And I can't stand the thought of trying every month if I am only going to lose it because of possible low progesterone levels. Dr. said she would put me on clomid, but will that be enough? Does clomid elongate your luteal phase? I am to see her on Tues. I asked her nurse if the dr. might prescribe me progesterone supplements to help my luteal phase. She said probably not because that would be infertility treatment and the insurance won't allow them to refer me for "infertility" treatments until 1)we have been trying to get pregnant for a year, and 2) until my hubby has been checked. I know I am not OLD, but I am getting older every single day. I do have hypothyroidism- I think this has added to my hormone probs. I am so upset that no one seems to listen to me. If my dr. will not prescribe the progesterone, I do not know what I will do. Should I just take the clomid and pray?

Allison, the Clomid will help you ovulate and maybe the prog. will produce naturally. As soon as you miss your period though, insist on the blood work for prog. levels. My insurance doesn't cover infertility either, but I had my doctor write a letter of medical necessity that the Progestrone supplements weren't for infertilty but to maintain pregnancy.

I am 6 weeks today and found out my level also is low but they didn't tell me what number. I have a 20 mo. old who is very healthy but this pregnancy scares me b/c everything was perfect with my first. I'm so scared I will have a miscarriage. Someone tell me everything will be ok.
