LOL - thought so, Elaine ;)
I know that whomever I reach (at the office) will just say "you need to follow up with your own dr. on Monday unless you're miscarrying in which case go to the hospital, blah blah blah". (I've dealt with them on similar - but less emotional issues before - the women at my dr.'s office are EXTREMELY unhelpful. I hate to use the term b*tchy, but they really are. Always sullen and snappy. can't stand it there...but have been with my dr. with past 2 pg's and I love her. and it's VERY hard to get a dr. around here. HUGE shortage. Sigh..........
How's San Diego, Becky?

Elaine - YAY for good news! *happy snoopy dance* We were due here for some :). Lesley - I know how it feels when you have doctor's offices that are unresponsive. It's hard when it's at an office where you actually like that doctor. That's how it is in my case. Luckily, the nurse for my regular doctor is very good about calling me back. If you don't get answers, I'll be here supporting you this weekend. Or maybe we can get that yahoogroup started soon and we'll all meet there. Oh, and since when is trying to get a third being greedy? I think not! Elaine - same goes for you for the two weeks...we'll be here for support :). I know that waiting is bad. Becky - have a safe trip back. I'm considering getting the procedure scheduled. I had to ask my doctor about any contraindications for the antibiotics that I'm probably going to get along with my lovely pre-existing condition. C'est la vie. ~Rain

You know what makes me laugh about the drs office - if they have a problem with your insurance or if your behind on a payment they are extremely effecient in getting a hold of you. No nonsense, no getting hung up on, no c___p whatsoever. I am going to write my dr a letter to let him know how horrible the office staff and nurse were today. I could see if this was volunteer work but they get paid plenty and need to act more responsively. I am just really ticked off at them still.

I am 36 and found out last week that I am pregnant. I am single, and although I was shocked at first, I'm realizing I really do want to have this baby. But I went in today for the u/s and the heart beat was only 86. the doctor said 'that means it may not be a good pregnancy' I was really bummed which made me realize that I wanted it (up til now i've been very unsure). I conceived May 11th (or 2-3 days after that), so that would make me 4 weeks, but they said I was 5 weeks 6 days because they date it from the first day of the last period. That doesn't seem to make sense.. Is that how all of you are dating your pregnancies? I'm so confused!

Hey Angie: Yes the doctors all date your preg. from your period start rather than your conception date. This was your first U/S so that means you have a wonderful chance of seeing the heartrate increase. Five weeks is still early. Did your doctor schedule another one soon? Hopefully you'll have another one within a week or two and you'll be able to relax and enjoy your pregnancy and becoming a brand new mother.
I to am single too (no children ...yet) so I really can relate to your desire to have this wonderful little baby*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Happy Healthy Baby Fairy Dust to you!!!!! Love & Hugs too
~*~*~*Post again and let us know how you are. This is a good place to share whatever you are feeling~*~*~*~*~*

Hi Angela - as far as I know the other girls are correct - they date your pregnancy from the first day of your last period. Are you scheduled for another ultrasound? I hope everything turns out well for you and I am sure that you will find the ladies in this group to be very supportive!

one thing no one seems to be talking about is whether or not the low heartbeat initially can signal future birth defects, even if the heartbeat does increase as the pregnancy progresses. Do the heartbeats that improve go on to be healthy babies???

Angela - I dont know for sure but I havent read anything on the net that would indicate that the two would be related - it did cross my mind though too.

Hi Guys--I just posted a long note to each of you--and my little goober started slamming on my keyboard and lost it. :( No time to repost all, but wanted to let you guys know I've set up a yahoo group for us. It is Fastfriends2005@yahoogroups.com. I've never done one before, so we'll have to figure it out together. I think I've set it up so you can all join immediately now--then once everyone here is on, we'll close it to outsiders. You'll need to get a Yahoo i.d. if you don't already have one. Let me know if it works!

Ok guys. . . another success story. . . from a pregnancy board I went to. This woman had to wait 2 weeks+ to go for her 2nd u/s. . . ."I had another ultrasound today and things are looking good. The baby is measuring right on track at 8 weeks and 4 days (I'm 8 weeks and 5 days). The heartrate is up to 181, from the awful 60-70 it was a couple of weeks ago. We also saw a lot of movement during the ultrasound. I go back in two more weeks for another ultrasound, just to make sure things are still going well. I'm still nervous, but excited. I may not be on a lot over the next couple of weeks because it's the end of the school year and I'm so busy! But, I'll be back on this board. Thank you all for your prayers. I know they helped! "
------ELAINE--I'm hoping you'll be reporting the same!! :)

ELAINE---sure you can join, but. . . .part of me doesn't want you officially joining our sorry group!! But definately do--and we'll kick you off in a few weeks! :) BTW. . in the last post of mine that my dd deleted I was asking you if there was ANY way you could talk them into letting you have an u/s earlier???? I mean. . . what's the point in waiting?? It's been over a week since the first, right?? By now they can tell if the goober is growing and if there is any change in HR. . . so you don't have to go through another 2 weeks of agonizing. KWIM?? What's their rationale? The good hormone levels are potentially good news, but only the u/s will tell. Can you beg? Even claim spotting/bleeding?? (I'm such a sneak!) Maybe you do better with waiting than I do, but I would just die waiting another 2 weeks!! Becky
