Hi, I posted my message on 8/14 about my brownish spotting, unfortunately, i had a miscarriage on 8/30 @ 10weeks+. The spotting was ona nd off at first, in that 2 weeks time, i had 2 US and both showed heartbeat but second US showed low amniotic fluid in baby. I was just bleeding like menstrual at first and started cramping on afternoon of 8/29, when i went to bed that night, i was still cramping but at 5am i had the mother of all cramps an i pa__sed the fetal tissues..went to ER and the dr confirmed MC. Anyway, to all you ladies out there that are still going thorugh the bleeding/spotting, i know this is a very confusing situation for all of us, but we just have to be strong and positive. Spotting/Bleeding is very common in early pregnancy but I lost my baby and I know it happened for a reason. Good Luck. Sending you all happy and healty pregnancy....

Go get an ultrasound to check things out.

hey belindabea, i was having this same problem of bleeding from six weeks and any time i would have s_x we would have to stop because i would start to bleed again. Sorry to say but i miscarried at eight and a half weeks.

I'm seven weeks and having pretty much the same thing. Dr. said that it was normal and not to worry unless it gets worse. I've had spotting pretty much since I should have had my period.

yes, i have been spotting for a day.i called the doctor and they said that it could be implantation bleeding, and that i needed to take pelvic rest and that i needed to be off my feet.If it were to get worse or i was to start cramping that i needed to go to the hospital.

Hey everyone, I about somewhere between 4 - 6 weeks and woke up today with slight brownish spotting, only when I wiped. I called the dr. who took me immediately, did a pelvic exam and said he saw no active bleeding. I came home and found the bleeding got pinker (almost red) and heavier, called dr. again and he sent me for a transv____al US. I just had that done 3 hours ago, which revealed a healthy gestational sac and thick endometrium, however, the bleeding has worsened. I am very impatient and have been obsessing over miscarrying since I found out I was pregnant last week. There seems to be nothing that I can do. Has anyone been through this? Did the bleeding get worse because of each exam? I wish I could relax, but I don't think it's possible. I wish the time would go quicker.

I'm pretty sure your exams didn't cause the bleeding, or make it worsen. Did your doc draw blood from you at your last exam? He/she should have, and ran a Quant_tative HCG on it. And, you should have blood drawn 2 days later for the same test. You levels should about double in a 2 day period if you have a viable pregnancy. If you are experiencing a miscarriage, there is really nothing that you can do. Usually a miscarriage will happen because there is something genetically wrong with the embryo, an underlying condition in the mother that may have gone undetected because it does not effect her every day health, or the environment in the uterus is not right. Just relax and take it easy. I know it is hard to not be anxious about all of this, but the best thing you can do is keep a level head, and stay calm.

Thank you for your response. Unforunately the inevitable happened yesterday. My HCG levels were 400 and expected to be much less tomorrow. It just wasn't meant to be this time. We have the all clear to try again in 2 months. I hope I can have a positive att_tude with the next one. Good Luck to everyone!

I'm 39 weeks pregnant. I went to my doctor appointment today and when the midwife checked me, I was bleeding afterward. When I got home I was still bleeding. When should the bleeding stop? Is it still safe to have s_x?

jursam - September 16

I have had spotting on and off from I was 5 weeks pregnant after s_x. I have gone to do 2 ultrasounds in 10 days and the baby looks fine with heartbeat. I have had brownish colour discharge, with a foulish scent. I did a swab test and everything came back negative. what is wrong?

Kathy - September 19

I'm now almost 13 weeks. I spotted/discharged from week 6 until almost week 11. My scan last week showed that baby has been growing steadily and all appears normal. My morning sickness is the worse I've ever had but I"d rather feel queasy knowing I've got heaps of HCG and can feel pregnant. I've had heaps of rest as I physically can't do too much without feeling awful (It's almost like my body won't let me). During my spotting phase, rest would reduce the spotting. I hope this info helps anyone who's going through the same. So do take it easy - you're body's working really hard and needs nurturing.

From what I have researched this brown spotting in the first few weeks is totally normal and it annoys me that some websites, doctors, and publications make you feel that if you spot for more than a day or two that it is abnormal or requires medical attention. Every woman is different and this kind of spotting varies and is normal in early pregnancy. Obviously spotting can be a sign of a problem, but not always. Just relax, smile, and trust that whatever your body needs to do is not an accident either way. Your pregnancy needs as little feelings of worry as possible! Do any of you chart your waking temperatures? That is a must! You can anticipate a miscarriage coming on if your temperature drops below your coverline. If any of you don't know what this is, look up "Taking Charge of Your Fertility."

Starla - September 20

Hello, I am currently 7 weeks pregnant and I have had the somewhat the same situation. I started to spot during the time when I was going to get my period. But it only happened when I was trying to have a bowel movement. It would then turn brown and go away until I went to the bathroom again. The doctor told me that I would most likely miscarry and they would monitor my hcg levels. However my levels kept doubling and so they did an US. I had an US at 6 weeks 2 days and they saw a subchorionic hemmorhage but my baby had a strong heartbeat. I was told it is just a wait and see game but that my baby has a good chance. I had never heard of this conditon before and so I too thought I had to be miscarrying. I also had very intense cramping at 5 weeks but I was told that is because blood is an irratant to the uterus and that is why it hurts. Good luck and I will be praying for you.

Kerri - September 21

I am currently approx. 13 weeks pregnant. At about 11 weeks I had an episode of bleeding. I went to the ER, they ran blood tests and did and extensive US, everything was fine, cervix was closed, baby heartbeat has been strong since we saw and heard it at 6weeks. They sent me home with a diagnosis of a Threatened Abortion. I followed up with my doctor that same day and she agreed that everything looked great. She put me on bedrest for the weekend and informed me to stay off my feet as much as possible, no lifting, or bending. Anyway..the bleeding stopped that same day, but I have had dark brown discharge/spotting since, its been about 3 weeks now, I had another appt. with my high risk doctor, and my regular OB/GYN last wednesday Sept. 14th. Both were very happy with what they saw...baby is moving around like crazy (though I cant feel it yet), heartbeat is still strong, baby measured 12wks5days, and everything looks great. I still cant help but be worried, every once in a while I have what I can only discribe as a brown stringy, somewhat thick clot/or mucous with the spotting. I have placed a call to my doctors office and am still waiting for the response, but I am so nervous. I should be hitting 13 weeks this friday, but the way the baby has been measuring, i figure I'm 13wks and change right now. If anyone has had the same thing and can offer any piece of mind it would be greatly appreciated. My fiance and I want this baby to be ok more than anything. Help!!

tara - September 22

my heart seems to be sinking. on tuesday afternoon i experienced very light pink discharge after urinating. my ob sent me to the emergency room. after 10.5 hours i left with no concrete answers- except my cervix is closed and the urine test shows im definitely preg. my ob insisted i go in yesterday. once again, no solid answer. he saw a fluid oval somewhere in my uterus. had more blood drawn, and will have to do it again on friday. then i have to wait till monday to find out if everything is progressing correctly. er wouldn't even let me see the ultrasound. ob said the sac measure 7mm. wouldn't even give me an exact amount of time as to how far along. i am beside myself. making myself sick. i am living almost an entire week with no definitive answers...should i call another gyno and run the situation past them. i had heard some spotting was normal.....i have no pain, no cramps. just nauseous from fear.........i feel so selfish saying im glad im not alone.
