I'm glad that I found these threads, because I am having similar problems, and I need some advice for others in the same situation. I am 7 weeks pregnant and yesterday morning started bleeding a little more signifantly for a very short time period. I even saw a couple very small clots on the tissue. I went to the ER immediately. I had stopped bleeding and was spotting very very lightly. HCG levels had gone from 19,000 on June 21 to 33,500 at the time of the ER visit. An ultrasound showed that the sac and yolk were normal gestational size, but the baby was very small, about 6 weeks in size instead of 7. She said it was still too small to see a heart beat, but she had me lie very still and she detect "fluttering" which (to me) was very encouraging. The ER doctor diagnosed me with "threatened miscarriage" and advised me to follow up with my doctor this week. In the meatime, since the visit yesterday, I haven't had a similiar bleeding episode, but I do notice a slight pinkish tint, or brownish tint, after urinating. I'm not having any unusal cramps. Has anyone had a similar situation? Is this an impending miscarriage, or can my baby survive? Am i supposed to be on bed-rest, or can I go out for 4th of July activities? Of course, I would take it easy, but should I be confined to the bed? Or is a miscarriage going to happen anyway? Please email me with more insight! serenamccan@yahoo.com

After reading these postings, I feel a little better. I am 5.4 weeks pregnant. I had an ectopic pregnancy a year ago. I had a sono done this past friday and they weren't able to see the yolk sac in my uterus. They did see some fluid and a cyst. My doctor admitted me because of having a history of ectopic pregnancy. She was also worried about my hcg levels. I have not experience any spotting but occasional cramping at the time. My doctor said that the cramping is okay to have just as long it is not pain. Well I ended up getting out of the hospital on saturday because my HCG levels were rising as expected. I think my level on saturday was 11,000 and on that friday it was 9,000. They also did another sono on that saturday morning before i left the hospital. A yolk sac was seen in my uterus but the radiologist did see something in my tube also. The radiology report said along with the yolk sac in my uterus I also had a ectopic preg. It was like twin but one landed in my tube. My doctor more than positive said that isn't the case because i have been asymptomatic and it is very rare for that to happen. Im suppose to go back tomorrow morning for another sono. I am so scared because this morning I started spotting a brown discharge and still spotting as of right now. I am so confused and scared. I feel like I just gave up hope.

Yes, I had it a few weeks ago. I am nine weeks now. Spotting and cramping. The spotting was brown, and I went to the doc. They said that it was because of low progesterone levels. They prescribed Prometrium. The spotting has stopped now, and I am fine. It was scary at first, because I really felt that it was the beginning of a miscarriage. Get to the doctor and have your blood drawn so they can check your levels.

Thanks Rae for the info- I am very thankful to everyone for sharing their experiences on this site- it's good to know that other people are experiencing the same things

I'm so frustrated with my GP! I've been spotting throughout my pregnancy so far, and when I asked if I might not be producing enough progesterone, he said they don't test for that until a woman has had repeated miscarriages. Why can't they test the first time, so a woman doesn't have to go through repeated miscarriages?

Hi all, I'm so glad that I found this thread. It has helped ease my mind a bit. I actually do not know for sure if I am pregnant or not. I have always kept up with my period, but I've been under so much stress lately that I cannot remember if I had my period for June. I am also late on this months period (July) 4 days late. Earlier today, I had intercourse. About 30 minutes after intercourse, I started to feel this weird hot flash come over me,followed by a weird ga__sy feeling. (It wasn't painful atall just felt weird.) So, I went to the bathroom and noticed a little spotting. It was bright red. I had no cramps and the spotting only lasted about 15 minutes. I'm scared it may be a miscarriage, although I am not sure if I am pregnant. I know that there is something weird going on though because I have always had normal 28 day cycles, and about 2 days before I start my period I feel crampy and bloaty. I feel nothing. I have no sighns of pregnancy other than that. Although, I sleep, and sleep, and sleep. Seeing as I dont remember if I had my period in June I am not sure how far along I would be. Either 8 weeks, or 4 weeks lol. I hope the doctor will be able to tell how far along I am. But, I guess since I have no pains the spotting is not too serious. Im scared though this is a suprise pregnancy and I have no insurance. I guess just go to the emergency room? Thanks everyone, and I wish you all the best. :)

I'm 18 weeks 4 days pregnant now. 1 Week ago I had some brownish pink spotting. I called me OB. He ordered me to have an US done. The us was fine. 5 days later, I had it again. I went to the ER and had blood work and a pelvic exam done. Everything was fine. I've noticed that if I lift my daughter for too long or lift anything heavy (like the trash) or strain when in the bathroom, I get the spotting. I feel fetal movement and the heartbeat has been 153 the whole time. This is my second pregnancy. Never had this with my first. Anyone else been this far along and started and what did you find out? (oh, and to complicate things, my doc is out of town right now!)

I am currently 8.5 weeks pregnant and have been spotting for over 3 weeks now. This did not happen with the 1st pregnancy at all, so it is freaking me out a bit. However, the more I read from everyone else the more I realize that it must be somewhat normal, because there are so many of us that are having this brownish, sometimes reddish discharge. My ultrasound came back looking postive so that made me feel great. I also know that there is nothing a doctor can do to stop someone from miscarrying. I am just going about my daily routine and enjoying being pregnant, because I want this baby to feel nothing but positive feeling from her/his parents.

Hey, Briansangel! I have had the same thing--you know, spotting when straining. I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing that. I am about 7 weeks pregnant (I thought I was about 8, but I think I conceived later). Anyhow, read my post above. I had some heavier spotting last week, and all this week, some lighter spotting (brownish, reddish). And I noticed that when I have a bowel movement, or if I sneeze without trying to squeeze my v____a in, I will notice a little more faint spotting. But in the morning when I get up from sleeping, I don't notice any spotting, because my body has been at rest. So, I am like you. I will discuss it with my doctor on Tuesday when I go for a check-up. Does that mean that we will be the type of women that end up on bed rest towards the end of our pregnancy??

I am 5 weeks pregnant and I started to bleed a little a couple days ago after intercourse. It was bright red at first then it turned to a brown color. Went to the doctor today to have boold drawn and an ulta sound done. This is my 3rd pregnancy and still no little angle.Have to go back to the doc Thursday, praying that all is well. The waiting is hard, but knowing that I am not the only one experiencing this has given me so much hope. I pray for all of you and your precious miracles. May God watch over all of us!

I'm possibly pregnant...I was 18 days late...until late last night when I thought I had started my period, but it was just a small amount of brownish pink discharge. Since then I've had a little "bleeding", but nothing red in color, nor have I felt anything close to what I feel when I am on my period. I wonder if I was pregnant and have now miscarried or if I am still pregnant. Should I take a home test? If it comes out negative should I a__sume that this is just some abnormal mestrual cycle for me?

Susan - July 14

On Monday the 12th I started spotting.( I had a miscarriage at 5 weeks 2 months ago and it started with spotting and within 12 hours into the spotting I started cramping hard and I fully miscarried.) So I expected to miscarry by Tuesday, but I hadn't. I went to the doctors. They checked my hcg level and I had an ultrasound that day. The ultrasound measured my baby at 6 weeks 4 days and I saw its heart beating. The nexy day I got my level check back and it was over 66,000 which is very good for 6 1/2 weeks. I have some craming and still a small amount of brownish spotting. I pray that everything is okay, I want this baby soo bad!!! Good luck to everyone else who is going through the same thing , it can be so scary!

yes, i have in 2003 i found out i was pregnant and 3 days later i started spotting, i went to the ER and they did a sono and told me that i apparently had a miscarriage and was about 5wks along. i had only spotted for about 2 days, very light and all of a sudden it was a mess for a 2weeks, but i never had no pains, so i learned that you dont neccessarily have to have cramps to have a miscarrage. i just found out on 7-1-05 that i am pregnant again and last night i started bleeding again, i went to the ER and sat in the waiting room for 6hrs and never got seen, i know that if a women is have a miscarrage that the first thing she needs to do is lay down with her feet up and not sitting up in a hard backed chair for 6hrs. i am going to another hospital because i am stilling bleeding. i wish you the best of luck and hope that everything is ok.

my midwife told me she has a mom who had same experience, back ache and all, and after ultrasound, TWINS. Don;t worry yet- have you had ultrasound yet?
