Subchorionic Bleeding

BecPap, It's always a reason to worry if you start to bleed but I don't think you should worry that much because you haven't had any clots or cramps. As long as your doctor feels that the bleeding is no threat then you shouldn't worry. It may be hard to not worry about it but we usaully stress ourselves more when we worry. Try to stay positive and stress free. And relax as much as you can.

BecPap, it is always worrying bleeding or not. I bled with the last pregnancy and it was only brown and I still lost both of the twins, so you never really know. Try to relax as hard as that is, and yes get another scan, keep requesting them I did. It is funny how I didn't bleed as much last pregnancy as I did this one and it was red this one and all is well and I only have 7 weeks to go. Totally amazing. So things do also work out. Lots of ladies are in the same boat here. Good luck.

I am new to this whole forum setting, but I felt compelled to write just due to how much better I feel after reading a lot of these posts. I am 14.5 weeks and have been bleeding since 12.5 weeks (Sub Bleed). This has been such an unsettling experience. I thought it was getting better but it started up again on Sunday. Has anyone had issuse with it being the worst in the middle of night/early morning? I think the blood must just pools and when I get up to use the bathroom the toilet is filled with brownish/red blood. As the day progresses it seems like it is basically just when I wipe (maybe a little spotting on pad). Two US have shown baby to be fine...but I cant help wondering when I will go in and they will tell me something differently. It is so hard to be on bedrest with a 2.5year old who just doesnt understand why I cant do what I usually do with her. I am sure there are a lot of you in the same boat!

Kelly-My bleeding is very similar--worse at night and morning it seems. The pooling blood theory makes sense (in fact my doctor said that was what is going on). I am 11w5d and though baby is fine every time I go in, I, too, worry that one time I'll go in and have terrible news. I'm going to rent a fetal monitor for that reason. I don't have any young kids but I imagine it is very hard. Hang in there everyone.

I'm 12w3d pregnant and was diagnosised with a suchorionic bleed a couple of weeks ago. I started bleeding which was very red and went straight to the doctor's. They did an ultrasound and said everything was ok with the baby. The red blod only lasted that one day and then it turned brown for a couple of days. A week later went back and another ultrasound showed a ma__s of something next to the baby. I started having some brown blood again during this visit and it lasted a couple of days. Doctor wasn't sure if it was a blood or a cyst so I had to go to a specialist and they said it was blood. Went back to my regular doctor a couple of days later for another ultrasound and everything was still fine with the baby. She said that I will cointinue to have these bleeds and try not to panic. Well over the weekend the brown blood started again and now it's gotten a lot heavier and now I just a dark clot come out. Is this still normal with this condition or do I need to be really worried. It's all very dark brown color, no bright red.

Hi everyone, I had bleeding at 11 weeks and again at 13 weeks. Heavy heavy at first..I went for an ultrasound after each episode and everything was fine. I was told nothing was wrong with the baby/placenta and that it's avtually very common to bleed. I had no other symptoms. At the 14 wk episode they put me on bed rest for a week and full pelvic rest for 2-3 weeks. I bled lightly up until 16 weeks and it stopped completely, as did my morning sickness and vomiting. I think the vomiting had something to do with it personally, as it was pretty intense! I wouldn't worry about it too much, just take it easy! There really isn't much info on it either! The upside to this whole scary adventure is that I got to see my baby several times more than most people do!

Well, i had a U/S yesterday morning, and despite more bleeding daily everything is ok. U/S showed 2.2cm long, 9 week baby with 174bpm heartrate. I'm very relived of course, but they still couldnt find a cause for the bleeding. I have another appointment booked with the OBGYN next Tuesday for a second opinion. Thanks for all your kind words and support, i'll keep you posted! :)

To Eyes82000 - Do you have any cramping with this 2nd round of bleeding? If so you should contact your Dr. Actually, I would call and tell them what is going on either way. It is better to err on the side of caution right now.

eyes82000 - April 7

No, I haven't had any cramping I feel great. The bleeding is actually a lot better this morning. As soon as I got home from work last night I went to bed and didn't get up the rest of the night. I go to the doctor on Tuesday for another check up. She told me that I would have the on and off bleeding and as long as it stays dark then that means it's old blood and not an active bleed.

Hi Sarah how r u? Eyes8200 - I clotted too and all is ok, only I had red red blood and cramped, so take it easy all will be ok. Becpap - Great news on Scan and very strong hb well done. Fefer1 - I agree I got to see my baby 7 times by 12 weeks lol

Answer: what a fantastic forum this is, it's really helped! I had a +ve preg test 2 weeks ago (5 days after expected start of period)and have had tender b___sts and severe cramps at time of missed period and ever since, however the cramps started to settle after apporx 7 days. I began bleeding last week - light with moderate cramping. On having my ultrasound scan on the Thursday i was found to be 5 weeks and 6days. The +ves were that there was a yolk sac and that my cervix was closed however the clinician felt that she could see signs of where the bleeding is likely to be coming from and unfortunately she felt that it was an indication of the lining detaching and that a miscarriage was highly likely( is this the same as subchronic bleeding?). The cramps continued over thurs evening, however Fri there was less cramping and still some dark brown blood still only spotting. On Sat I decided to wear a Tampon to seemore accurately how much blood I was losing. It was a strange colour and consistency -almost black and thicker in consistency almost mud-like, and whilst slightly heavier not majorly so, no cramping. On sunday I found spotting of dark brown blood, but this lessened as the day progressed last night there was nothing to see. this morning there is a bearly perceptible amount -still no significant cramping. I still have b___st pain some mild nausea and mild headaches. I'm trying desperately not to get my hopes up, and in doing so find myself in cruel limbo-land. I am at the stage where I just want confimation one way or another. It seems like an eternity until Thursday when I'm due a follow up scan. I was wondering if my continued b___st tenderness, frequent urination and mild nausea and unusual craving for carbohydrate are typical signs when someone is miscarrying? any advice or information will be greatfully received, thanks

Good news! I went for a check up ultrasound today and the bleed went from 5cm to 3cm so it's starting to go away. The baby was doing great. Strong heartbeat and moving around like crazy.

lh-Its a frustrating position to be in. I've been there. Unfortunately you just can't know for sure what's going to happen. I've had 2m/c, 1 tubal, and now a subchorionic hematoma and unfortunately the m/c and the subchorionic hematoma feel the same to me. Yet with m/c the baby stopped growing before a h/b was detected but with sch it is growing well despite the bleeding and cramping. Hang in there. Hope it turns out positively.

Hi everyone....Well, the drama just goes on and on here...On the 3rd of April I had an OB appt--they did 2 scans b/c they could see clots both near my old c-sec scar and under the placenta(which is a previa)--I've been bleeding since week 11 (16 weeks now)...Well, the bleeding was pretty heavy, and tuesday night I was back in the ER--went to use the bathroom and it just gushed, and I pa__sed a clot the size of my palm. I freaked. They did an u/s etc in the ER--baby was fine and cervix was closed. So, I stayed in bed as much as possible for a few days, but the bleeding was pretty much the same. Had another big bleed sunday morning with another really large clot. I didn't rush to the ER this time, just kept my OB appt for this past monday. Again, cervix is still closed, baby's hb was 150. They took blood to check my blood count(iron deficiency) and to check my blood-clotting factor. IMO, it clots! Anyways, I see the perintologist(sp?) this next monday...I feel like I'm going to lose my mind at some point! The bleeding is stressful, Ciara keeps me hopping (she's 5 1/2 months), and my husband brought my MIL down to help, but it's actually more work for me--she's in poor health and afraid to take care of the baby who makes strange with her. Hoy! Yes, I know I can expect to spend some time in the hospital in the course of this pg--I've been warned. Doc says it may be a good thing--bring my family to their senses so I actually get some help with dd, etc. They said there is something they can try to put on the cervix to help absorb the blood?--Does anyone know anything about this? Thanks, Sherry

maylee - April 12

sherry-sounds like a lot of drama. Glad to know I'm not the only one. I've never gone to the ER, though, no matter how bad I'm bleeding (though if I really thought I would die I'm sure I would go) because they can't really do anything. I've never heard of something put on the cervix to soak up blood. Interesting. I can't wait for my fetal heart doppler to come. -AMy 12w5d, 5cmx5cm sch, 6wkds bedrest so far.

just had my ultrasound chech and we have a foetal pole and heartbeat and no signs of any bleeding - feel like it's a miracle!
