Subchorionic Bleeding

Hello everyone. Hope that you are all doing ok. I went for a follow- up ultrasound today and got to see the baby. The baby is fine and has a strong heartbeat. The blood clot has stayed the same though. It is still bigger than the baby, but has not increased. It is on the edge of the placenta, so my dr. wants me to stay in bed for 2 more weeks. the Dr. seemed optomistic that I should be able to fly home to the states in early Oct. I hope that that is the case. I really want to be home and safe

After 3 years of trying we were delighted to be preg with 2nd child. But at 5 weeks i had a very small bleed went to dr's he told me not to worry its common. At 7 weeks same happened again. Then at 9 weeks I had spotting again (light and no pain) and it varied from brown to pink, dr ordered a scan for next day, I was delighted to see a heartbeat on the screen, but they could see a area of bleed and normally will cure its self. I was told to relax and go back 2 weeks later. 4 days before my next scan was due i started bleeding slightly more until one sunday morning it was all over! They never tested hormones or anything i feel let down by the drs, i would like more info on my condition and there is none out there. I then had to go for an ERPC op 2 days later to complete the misscarriage i waited for 7 hours on an emergency list it was the most harrowing experience of my life! So ladies when you go to the dr's be more forceful and ask for more blood tests ect perhaps they may be able to help more they than do.

I am 9 weeks and 4 days and have a subchorionic bleed. I have had four ultrasounds already and all have dectected a very healthy heartbeat. My bleeding is pretty bad and I sometimes wonder how this little baby is surviving in there. I experience horrible cramping. I just thank God that the baby is still ok. The doctor has taken me off work and put me on bedrest. My progestrone is low also so the doctor thinks that might be what's causing some of the bleeding too. The good news is that since my first ultrasound on August 27th the hemmorage has decreased by half. The doctor told me that just because I am bleeding doesn't mean it's the end and that you have to let nature run it's course. She also said that most of the time your body will heal itself. I pray to God everyday that this pregnany will work out. It's hard on us ladies but let's stay strong and know in the end it will be all worth it! Good luck to all. I know first hand what you are going through. You are not alone in this. Apparently it is more common then we think.

There is hope! On Wednesday I had my follow up scan and was delighted to watch some baby aerobics and then a nap from my beautiful little one...The great news was when my Dr. called about the 2 chorionic bleeds I had, they reported that I now just have the one which means one has repaired itself!! and the other has not gotten any larger...I have my 14 week follow up next week then probably another utlrasound at 15 weeks to follow up on the second one!!!

Jessica, congratulations on the one sch that has gone away!!! That is such god news. I will pray that the other one reabsorbs as well. I am having a hard day. Wish I was home in the states. I am going a little crazy being in bed. I am trying to stay positive, but it is hard.

SharonF - September 10

Thank you and your prayers mean a lot to me!!!! I will pray that you get to come home soon!!!

I am going crazy in bed too! I have had some really bad pain with this subchorionic bleed. Worse than period cramps. Has anyone else experienced this? I have had several check ups but they keep telling me everything is ok and to go home and rest. I am in a lot of pain and I bleed pretty heavily at times. My hemmorage has decreased by half so I don't understand why I hurt so bad still. Anyone else experience this? I am only going into week 10 and I can't take the pain anymore. Does anyone have any remedies to help ease this pain?

jenifer - September 11

to Julie I have severe cramping but no bleeding. It is so bad that I've been to the ER 4 times. My doctor says the reason it hurts so much is b/c your body is noticing that something is wrong so its trying to fix it. so it is a good thing to hurt. the emergency room sent me home w/ tylenol 3 and phenergan and it helps some but i try not to take it until the pain is real bad b/c it is not good for the baby.My doctor nows and said she would have given me the same thing.other than that i don't know how to tell you to make the pain better. just tell yourself that everythings okay and this pregnancy will be alright. you can do anything if you believe. by the way no hot baths or any baths. the warm water as good as it feels, causes the uterus to relax and could cause a miscarrage it can also cause infection. good luck and if you find anything that works for the cramps let me know.

Jennifer, you and I seem to be the only ones who aren't bleeding. How often do you get an u/s done? I get them every 3 weeks. I am now 10..4 weeks, and I hope getting to this point w/out bleeding is a good sign. I had my last ultrasound on Sept. 5th and don't go back until the 26th. It seems like its years away. My cramps have gotten better. I wonder if this is a good sign.

SharonF - September 12

Oh yeah, I forgot to add that both my Dr. here in South Korea and my Dr. monitoring my situation in the states say that cramps are normal. I explain how severe they are and they say that it is because my uterus in stretching. What a load of c___p! These are not normal cramps. My cramps have been so bad, I thought that I was going to pa__s out. (Still praying to come home to the States)

i am 8 wks. pregnant and had an ultrasound 1 wk ago and was told I have blood clots on my uterus but I'm not bleeding. I go again in 2 wks for another ultrasound is this normal can't find any info. about this?

jennifer - September 12

Hey SharonF My dr. finds it hard to believe that I don't have any bleeding. my cramps are better but the last U/S I had said that the bleed was increasing. I've had anohter one done last Tues. and it is still there but the baby is ok. I go to the dr the 26th too. I will have another u/s then and every 2-3 wks after to follow the size. my doc says that either it will heal or I will miscarry. she says you don't have the bleed the entire pregnancy. I will be 14 wks on the 27 so I am hoping they will be able to tell me what I'm having.

I thought I'd post a follow-up. I had been bleeding since week 6 but last week, I delivered my baby boy at 14 week - it was complete miscarriage, but he was alive when he came out of me. I had a high fever two days before the miscarriage, went to doctor and was told that I had a flue. Take Tylenol and rest. That night, I had so much pain in my belly which became two minutes contractions by the morning. Went back to the doctor and he did u/s & pelvic exam, told me that the baby's heartbeat was good, everything looks good, the pain was probably due to blood clots, so take pain killers and rest. He sent me home. I delivered my baby 2 hours later at home by myself. It's been so hard. They kept rea__suring me that the baby's heartbeat was there, so even though I was bleeding, it would be fine. I was approaching the second trimester, so it should be fine. I don't know why I had miscarriage - maybe it was because of the fever I had, maybe it was caused by infection. I only wish the doctors did more - maybe test me for infection. What if's don't help, I know, but I wish I did ask for more tests while I was bleeding. They did u/s up to 10 weeks, but they did not want to do so many u/s as I already had 6 u/s done. So after that week, the doctor only used doppler to hear the heartbeat even though I was pa__sing blood clots. They even told me to 'ignore bleedig' because the baby was doing 'fine'. Don't know if testing for infection could've save the baby - probably not, but if you are bleeding, maybe it would help to ask your doctor to test for it. I hope all of you won't have to go through what I am going through.

Ann- I went through the same thing three weeks ago. I was on bed rest for the last two weeks and house rest before that for about three weeks. I was 11 1/2 weeks along and was bleeding since week 6. It is not fair to lose your baby to that stupid blood clot. It stinks!!! I cry almost every night and still hold on to the pictures and look at them. This would have been #4. I had three healthy pregnancies before that and have never experienced a subchorionic bleed before. I am so anemic right now and they have me on quite a few different supplements. I don't think I want to get pregnant again, I am just too scared. I'm not sure some of these doctors know what they are doing sometimes. My bleed was so bad at times yet the baby lived through it and looked great. I went in to my doctor's three weeks ago and was told that the hematoma cleared everything out and I don't even need a d&c. I was beside myself. That night I did expell the baby and I will never forget my precious baby's hands. I never had any pain or cramps. When I had to go back for my two week visit after all this happened I begged them on the phone to send me to someone that knows what they are doing. There are just too many doctors in that office and they all had different opinions. I was the one who decided to go on the bed rest those last two weeks, my doctors told me work was fine(I have a daycare). I had no idea what I was dealing with and my subchorionic hematoma was growing 1cm a week which they did not tell me. They really did not seem to care.

Julie - September 13

To Jenifer. Thanks for responding to my post. I am sorry to report this but I lost my baby on Sunday. It is very difficult. The doctor said that I can still have a normal pregnancy after this but I am scared. They said I can try again in 3 months. They also said that the subchorionic bleed may not have been the major problem that caused it. My progestorone was dropping despite the progestorone supplements I was taking. Something was just not working right. I seen the baby on the ultrasound on Wednesday and it was moving around. I went for another ultrasound on Friday and the baby was doing fine. Two days later I lost it. I will probably try after the 3 month time frame. I wish everyone the best of luck with their pregnancys.
