Congratulations to all of you who have made the journey or are looking forward to meeting your little one very soon! It has been inspiring to see that there are so many positive outcomes from this scary predicament. Unfortunately things did not work out that well for me. My ultrasound last week revealed that there is no longer a heart beat, so to all of you who are going through this right now (in the early weeks) just beware that there is a slim chance something may not go right. (By the way, I was 11 weeks). I am very sad but am hopeful that next time things will work out. Dear "MOMMY AGAIN", regarding the bedrest issue, I was told by my doctor that a lot of times bedrest is prescribed to help with any feelings of guilt one may have if something did go wrong. (What did I do wrong...I should not have walked those stairs / picked up that laundry basket.....etc.) Try to take it easy but don't confine yourself to bed....enjoy time with your two other little ones and just know that God will take care of you. Thanks everyone for letting me join in your experiences and God bless!

yes i have been diagnosed with a heamatoma at 5 weeks was large the doctor performing the u/s was not very positive at this stage i had only had slight bleeding 4 days later had a heavy bleed with clots was told by the ER doctor i had miscarried was given urgometrine to clear out uterus and a fluid drip the next day i was told that i would be going for an u/s to see if i would need a D&C when i did they found the gestational sac and through v____al u/s were able to see a fetal heart beat still and was sent home bleeding continued on and off went to see OB the following week and was relieved to be able to see heartbeat still bleeding on and off red/pink and brown blood another ultrasound at 8 weeks showed everything is going well but still continued to bleed i am now 9 weeks with light bleeding daily i feel like i am going crazy i dont have another appointment for 2 and a half weeks and i worry everyday i try and tell myself that it will be fine but it only works for a while i have cried the last three days i hope it all gets better soon reading this makes me feel alittle better knowing that this has happened to other people

Kathy - sorry you are going through this. I had so much heavy bleeding first and part of my second trimester and always tried not to lose hope but it is so scary. Remember you are still pregnant and nasty as these hematoma's are, they are surprisingly common. You know you aren't miscarrying and the bleeding is down to something they are aware of - that is something to cling on to. Rest up as much as you can as when you are bleeding it drains you anyway and try to eat iron rich food and drink plenty of water. Keep us posted. We all like to know how each other is getting on. Thinking of you and have everything crossed. Kathryn (37 weeks despite 2 large hematoma's!)

I had a subchoroinic bleed at 13 weeks. It was not very much and was brown blood. I have not had any again, but a scan showed it was still there but they were not concerned. Should I be concerned about this. Is it normal and does it go away? Thank you :)

I am 12 weeks and today the dr notice 2 subchorinonic hemmorages. i have not had any cramping or spotting but now i am scared. I was told it was common, and that it is usually caused by implantation, this is my 8th pregnancy, we found out i have a clotting issue so i am on Lovenox Shots. Yippie I have to take them everyday. however, today we saw the babies heart beat, and man it was dancing around in there like the baby off of alley mcbeal lmao. my friend said it just needed a cain and a hat anyway just thought ya'll could use some cheering up good luck!! to all of you and no you dont' realize how special life is until its threatened.

Hi everyone, I am 13+1weeks pregnant. I have been bleeding on and off from 5 weeks. Went for a scan 2 days ago, and they said they saw some bleeding from edge of the placenta. Nothing else was really said, I wasnt told anymore apart from if I had more bleeding to go back to doctor to arrange for scan. The word subchorionic hemaoma or bleeding wasnt used. Do you think that this is the same thing???? Bleeding has eased off, but I do suffer from low down cramps constantly.

i have been told by my ob that I have a subchorionic hematoma, I had bleeding from week 5 -8 Dark brown and the occasional slight red. The Dr said the pregnancy looks good but of course Im nervous .I have had 2 miscarriages in the past adding to my stress. Im now 12 weeks and going for the Downs syndrome test tomorrow. Fingers crossed everything will be ok. To complicate my issue I was previously diagnosed with Ashermans Syndrome which causes scarring in the uterus. I had a repair prior to falling pregnant and the Dr was happy with the outcome. wish me luck. I haven't had any bleeding for approx 2 weeks so that should be a good sign I hope.

Hi girls, Just to let you know our baby boy was born on 17 December weighing 8lb 6oz. I went into labour 10 days early so he took all of us by surprise. Please have hope everyone who is going through this, I had horrendous bleeding and even my consultant gave me a 50/50 outcome at 14 wks but we have a healthy baby boy. Kathryn x

Sharon - December 30

Kathryn, congratulations Im sure i can speak for alot of us in saying you give us hope. I went for my visit yesterday and the test all came out fine. The Dr told me he is happy with my progress the haematoma has decreased in size. Of course I had to ask the question so do you think everything will be ok now. He replied" Im happy but if the haematoma increases it will push the placenta of the wall of the uterus because of where it is postioned I will learn to not ask to many questions in future to much info is a stress dont you think. I will just keep praying everything will be ok.

Hi Everyone! This site is great - you ladies are wonderful, and I'm touched by your stories. I am 39, newly married, just moved to a new state, and was thrilled to find out I got pregnant on my honeymoon! However, I'm not happy with the doctor I found in my new town...they sent me to a hospital for a sonogram at 7 weeks. The technician found 2 sacs - one empty, and one with a baby who had a heart beat of 169 bpm. The technician called in a doctor (who was not an OB). He informed me there was blood on both sacs. My OB-GYN called me the next day, and without looking at any of my sonogram pictures (she only read the non-OB doctor's transcript), told me I needed to be on rest and take progesterone. I don't think she knew anything about the size or scope of the blood on the healthy baby's sac. Prior to the ultrasound, I only had one small incidence of bleeding, and that was right after intercourse. Then, I had brown spotting for a few days, which has since gone away. My questions are: Does anyone know if taking progesterone is necessary? I still have all signs of pregnancy sickness, tender b___sts, etc., and don't want to take a hormone that I might not need. Everything I've read on-line seems to indicate that the research about this is inconclusive. Also, I am planning on finding a new doctor for a variety of reasons, but I would like an OB-GYN to look at my sonogram and give me more information. When that happens, what kind of questions should I be sure to ask? Other than resting and avoiding intercourse, does anyone else have any advice? Since I am 39, and would love to have children, I don't feel like I have time for mistakes. Thanks everyone, and best wishes to you all for a healthy and Happy New Year.

Joanne R . B i do agree you need to find someone you are confident in there is enough stress during pregnancy and having a doctor you are confident in is essential . The ob I am seeing wanted a couple of repeat scans to make sure the fetus was growing and the hematoma I have wasn't getting bigger, which it has'nt but i had been Diagnosed with a subchronic hematoma which is outside of the sac itself. The idea of progesterone as I understand it is to strenghten the uterine wall< i haven't taking it myself as the Dr didn't feel I needed it but he has mentioned it in the past and as you probably have read many others have taking it as well. i would get a second opinion ASAP. One thing my Dr did say to me right at the start did I feel pregnant and if I did this is a good thing. When you see the next Ob/gyne be prepared with question even if you have to write them down because if you dont ask want is on your heart or in your mind you will worry, dont worry if you think it is silly just ask. They of course cant give you guarantees but they can give you they advice and knowledge. Have you had blood tests my Ob did a test called a Quanative Beta HCG which they do over a couple of days and the hormone levels apprently should at least double if the baby is growing so I was told. Anyway good luck and let me know how you are going I will pray for a good outcome for you.

Sharon, thank you so much for your kind and informative reply. I appreciate your encouragement and prayers very much. I have an appointment to see a new doctor next week. And yes, I still feel quite pregnant, as the morning (all-day!) sickness is still in full b__wn mode. :-) I'll keep you posted, and thank you again for your kindness.
