I havent been taking any vitamins, the baby seems to be just great and healthy, Very active. Has anyone else not taken vitamins and come out with a healthy baby and healthy pregnancy? I have a major problem taking vitamins or pills or anything of that sort. I make sure i eat good foods, full of the vitamins she needs... i am 27 weeks and 3 days

Many babies will be fine if the mother does not take vitamins. Glad to hear you are eating healthy. The vitamins are necessary for many b/c a lot of women do not ingest the amount of iron needed to support the increase in blood volume. The prenatals would not be so large without the iron. Also, many women are sick for three months and do not get the nutrition they need.

I did not take any vitimins but made sure I ate well, lots of foods with iron and healthy, fruits veggies etc.My son was 8 lbs and 21" seven years ago so I am sure your baby will be ok too.The vitimins are just an addition incase you do not eat well enough.I am pregnant now with my 3rd and am VERY low with Iron so I have to take them even if I am eating right.Best wishes

Vitamins, prenatal or otherwise are more for you than for the baby. The baby will get what it needs no matter what--he or she will take vitamins and nutrients from you. Therefore, to keep yourself healthy during pregnancy, you should take vitamins--but the baby should be fine either way.

If you are eating well it is probably fine. The one vitamin that can really make a difference is folic acid. A deficiency can cause some birth defects. Make sure that you are eating foods containing folic acid & keep in touch w/ your Dr./Midwife about proper nutrition.
