I recently gave birth on April 27th to my first child.I suffered 2nd degree lacerations and was wondering how long it would take to feel better "down there".Everytime I pee it burns. And also how long did you wait to have s_x?Thanks!

krissy1980--Congrats on your baby! I had my first on March 27th. I also had a 2nd degree tear but it didn't bother me much...what hurt the most was a smaller superficial tear near where I pee--that burned so bad it took my breath away when I went to the bathroom. It took about 3 weeks to feel better. Are you soaking in a warm bath 3 times a day? That was the only place I felt normal "down there". The hot water was very therapuetic. I thought it would burn to sit in water but it felt great. It's been 6 weeks since my baby was born and now I have another pain "down there". My doctor found that part of my v____al opening had fused together after the birth and he separated it by pulling it apart and then cauterizing it with silver nitrate. So it is horrible to pee. I am waiting at least another month before even thinking about s_x.

it felt better betwee nweek 2 and 3 except a little spot cause i had scar tissue build up and prevent a spot of my wound from healing and the father of my baby was away so our first oppurtunity to have s_x again wasn't until 6 weeks pp and i was scared but it didn't hurt at all, i was actually more sensitive...in a good way. it helps to sit on a foam donut you can buy at walgreens for $20 i even used it during pregnancy when my tailbone was hurting, oh and warm baths speed healing by increasing circulation. good luck hope you feel better soon. oh yeah use that spray bottle the hosital gave you when you pee it cuts the acidity
