Baby Blues

Does anyone still feel they have the baby blues or have had the baby blues for quite some while after having their baby? My son is 11 weeks and I'm feeling slightly low and tearful still. I have two other children and don't know if it's just down to sheer tiredness, but I'm so irritable and tense a lot of the time and seem to get upset by things so trivial. I really thought it would have passed by now, has anyone felt the same or gone through the same sort of feelings?

Tam, if you're feeling blue at 11 weeks PP, you may experiencing true PP depression. Baby blues should only last the first couple of weeks. I was feeling the same way you were....I was crying everyday. I was physically and mentally exhausted, irritable and tense as well. I finally told my doctor and she prescribed me the antidepressant Zoloft. I was totally against it since I am BFing my lo. But I did my research and it seems to be okay. I didn't like it at first but I've been on it for 3 weeks now and it's done wonders. I only take a 1/4 of each pill too. Good luck!

ppd can start anytime as much as 12 months after delivery. I would get help from your doctor, you will be glad to feel better!
