Hey ya'll. Just wondering when this horrid dark brown line down the center of my belly is going to start to fade. It's only been 2 1/2 weeks since I had my baby, so I don't figure it's going to go away anytime soon. When did yours go away, so I know about when to expect mine to fade???

my ds is almost 7 months old and the line is still faintly on my belly!! it's BARELY visible, though..... it started to fade around 3 months postpartum..

i read on the 3rd trimester forum that you can actually try to scrub it off. i tried this and it faded a lot! i did it with my own fingers though because i have so many stretchmarks and saggy skin that it hurt to do it with a loofah. i tried this about a week after my son was born, he is now 3 mos. and it is still visible, but not as much as before.

How in the world does scrubbing it off work??? Isn't it the melanin under the skin making it dark?

Okay so I shouldn't be on here because I haven't actually gven birth yet, but if you girls don't mind, I would like to comment.... My friend said her line took 6 months to go away and my mother said the same for her. I also have read that sometimes it doesn't go away completely. Interesting Old Wives Tale:An old wives' tale claims that if your linea negra runs only to your navel, you are carrying a girl; but if it goes all the way up to the xiphoid (bottom-most part of the center of your ribcage), it's a boy.

Can't remember how long it took to fade with my first 2 babies since they are 10 and 12 yrs old now,but my baby girl is 7.5 wks and mine doesn't look like it's going anywhere any time soon.Never heard that about scrubbing it off.

old wives tale so not true in my case too, mine runs all the way up and I had a girl. Another tale that didn't work was I was carrying 'high' so it was going to be a boy..nope! Anycase, piratesmermaid, I was also thinking the same about this horrible line!! It seemed to have started to fade, my husband noticed that yday when I was bf our dd...I guess I sorta gave up and wasn't paying attention till now. I'm almost 2 months pp now..so guess you might see some change by then!

My son is over 7 months old and I still have a pretty pronounced line. I am pretty fair skinned (blonde/ blue) so any pigment looks pretty dark. It went all the way up while I was pregnant- so the old wives tale was true for me. I wish the line would at least fade a bit more- but I am so lucky to not have any stretchmarks! (Even though I gained 42 pounds on a 5' frame)

The old wives tale is true for me! All the way up and I have a little boy. He will be three months old tomorrow and it's starting to fade but not as much as I would want it to. I guess it's a small price to pay for having such a precious little boy!! I am gonna try to scrub it tho lol I'm just curious. =)
