Ladies, I gave birth 3months ago. I noticed that for the past couple of days I am losing a lot of hair - it just falls OFF as I am brushing it. is that common and how do I prevent it.

Yes it is common. I started losing a lot of hair around 3 months pp. LIke you said it was just falling off. It got to the point where it was getting noticablely tinner. Around 6 month pp I could see new hair growth coming in. As far as I know theres now way to prevent it. From what I understand this is how it works... While you're pregnant all the hair you would normally shed stays there. Then after giving birth you lose 9 months of hair that would have normally been shed all at once. But it WILL grow back.

Yes, pregnancy hormones make hair thicker, so it is natural that it should fall out once the hormones wear off. It is sad though.

Oh yes it is very normal. It has to do with all your hormone changes etc. Heck I finally just finished b___stfeeding my son (31 months, so much for only wanting to do it for 12-18, lol) but it is just now starting to slow down on the falling out. Good luck to you!

it can also be that it is falling out if you are b___stfeeding. Your little one is taking all your nutrients, my doc suggested i continue to take my prenatel vitamins until i stop b___stfeeding. it has helped keep my hair from falling out, my nails are growning, and my teeth dont hurt(lack of calcium) i say try it, it cant hurt they are vitamins after all. Good Luck!

My hair is falling out like crazy too. I'm 3 1/2 months postpardum and its been going on for at least one or 2 weeks. By the end of the month I'll be bald! How long does it usually last for?
