I am going to be getting an IUD, there are two out there that I am considering. One lets out a small amount of horomones and lasts about 5 years, the upside to that one is it shortens your periods and could stop them all together. The other one is made partially of copper and the copper is what prevents the sperm from making it to the egg. It makes your womb inhospitable to the sperm. That one lasts for up to 10 years. My only choice is do I want the long lasting protection or do I want my periods shortened and possibly gone?

I have the mirena IUD. I use it for one year between my last 2 babies. I had it placed again after my last baby. I had spotting for 2 weeks and have not had a period since. You can have it taken out anytime you want.

i Have the mirena IUD the one that last 5 years i got it in august and i love it!!! It was kinda annoying because my cycle was 21 days but that was probably from having a baby lol but they are really light like maybe TMI but all i need is a panty liner. You can get it out whenever you want but forsure it needs to be replaced or remved after 5 years
