My doctor gave me some Lexapro samples today, and I was just wondering if anyone else has used it for postpartum depression. He told me that I could experience some flu like symptoms the first few days. Did anyone else?

Pirates... I took Lexapro with my 2nd baby. I never had the flu-like symptoms, but it did take awhile to kick in. I was told that on Lexapro the PPD could get worse before it got better. The 1st week on it I felt the same, the 2nd week I felt worse, but the third week I was back to my old self again! Anyway, hopefully it'll work sooner for you and you will get back to feeling like your old self again, too!

Things have been okay, better now hopefully that I'm taking lexapro. ;) Breastfeeding's gotten ten times better, so that's good. She's in her crib right now gibbering and cooing and grinning at her fish mobile. I swear she's 12 lbs now, or at least close to it! She actually slept for 5 1/2 hours straight last night, that's her longest ever. So that was really nice. How 'bout you, ashley??? Well, I'm only a few days into taking Lexapro, so I guess I'll find out in a couple more days if it gets worse. I feel a tad bit better, just enough to keep me from snapping at my hubby every ten seconds , but other than that I feel the same. So far no flu like symptoms, though I feel it kinda emphasised my tiredness.

PM-it can take up to 6 weeks to feel the full effect from any anti-depressant. I believe lexapro is an SSRI and you can experience s_xual side effects, which I think is about the only thing that is really noticable for most. Though they claim w/ lexapro there is a lower risk, but who knows.

PM-sorry forgot to write more.. I am doing okay. Don't think I am experiencing any PPD, though not sure i'd recognize if I was. Ocasionally I am moody. I did something stupid yesterday that didn't really help my mood. Theres been a box in the shop pretty much since we got married full of Dh's ex-girlfriend's c___p. Mostly christmas decorations, but there was a pair of doc martin shoes and I was digging through the stuff and there were two pair of underware of hers in there. yeah I could have done with out seeing that but I guess thats why I get for snooping. I also found a bunch of old cards and letters she wrote to him and ofcourse I had to read them. Silly I know. They were together for 6 years just like I was with my daughters dad for about that perhaps longer. I guess the green-eyed moster got the better of me. I knew about the stuff and I knew he had packed it up a long time ago and just never sent it. Now I am debating if I should send it or throw it or what?? Do you think she'd even want that stuff any more? They broke up the end of 2002 though I think it dragged out until march 03 and I met him May. I often wondered if I was rebound girl. Okay thats just me being insecure. ...................... Ian slept 5 1/2 hours last night the first stretch too. He slept 7 hours one night that was a treat! But usually its 4-5 hours for him. I've been busy making him baby food with peas, beans and carrots from the garden. I also bought some canning peaches and plums to make him baby food with that. He is 12 lbs already!!! At his 3 week check up almost 4 weeks ago he was 9lbs 11 oz. so I am sure he is at least 12 lbs now. If you want to check out some more pics of him go to www.ashleytebay.piczo.com how you start feeling better!

Okay, did any of ya'll have any "s_xual" side effects with lexapro? Like decrease desire?? I don't know if it's 'cause I'm b___stfeeding or the meds, but I just don't want it. I did a few weeks after birth (I really wanted it like the first two weeks we came home, and couldn't get it, haha), and now I just don't.

i just started on lexapro for anxiety and some PPD -- mine kicked in after my period resumed a couple months ago - my dd is 6 mos -- DAY 1, i feel less tension but i feel more tired. if that continues i might have to talk to my OB b/c i need MORE energy, not less! yrs ago i tried Celexa but it made me hyper. now i'm thinking i need some of that! i'll update how i feel on this stuff in a few days.
