Hi... has anyone else developed ocd (fear of contamination : handwashing, cleaning, fear of disease etc) DURING their pregnancy? I am 32 weeks and it started at 17 weeks and I feel like I'm going mad! I am scared to sit down on chairs in public places, touch ANYTHING in my dr.s office, eating out is a big event as I'm worried someone has done something to my food/drink etc.... Has anyone else experienced this? I was completely "normal" befor I became pregnant!!!! ANY ADVICE would be appreciated! Thanks

I have that all the time pregnant or not. My hands are so dry and alligatory because I wash my hands everytime I touch anything. I make my husband pick up the ketchup and salt&pepper at restaurants, because I wont touch them! You are probably just concerned about keeping your baby healthy and you dont want to get sick! Oh and I wont open doors to stores, whoever is with me I let them lead without them knowing it so they'll open the door! Im really bad!

I had OCD contamination when pregnant with my first midly - I thought it was just nesting and would go on the birth of my child. It wasn't and it got a lot worse, I needed therapy to cure it - CBT and it took 6 months for it to reduce to liveable levels. I have been fine until the birth of my second child and now have it again. Its normal to feel you are going mad but you aren't - you do need to get help though, either therapy by an OCD specialist and/or anti-depressants.
