Try fish oil or an omega-3 product. http://www.softecare.com/Ingredients/omega-3_fetal_development.cfm Postpartum Depression and Omega-3 Fish Oils: Postpartum depression should be of major concern during pregnancy. By adding the omega-3 fatty acid DHA to your diet, you can significantly decrease the effects of postpartum depression. Current research shows a link between a mother's DHA intake and postpartum depression, the latter of which affects 15-20% of women in the U.S. It is important to remember that fetal development, as well as newborn infant development, depends on the maternal supply of DHA. If a mother’s supply of DHA is low, the fetus will take most of that supply leaving the mother depleted of DHA, thus leading to one possible precursor to the development of postpartum depression condition.

Omega-3 Fatty Acids and Health EPA is the precursor for the series-3 prostaglandins, which support healthy blood pressure,1 cholesterol,1,2 and triglyceride3 levels (providing they are normal to begin with), healthy kidney function, inflammatory response,4 and healthy immune function.4,5* Many clinical trials have shown omega-3 fatty acids, in the form of fish oil supplements, to be effective in supporting healthy joints.4,5* Docosahexanoic acid (DHA) and the omega-6 fatty acid, arachidonic acid, are the dominant fats in the nerve cells of fetal and infant brains. Some health authorities have even recommended fortifying commercially prepared infant formulas with DHA to support health and nervous system development.6,7,8* DHA is also an important structural component of the retina and is therefore essential for eye development and growth.9 Why BiOmega-3™? In the U.S. and Europe, the amount of omega-3 fatty acids consumed in the average diet has dropped drastically. The refining and hydrogenation processes that lengthen shelf life have also reduced the omega-3 fatty acids in commercial vegetable oils. Supplementation with BiOmega-3 is an excellent way to ensure that your diet includes the healthful omega-3 fatty acids. USANA's BiOmega-3 is guaranteed to be free of heavy metals, organic contaminants, pesticides, and trans-fatty acids. Each capsule also contains 1 mg of mixed natural tocopherols to minimize oxidation of the omega-3 fatty acids and to maintain product quality during storage. BiOmega-3 is laboratory tested, potency guaranteed. Meets USP specifications for uniformity and disintegration where applicable. USANA guarantees its potency. http://yanglife.usana.com/topFrameset.html?bottomFrame=http://www.usana-nutritionals.com/articles/USNUARTICLES_66669.html

You can eat fish. Certain types of fish contain more of the beneficial stuff than others, salmon, trout, and mackrel for instance. There is also the possiblity of mercury contamination, the potential dangers of low-level mercury consumption need to be balanced against other potential benefits. Avoid eating marlin and swordfish and limit intake of tuna, all of which contain high levels of mercury. Tuna is "ok" if eaten infrequently, how infrequently is debatable. You will notice to the side the advertisments for "distilled Fish Oil" they claim that they contain less mercury so are better for you. You should really do your own research to become better informed and decide what is best for you.
