i was just wondering how big of a deal it is to try a new formula with my 2 wk. old baby. is it something i should wait and talk to my dr. about? or is it ok to just try it on my own? i'm only asking because my baby seems a bit fussy, and sometimes appears to have some tummy issues(gas, spitting up, etc.) and i received a sample can of formula from the hospital that is for those types of issues. it's the same brand of formula, just with some different things in it, i guess. i thought about trying it out, but didn't know if i absolutely should wait until talking to the dr. first. just curious.

I switched mine from Enfamil with iron to Enfamil AR without telling anyone - I brought it up at his next appt a month later and they didn't seem to really care (gotta love military doctors) but as long as he is thriving ok they won't say too much. I think as long as it's made by the same company and you're not doing something drastic as changing to soy - go for it...
