I was just wondering what to expect after I have my baby? I have heard very few women talk about it and the information I have read is, frankly, a bit scary. it sounds like my whole body is going to go haywire emotionally and physically. I need some advice. Any helpful suggestions for getting through this time would be great.

Hi, Dont worry. I can only talk about v____al delveries but i felt sore down there (obviously), tired and super slim !!! even though i wasnt i suddenly had no belly. You feel like you gave birth through your back pa__sage as apposed to the front cause thats where you push from. After a few days, you start feeling better physically, you are still bleeding but not as heavy and that can last anywhere from 1 week up until several weeks. Be prepared to miss your bump, scared of the baby cause you are not sure what to do first time around, and crying at all sorts of silly things, with my forst baby i cried for nothing quite a lot, with my second i cried cause i no longer was pregnant and all the anticipation and excitement had gone !!!! the baby blues wont last anymore than a week or two. If you have help once you are at home with baby, make the most of it, go and get a nice bath, relax when you can and except that you cant do everything and your body needs time to adjust. My Lo is 7 weeks now and i feel great (apart from tired) i weigh less than i did before pregnancy , i have a new hair cut and i am back in nice clothes. Dont worry too much as it is something you are going to go through and its a wonderful experience producing your baby, you soon forget the pain !!!!

My best advise for labor and delivery (if your not opposed) get the epidural!!! I had it with all three of my babies. After the baby arrives make sure you get SLEEP!!! You also want to eat well, this helps prevent pp as well as gaining your stregnth back. You'll do great, good luck!!

well, just as a different perspective, i went drug free, and definatly will next time too, but no matter what you do you will be sore. those diaper ice packs the nurses gave me helped. go to wal greens and buy a foam donut to sit on they're like $20, the boppy pillow helped make nursing easier when it still hurt to sit (as did the donut) and take a hot/warm bath a few times a day if you can, it will help speed healing and is better and easier than the sitz bath they'll give you, but those really do help too. my ob said try 20min baths 3 or 4 times a day if i could (who has time for that with a newborn?) i would nurse in the tub and just keep him out of the water except his feet and sometimes b___t(no wet belly b___tons yet) and tylenol helps and is ok for nusring. finally ask for help, it will be difficult to get up and down all the time so just ask people to hand you whatever you need whenever and don't feel bad...look what you just did...they should kiss your feet...you are a goddess! :) good luck, you'll do just fine

oh i forgot. watch the dvd the happiest baby on the block. i could kick myself for waiting til he was 2months to watch it. it would have saved me so much sleep and heart ache. its what you need to know to soothe a newborn-4month old or so just right. i have tried it with 7 different babies and it never fails, my friends and i swear by it. or at least check out the book...page 190 is a good summary of everything you need to know

I went natural because basically I had no choice. The hospital I gave birth at didn't offer it. I used the gas and had some Fentanyl in my IV. It hurt but wasn't as bad as I thought. Next time around I don't think I will bother with an epidural because it was easy to know when to push. Afterwards they may take you directly to the shower. DO NOT BE AFRAID of the amount of blood loss. There is quite a bit and that's normal. I must be lucky because I was only sore for the first 3 or 4 days even after a small tear. Those icepacks are a Godsend. Use them as much as possible! Get your rest too. Good luck girl!
