Antidepressant Meds While Pregnant

Hi, this is my 3rd child/pregnancy only in my 10th week now. I have been on wellbutrin before and actually was when I got surprisingly pregnant with this one and quit taking it immediately. I have two other young young children and do feel like I need to take something to help me because I feel like I'm not being the mom I should be to them but I am sooo scared it will do something to the baby. My doctor says it's fine - something like prozac or I think Zoloft. I suffer from both anxiety and depression. Has anyone had any sort of experience with taking these types of medications while pregnant? If anyone out there has taken these meds could you please let me know if they cause a ton of weight gain? I know you gain weight when you're pregnant- this is my third one- but I'm extremely self conscious about this and dont want to gain an extra 50 lbs- I would just rather gain the recommended 25-35. Anyway, please let me know if these drugs did help you- that's really the most important thing to me.

I quit taking Effexor when i found out I was pregnant with this one and I went a full 7 months before finally realizing that I was not living up to my full potential as my of my two other children. DH has been good enough to stick it out even though I have, at times become unbearable, even to myself. I finally talked to my doctor about it last friday and he suggested I go back on the Effexor. (I am 29w today) I started taking it immediatly and felt horrible! The side effects were enough for me to worry so I went back on tuesday and asked if there was something else I could take, I've now been taking Cellexa for 4 days and it seems to be alright. No side effects to note other than I find myself tired after taking it. I did notice this morning i was a bit more snappy this morning than usual, but I got it under control and feel good now. Talk with your doctor and good luck! I think that sometimes the benefits outweigh the risks and you have to go with what you feel comfortable with!

I was on paxil before I was pregnant and quit as soon as I found out. The drs keep telling me it was okay to keep taking it but with all the law suites against the makers of it I just couldnt take it so they put me on prozac. I worked good for the depression but not so much for the anxiety. I only gained a total of 22lbs my whole pregnancy. GL

I was on Zoloft (100mg) my whole pregnancy and my daughter is very very healthy and lively. Nothing wrong with her as far as I can tell -- infact, she's an overly happy baby. lol. I gained a lot when pregnant, but it's something that ALL women in my family have experienced (50+ lbs.), so I don't think it's directly related.
