I'm sorry to tell you that yes it is completely normal. But don't worry, it won't last forever. You already have 12 days gone so things should start getting better soon. My first baby I think I lived on ibuprofen for the first few weeks. And if you haven't already, try the lasinoh nipple cream.

Unfortunatly it happens even for those who have had previous babies. I would bite onto my shirt everytime he latched and this lasted for about 2 weeks and than my nipples toughened up. What was worse I had scabs on them and I never had that before! I would sometimes ice my nipples, it worked for me and felt a million times better.

are you positive you got a good latch? My doula is also a lactation specialist(she haves her master in lactation) she told me if you have a good latch it shouldnt hurt after about a week. after my milk came in my b___st and nipples felt a lot better. Also go and get you some Lansinoh(comes in a purple box) put it on your nipples...also my doula says rub n the milk on your nipples after a feeding thats the best conditioner. lol you may think its crazy but she is big on b___stfeeding and b___stmilk...my 2week old has dry skin on her hands and feet...she said rub b___stmilk on it and diaper rash...you may laugh but her hands are no longer peeling after 2 days!! well good luck.
