Postpardum Bleeding Question

I had my son 5 weeks ago. I was told when I left the hospital to contact someone if the bleeding return to bright red (fresh) blood after it darkens. Well, for the last few weeks I will stop bleeding completely for one to three days and then it starts again and it is bright red. Is this a sign of a problem? I worry that I may be internally injured in some way that makes me continue to bleed fresh blood. Is this silly, or should I do something?

leaster you are probably doing TOO much. A lot of women go through this right about the 5/6 week time -- some of them think they are having a period already (they usually aren't). Give your doc a call, but I'd guess that you just need to take it easy. Do you have a 6 week appointment? You can talk to your doc then, too. It's not silly at all to worry. If it smells funny, or seems like it's a lot of clots, I'd definitely get to the doc. But it sounds like exactly what happened to me (and a lot of my friends) who have had fairly easy births and tried to do too much too fast. Don't ever be afraid to call your nurse! Good luck and I hope it's nothing.
