I have the Mirena IUD also and was told that I could spot for a couple of weeks. I've had it for two weeks and I soaked a few pads since then and spotted a little off/on. Did you have any problems with your strings? I had to go back a day after I had it inserted because they kept poking me. They were shortened about in inch. Which seems like a lot. I still feel them poking me every now and then. But I was told they were supposed to soften up and curl up inside of me. What do you think? You can email me: Hanna44me@aol. com

I Have had an IUD for about 1 year and when I first got mine the strings poked me but they did go away and no longer hurt. I also had the bleeding problem but after about several months I have almost lost my menstral cycle compleatly. I do have one question I was told by a college health professor that the IUD causes a continual abortion when the egg gets fertilized does anyone know about that or was that the old IUD's.

I have had my mierna iud for a year now. I bleed for the first three months. Since then I bleed very lightly some months and other months it like a normal period. I would say the only thing i dont like is, before i had my iud i never felt when i ovulated, and now i do. hope i helped some. sduck19@yahoo.com

I am considering an IUD right now. I do know that the IUD does not allow a fertilized egg to implant. For an egg to implant in the uterine wall the lining must be thick and full of blood. The IUD continually sc___pes the uterine lining never allowing it to become thick. THe great thing about Mirena IUD is that is releases hormones so you are ideally never supposed to release an egg and there for it would never get fertilized.

i got the Mirena IUD at about 6 weeks after my daughter was born. and i am super sensitive to birth control, and so this one wasnt supposed to make it so youcouldnt nurse. but at about 5-6 months i could no longer nurse, my milk was gone. my period got longer in length, but very light.

I got mine in January. I bled for a month straight and then my next period was two weeks late. Very scary stuff. Now my periods are getting closer together and longer. I also spot sometimes. I also believe the IUD has a higher failure rate than we are told from reading the boards on here. I am waiting to test because I am on CD 17 and no spotting plus feel pg. I would recommend thoroughly reconsidering if you think you want an IUD. I can feel it move and it hurts. I can't feel the strings and it gives you pg symptoms sometimes and PMS symptoms other times. BEst wishes.

I had a Mirena IUD after I had my daughter. It was put in and I bled for the two months that I had it in. I also had really bad pains that concerned me. When I went to the doctor he took it out and it had embedded in my uterus. I don't want to scare anyone because some of my friends have them and they are working great. Just make sure you let your Dr. know if you start hurting and you don't think it feels right.

I'm thinking about Mirena myself. As far as I've read it's normal, but you should talk to your doctor just in case.

I have the Minera, was fitted for it in Dec 06, I bled for the first 2 weeks after I had it put in, with pain in my left hip/pelvic area. The pain has slowly gone away - not it hurts sometimes but not as long or as bad as before. My periods were on time up until now. But this past month I thought for sure I was going to start...but didn't. I am waiting until the end of the week to buy a HPT.
