I Just Don T Get It

I went in to have my first u/s on 2/12. I believed that I was 9wks,1day by my LMP, of which I am sure of. The u/s tech said that she saw a yolk sac , and that the size of it dated the growth at about 5wks,4days. My hcg # (from 1 week prior) were 19,000. I told the tech that I was really confused as I know when my LMT was and this was a planned pregnancy. My cycles are regular and last between 24-28 days (never longer) and I have only missed one period (not due to pregnancy) in the 24 years I have had my period. I took a pregnancy test when I was late for my period (about day 30) and it was positive. I have a healthy 21/2 year old girl with my first pregnancy (no complications at all and pregnant on the first attempt) and one miscarriage that happened last year at about 6 weeks (also pregnant on the first attempt) that I dispelled naturally but was away on vacation so not really sure why , my dr said when I returned that it was most likely a blighted ovum...and now at age 35 I became pregnant on the first attempt again...no spotting and I have been holding my breath for 9 weeks already only to get this confusing u/s results. This is not just a case of mis-dating (as were talking a difference of 3wks plus), and I'm not sure if there was a fetal pole or hb at the u/s. The tech showed my results to my dr and the response that was relayed was just to come back in 1-2 weeks for another u/s. NO mention of a possible miscarriage, but how can I not come to that conclusion if I think that my baby should be 9 wks developed and it is only at 5wks, 4days. Something has to be wrong and I'm going a bit crazy...I just don;t get it....anyone who has some input would really help.

I AM IN THE SAME SITUATION AS YOU. I WENT TO THE DOCTOR ON 2/12 ALSO AND HE DID A PELVIC EXAM AND SAID I FEEL ABOUT 8 WEEKS. ACCORDING TO MY LMP I SHOULD BE ABOUT 11 SO I HAVE BEEN WORRIED. HE SEEMED TO BELIEVE ALL WAS FINE AND TOLD ME EVERYONE DOES NOT OVULATE BY PERIOD CALCULATIONS BECAUSE EVERYONE'S BODY IS DIFFERENT. SO ALL I CAN SAY IS PRAY AND JUST KEEP YOUR HEAD UP. IF YOU HAVEN'T HAD ANY SEVERE BLEEDING OR CRAMPING ALL SHOULD BE FINE. TRY TO JUST REST AND RELAX. DON'T PUT THAT STRESS ON YOUR BODY. I PRAY THAT ALL GOES WELL FOR YOU.

I have a similar situation. At the 1st appt. the Dr. did a pelvic exam and based on my last period I would have been 8 1/2 weeks. A week later I went for u/s and was told I was 6 weeks. At that point I thought I was 9 1/2. I went today and now I am 9 but he couldn't pick up a heart beat but wasn't worried. He said he does not always hear them before 10 weeks. I go on Tuesday for another u/s and if there is no change for the last we would know there is a problem. I have never miscarried and am freaking out. It doesn't make sense so I feel your frustration. The only explanation I got was that you don't always ovulate exactly 2 weeks after your period and that is why they do the 1st u/s. I will feel better when I get a heart beat. Good luck.

well..finally I have my answer after a follow-up u/s a week later. Unfortunately, there was no fetal pole or heartbeat, and so my next steps are to decide if I want to allow the miscarriage to oocur naturally or have a DNC. I'm very sad as this is my second mc. Irealize others have gone through much worse...thank you all who responded and good luck to you.

I AM SORRY ABOUT YOUR LOSS AND I WILL KEEP YOU IN MY PRAYERS. REMEMBER THAT ALL HAPPENS IN GOD'S TIME. I'M SURE EVERYTHING WILL WORK OUT FOR YOU IN THE FUTURE. TRY TO STAY POSITIVE
