Dear ladies...I have a missed m/c (should be 9 weeks now, no heartbeat, baby is not growing, only 6.5 week size)....I had my last u/s today...the doctor is asking me if i want to wait for m/c to happen on its own or do D&C..I'm not sure what is better. I have no cramps or bleeding of any kind yet...she said it can take up to 6 weeks for it to happen on its own...I'm kind of scared to have to wait, but, at the same time - scared of this procedure...Anyone had this problem before...I thank you for your help!

Hi alenka....i am sorry to hear your loss. like you, i too had a missed m/c at about 10 weeks (baby was six weeks. My second m/c was very similar, only baby was 11 weeks. For both I had a d&c...The doctor said that it was probably safer. I was very scared to miscarry naturally. The first d&c at 11 weeks was painful, but the second was much easier, I think due to the size. Emotionally and physically I think a d&c is better. Whatever you choose, it will be an emotional time, but you will get through and begin to look forward to achieving pregnancy again! Good luck and my thoughts are with you. I am back on clomid now after my lat m/c 8 weeks ago and am very positive it will happen for me too. Take care.

Hi alenka sorry to hear this has happened to you I really I am. I have been there. I had an U/S at 10 weeks to find the fetus only measured 6 weeks and they told me i had had a missed miscarriage. I was told i could either miscarry naturtally which they told me could take a few weeks or have a D & C the following day. I decided to have the D & C the following day. I had hever had an anaesthetic before but it was very quick , think i was only under for 5 minutes and i was home by mid day. Immediately afterwards I had some cramping similar to that of normal period and a bit of heavy beleeding and I then spotted for about 2 weeks. Exactly 4 weeks frome the D & C I started my next AF whch was much heavier than normal. However, i have recently had my second AF whch was completey normal. Its such a hard decision to make but I do feel i made the best decision for me. It helped me gain closure on the situation. The strange thing was the night before the D & C I started pa__sing some small clots but they decided to do the D & C anyway as they did not want me to end up with a possible infection. Its a personal choice though. All the best.

Hi Alenka. I'm so very sorry for your loss. I had a d&c in Dec. for a missed m/c. I was 13 wks, but bby only measured 8w5d. My dr. scheduled me for the d&c about 12 hrs after we discovered my baby had died. He really didn't even give me a choice. Personally, I'm glad he didn't. The d&c was totally painless and very quick. The emotional aspect is definitely the hardest, but you'll experience that whether you m/c naturally or have the d&c. Like Lesa said, it is definitely your choice. My dr. told me there aren't many risks to the procedure and the success rate it pretty high. Good luck to you. You will be in my prayers!! (((HUGS)))

BTW - I shouldn't have said "success rate". I should have said - the risks of complications are pretty low. I read that after I already posted and thought it sounded pretty horrible. Good luck to you and I will say a prayer!!

I would choose the D&C. Waiting for it to happen naturally would be torture in my opinion. Also, it can be painful and take a long time to happen. A D&C it's over very quickly, no physical pain or side effects. Don't worry, whatever you decide to do, you'll get through it.

sa__sifras - April 21

Its definitely a personal choice, but waiting for me was absolute torture. I had an m/c at 9 1/2 wks, fetus only 7, and I just wanted the whole thing to be over. Nothing was happening on its own so I decided to have the D&C. I did not have any pain, minimal bleeding, and a normal cycle after 28 days. The natural way might technically be "better" for your body and less risky, but it depends on how you feel about waiting it out. For me the sooner it was over with the sooner I could move on, and 2 cycles later, I was pregnant again:) Whatever you decide, make sure you have someone you can talk to, either way, this situation can take a major toll on you and those around you. Good luck with whatever you decide!

Hi, Alenka. I'm so sorry tabout your loss. I had another u/s last tu, still the same. Just the sac, no baby, even though me hcg was good - 7500. Dr suggested d&c. I decided to wait. Dr should call me on Mo. Which pills the inserted? Please let me know how is going. Do you have cramps already? I want to tell my Dr about it and ask for it. All this made me so depressed that I have a hard time to move through the day. Will keep you in my prayers. God bless you.

alenka - April 22

Galya..thanks for the note...i'm sorry ...how many weeks ar you? My doc told me if it's no more than 10 weeks, then the best option will be not to do D& C yet...The pill she inserted,,4of them ,called "Misoprostol"....i started to have cramps about 8 hours after...they were bad but i could tolerate them and i took good pain pill...cramps lasted all nite and then the bleeding started...nothing terrible bad, just lile a heavy period...I'm taking it easy today..i need to go back next week to measure HGC level...and then a week later again....let me know how you doing...

Galya - April 24

Alenka- there you are! I am sorry to hear that it did wind up a m/c. I had a d&c and it was OK. Eitrher way it;s a personal choice. Has your body started the process yet? I am thinking of you. I am not on my 2nd af since the d and c and it is normal. I feel back to normal now. finally!

alenka - April 25

I feel fine now...i was cramping bad but only for one day and i took a pain pill...other than that it's like normal period...i'm going to the doc this week to take blood for HGC level and for check up...Galya, how much longer you need to wait??? dont worry it will be fine.

stace - April 25

Hi alenka, so sorry to hear your news. I hope you feel better soon. I think I've miscarried every way, one natural and 2 missed. For the first miscarriage I had a D&C which was fine, well horrid but painfree and I was home the same day. My second missed m/c I had the pills and it was the worst experience of my life, it was extremely painful and I had to be admitted to hospital and given diamorphine and put on a drip. I'm glad your experience was nothing like that as I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. If anyone asked my opinion I could never ever reccommend those pills but as I say im glad it didn't go that way for you. Take care.
