My name is Grace and I am a student at Hampshire College who is doing her senior thesis on women’s experiences of pregnancy loss. My goal is to interview as many women as I can about their story. This experience is one that can shake lives, but does not generally get discussed. While working as an assistant at an OB/GYN last summer and at Mount Sinai this summer, I was most affected when my patients found out that they were having a pregnancy loss. Women who have experienced a loss during a planned pregnancy have told me about feeling guilty that their body was not able to function normally. This has left me with a strong curiosity to explore the reasons for the stigma and silence surrounding the Pregnancy Loss experience. In addition to trying to identify factors that influence the stigma of the event, I also want to create a space within which women are able to share their experiences and have them used in a respectful way that contributes to current support structures. I am looking for women who are currently at least eighteen years of age, have personally experienced a Pregnancy Loss before 20 weeks.
