Late Miscarriage At 18 Weeks 3 Days

I went in one week before my regularly scheduled ultrasound due to some light spotting and when they did the ultrasound, there was no heartbeat. Found this out on dec 31st of 09 and had to be induced the following day on jan 01 2010. It was a baby girl. It turned out it was due to a "cord accident", the umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck and arm. Otherwise, she was perfect. I was alway so worried that something would go wrong and feel like I somehow caused it. I know logically that it wasn't my fault but can't help feeling that way. Now I'm going through some physical stuff that would normally follow a delivery. Lactation being the worst. It's a horrible feeling to have to go through it when my body is producing milk for a baby that I don't get to have. I know it will get better with time but can't help but feel it won't. I just feel empty. Does it ever get easier?

Hi Diane75, i feel your pain. i just lost my baby boy also , i went in for my routine 20 week check up and to get my amniocentesis done 12/30/2009 at 3pm, when i was told there was no heart beat, that i had lost the baby 2 to 3 days ago.I am still waiting for the autopsy results but they think it was from an infection. i felt that my life was over, i still feel the same way. I was induced that evening and gave birth to him at 12.46am on new years eve. See i am 37, single and decided i wanted a baby a few years back and have spent all my savings on IVF treatments and this time it finally worked, i was so grateful to the lord. The pregnancy was problem free until i got the devastating news on my 5 months checkup 6 days ago. As you said I feel cheated, i had to go through the pain of labor, lactation only to say hello and goodbye to my baby last week. So i know how you feel, and i pray that this pain gets better, but for now i am taking it one day at a time, so hang in there. Cappugirl in Maryland.

hey cuppugirl, since we both had to be induced only a day apart from eachother, I was wondering if your bleeding has stopped. I went to my OB at 3 weeks (21st of Jan) and at that point, my bleeding had pretty much stopped. They said everything looked good and my uterus felt like the normal size. I got the okay for any physical activity. Well, 2 on the 28 or 29, I started spotting. I figured it was just the tail end of my previous bleeding but today I noticed it is getting heavier. I wouldn't imagine that it would be my period but don't really know what's going on. Is this anything like you've experienced?
