Had A Miscarriage Passing Tissue

It's been 10 years since I had an experience that I believe was a miscarriage. I wasn't sure until I started reading up on some of your discriptions. It started with light bleedings and crampings that I seldom experience during my periods. And because my periods are irregular, I never know when I'm having my cycles. Anyways, I remember being at work and experiencing cramping pains with pa__sing of small clots. I went to the bathroom and before I flushed, I had noticed a bigger clot with greyish tissue. It reminded me of an oyster structure surrounded in blood. I mentioned it to my co-workers how odd it was to see that, but they didn't show concerns, either. The pain and bleeding stopped immediately that day. I have never experienced a miscarriage and have 2 full term pregnancies 10 years prior. I have forgotten about the experience even though it comes back to me and makes me wonder if I did experience it. My current husband and I just celebrated our 10th year anniversary and have tried for years to conceive. In fact, we haven't used any birth control methods since we were married. Now after reading your articles, I am confident that I was pregnant with his baby, even though we didn't have the opportunity to conceive it to full term. He doesn't have any children of his own, but has accepted mine as his own.

I miscarried at least 6 weeks. I am haunted by the tissue that pa__sed--many blood clots and something else I saw. It looked like a "used" tampon--but it, of course, it was not. Does anyone know what that would be? I asked my doctor and she said there was no way of knowing and REFUSED to talk about it further. I am having a hard time living with what I saw, because I flushed it down the toilet right away. I was faint and in bad pain at the time. So I am trying to forgive myself for that. I asked the therapist, and he suggested that maybe it was the mucus plug. If it was the gestational sac, would the embryo have been inside it? Or does the embryo break up into pieces before the body expels the sac? Anyone?

Hi ladies, I also miscarried on Jan 10 and I woke up at 3:00 Saturday morning with horrible cramps and then at 4:30, 5:15 and 6:20 I pa__sed large amounts of tissue and had heavy bleeding for about two days and just the last few days have stopped mostly bleeding. My OB said to look for a grey large round disc which would be the placenta which I did not see but went for a internal v____al ultrasound which showed that everything had pa__sed O.K. and don't need a D&C. He also told me to wait until I had a period before trying again which would be about two to four weeks. I agree it was very devastating but to all please get checked out to make sure everything is O.K. as he also told me to watch for signs of infection such as a high fever, more cramping, nausea, etc. to get to emergency if those occur. Would be glad to help answer any questions if I can as this was my first miscarriage and hopefully my last. Will try to conceive again as soon as possible.

I too induced a miscarriage this Friday. We had gone to the Doctor four weeks ago, and she told us that although they were able to detect the heart beat, it was too low (80 bpm), and thus she warned us that it indicated that a miscarriage was vary likely. Sure enough, one week later, after the second ultrasound, no heart beat was detectable and no growth was apparent. I was not prepared to accept this, as my progesterone levels were continuing to go up. Finally, after a third ultrasound another week later, I was ready to accept what happened, and decided to take medication to expel the fetus etc. We were warned that there would be a lot of blood loss, and tissue pa__sed, but I did not feel prepared for what I actually experience! I pa__sed four giant clots (my husband described them as small eggplants or thin pears). Each time it happened I thought it would be the last. This is what lead me to this site. I wanted to know what others had experience. My bleeding was so bad that I could not get off the toilet, and by the time we decided to go to the emergency department just before midnight that night, I was filling a super absorbent pad every 5-10 minutes. Thankfully I almost fainted while at the hospital and they took me in right away! They gave me two Saline IV bags, and by the time I left Saturday morning, the bleeding had slowed significantly. But I am still cramping 4 days later and pa__sing 2cm x 2cm x 1cm clumps of tissue. I feel like it's never going to stop! Has anyone else experienced this? I'm so sorry you have all experienced such a tragic event! Onwards and upwards - I hope you all have future successful pregnancies that result in the greatest gift of your lives!

KatA, did you take misoprostol to expel the fetus? That's what I took on February 3rd when I found out that my baby's heart stopped beating. I was eight weeks along. I took 400 mcg every four hours starting at 1:30 pm and had pa__sed clots, and two big sacs (not sure what else to call them) by 1:00 am on February 4th. I didn't take my last dose (they wanted me to take them v____ally four times and I only did it three time) because I thought I had pa__sed everything. The worst of the cramping (and it was BAD) stopped after I pa__sed the two "sacs." My bleeding seemed to slow down a lot the next day and I was so sure that everything had pa__sed...boy was I wrong! I started having cramping, which got severe at times on February 5th. I knew it wasn't normal since I miscarried naturally on October 31st 2008. When I miscarried the first time the cramping stopped the day after I pa__sed all the clots and tissue. So I went to see my obgyn a week after I thought I had pa__sed everything and an ultrasound showed that I hadn't pa__sed all the tissue. Not what I wanted to hear, but atleast I knew why I had such awful cramping still. I was prescribed more of that awful medication, misoprostol, but this time in a higher dosage to try and pa__s the rest of the tissue...with not much luck. I went in the next day to have another ultrasound done because all I pa__sed this time were two clots...and I still had that awful cramping. An ultrasound showed I had pa__sed some, but still not all of it. I decided to have the rest taken out right there in the office. It took only ten minutes. It wasn't exactly a d&c, but it did the trick. Now I am cramp free and was told that my hcg level has dropped from 1400 to 340 in a matter of a few days. Sorry this is so long. I just need to write about my experiences in order to work through the emotions and heartache that I have been going through. Losing two babies in a span of four months has been devastating to both my husband and I. I just pray that the next time we try to conceive that it results in a beautiful, healthy baby that we may have the privelege to hold.

Hi Myrrhie and the rest of the ladies in here... I'm sorry to hear about your loss :( The reason I'm here is because I think I had a miscarriage today... It began with crampings and bleeding in a pink-like color. As I have read your posts I believe it is a miscarriage because I also saw a tissue when I went to pee but It wasn't grey, mine was yellow or something like that. I wanted to ask myrrhie something: When you felt the crampings and saw the tissue in the bathroom, did you look for medical attention immediately or you didn't at all? I just wonder because my case might just be a late period, since im also regular. I know this was posted years ago, but I would really appreciate it if you, myrrhie, or anybody else answered my question. Thank you.-

Hi marce2427, If you think you just had a miscarriage (and I'm sorry if you did), I would go straight to your doctor or a walk in clinic if you can see you doctor tomorrow and as for a blood test to determin what your hcg levels are. Even if you had a miscarriage, it take a few days for the levels to deflate. This will answer all your questions - promise! Good luck!!

I just found out today, I had a miscarriage . I've been bleeding 4 days now, and I haven't seen grey tissue ? How log does it take to see the grey tissue ?

I just want to say how sorry I am for your loss Leticcia. You might not even have tissue come out, it all depends on how far along you were. Also some woman cannot sucessfully pa__s the tissue and need a D&C, uterine sc___pping. I was suppose to be 11 weeks 1 day and the baby pa__sed 6 weeks 6 days, missed miscarriage. It started monday and by Tuesday the cramps were so bad I went back to the hospital to help with the pain. Shortly after I started bleeding red blood and pa__sing clots the size of golf b___s. It was day 4 or 5 I went to the bathroom and thats when i pa__sed some tissue. It was red and membrane looking imagine a piece of steak and thick. I went back to the hospital were they removed it for me as I was not mentally strong enough. My sister in law had a similar experience except she bleed do bad she needed a D&C.
